Handy Little Knife - Highly Recommended!     On: 2010-02-21

We own three of these little Victorinox Swiss Army Knives, two of them on our car key rings and another one for my son. This knife has a good collection of tools, including a very good pair of mini-scissors (really!), a nail file and small flat head screwdriver, tweezers, plastic toothpick, and knife.

The knife blades were a little duller than I expected, but a few quick passes with my sharpener AccuSharp 001 Knife Sharpener put a very good edge on them.

We also have several of the larger Victorinox knives as well (including Victorinox Swiss Army Champion Plus Pocket Knife) and have never been disappointed with any of their products.

Highly Recommended!

Neat little knife     On: 2010-02-07

Very convenient little knife. Good for trimming nails and other personal tasks. I always keep it with me.
Love these little knives!     On: 2010-02-07

We love these little knives. I had to special order this yellow one for a daughter who asked, "Am I old enough for my own knife?" If someone loses their Victorinox Classic Pocket Knife, they ask for a new one at the next gift opportunity. With small scissors, screw driver, tweezer, file, and knife, this is the perfect item on your key chain or in your purse or pocket. I use it when sewing or knitting away from home, opening packages, emergency glasses repairs, snipping price tags.
When you travel by air, be sure to pack it into your bags, as it will be taken at security. [Weve lost two this way!]
Cleaning is simple: a wet sanitizing wipe or small alcohol swab will clean the blade easily.
Once you own one of these, you will be hooked. You will want to buy several colors, so each person can have their own.
Love It!     On: 2010-01-18

This is the third key ring pocket knife I have had. I love it! And for the price, you cant beat it!
Very good but very, very small     On: 2010-01-16

The Victorinox Swiss Army Classic knife is a very useful daily utility. It comes with a small knife blade, scissors, a nail file with a screwdriver head, tweezers, and a toothpick. Overall its a quality knife but people who are buying this because they dont need the additional tools found in the other knives should beware.

When I opened the package for my new Classic Knife, I found that it is incredibly tiny. To put this into perspective, my neighbor has a Swiss Army Champion knife and I was expecting pretty much that minus 90% of the tools. What I got was a knife with a handle and blade so tiny that it can really only be used for smaller household things like opening letters and packages. You can use it for other things but when I attempted the things I originally intended such as cutting some annoying thorns in my backyard, the knife ended up slipping and cutting my fingers. I then borrowed my neighbors knife and the large blade was able to pull of this task with ease, accompanied by the bigger scissors. So, all in all, if you intend to use the knife blade for cutting things, Id recommend you buy a different model with a large blade.

The Nail file works just as it should, and the screwdriver head is very useful but, accompanied by the tiny handle, occasionally clumsy. The scissors are incredibly convenient and work very well, although I would definitely consider its larger counterpart more useful at times.

Stored inside the handle are a pair of tweezers and a plastic toothpick. The tweezers work great for splinters (tested, and it works very well) and are very secure in the handle. The toothpick works outstanding and much better than wooden toothpicks that break when I have something incredibly deeply lodged in my teeth. Also secured well in the handle.

Overall this is a good knife for people who use knives for more simple household tasks such as opening packages or letters, but for people oriented toward more outdoor or handyman use, consider a model that includes the large blade.
Very handy / practical     On: 2010-01-09

I got one of these as a gift.
Now I give them as gifts.
Cant beat the quality.
overall a very functional, easy to carry knife     On: 2009-12-31

This particular pocketknife has become one of my personal favorites for many reasons. its small size might make it appear to be a sissy, but it will out do any single blade or three-blade pocketknife of comparable dimension with its extra utilitarian options.
I find the knife very useful as a letter opener, and its extremely sharp right out of the box. The scissors are always useful for many different reasons, and i use these often as well. The nail file, i dont use as much but occasionally, i will either use to (of course) file my nails, or to sand wood. As in every swiss army knife, the tweezers and toothpick are in this model and tend to be very useful for various reasons. To sum it all up, this is a great knife for the price and i highly recommend it
Sweet!     On: 2009-12-28

I got my knife taken by the kind folks at the TSA while boarding a flight. While it was gone I felt naked. Vulnerable. Went online and found out this guy somehow acquires those knives and figured I would keep the chain going by purchasing one of them. It has some minor scratches on the outside but the business ends are all working. Seems he sharped the scissors and the knife blade. Hard to tell because these things hold an edge so well. My old one was over 10 years old and still cut like the first day I got it. Overall I couldnt be happier with my purchase!
Swiss Army knife mini     On: 2009-11-11

What I received was just fine. Delivery was a bit slow. Mailing charges were too high. It was treated in the camping category which made the cost almost as much as the item. If I had known the cost I would not haveordered it.
Smale in size, monster in use.     On: 2009-11-07

I have used one of these for years and it can be used for many problems. I needed a new one for trips, keeping original at home.

I carry it every day, I use it almost every day     On: 2009-10-13

This is one of those "every day carry" item. I purchased the Classic SD (red) with the sole purpose of having a small pocket knife with mini scissors as I was encountering more and more situations where "if I only had a small knife" or "if I only had a small pair of scissors" with me to remove a clothing tag, open a package, or cut out a newspaper ad.

I wanted something pocket-sized/small and relatively easy to operate. The Classic SD fits the bill for me. What was even more of a surprise for me was how useful having the compact tweezers would be (e.g. pulling out a spliter or a stray whisker while in the mens room).

I have sometimes thought of replacing it with a Leatherman Squirt or Micra but this Classic SD just has enough tools for me to carry around without being bothered by it. I can put it in the coin pocket of my jeans and it fits nicely in my coin purse (which is a Chisco Marsupial Keychain and is similar to the Chisco Floating Marsupial Red but without the floating feature). For me, its a handy pocket tool to have every day.

I even purchased a second Classic SD (translucent red) and tucked it away in my office in case I lose my current one.
Tiny, yet terribly useful     On: 2009-10-12

Fits right in your pocket without much notice, and it never ceases to amaze me at how often I call upon its tools.
Cant live without it     On: 2009-09-26

I had one of these for awhile and dropped it in a river and realized that I couldnt live without it. Its very durable - I keep it hanging from my belt loop with my car keys at all times and it never cracks or breaks. Good quality stuff.
Condition of the item was not exactly what was expected     On: 2009-09-08

Condition of the item was not exactly what was expected. It was listed as Very Good. It was acceptable but not very good. Then again for 99 cents what should you expect.
Great product, great value     On: 2009-09-07

Its cheaper than in most retail stores and its the one and only, Victorinox. And it comes in many different colors.
Victorinox Swiss Army Classic Pocket Knife     On: 2009-09-04

Good, reliable, and small knife. Comes useful on little trips. Nothing more to say, really. Definitely was a good buy for me.
Perfect for Your Key Chain     On: 2009-09-02

Its small and light (3/4 oz. -- 2-1/4" long). Put it on your keychain. Except when going through airport security.

All handy, especially the toothpick and knife blade. A great deal for 10 bucks.
Awesome Classic     On: 2009-08-13

These are always worth buying. You never know when they come in handy. And my girlfriend loves her pink one. Its the functional finishing touch on her key chain.
Love Victorinox!     On: 2009-07-13

If I didnt keep losing my Swiss Army Knives, I wouldnt have to keep replacing them. But every time I lose one, I have to buy another. Just cant live without my SAK.
My husband's favorite knife     On: 2009-07-08

This is the third or fourth of these knives that my husband has owned. Its not because the product is bad. Its because he has lost them or had one taken by airport security. I ordered this one to replace the one that he accidentally still had in his pocket when he went through airport security. He loves it and so do I, I even have one of my own because its small enought to fit nicely in my purse and comes in so handy. Its a great knife and we love them. I would highly recommend this knife and Amazon dot com has the best price I have found!Swiss
Swiss Army Quality - No Less     On: 2009-06-11

When I opened up the package, I was astonished but very pleasantly surprised to find out how *small* this is! The red housing measures 2-1/4" x 1/2" (dimensions exclude protrusions from the tools contained within the housing). This makes it real handy to take along with you on camping trips or on hikes. It is small enough to attach to your key chain (it has a ring for that purpose).

Im simply amazed at the quality of the craftsmanship. The ruby red plastic (I picked the ruby red version of this knife) is transparent, not opaque like the housing of a classic Swiss Army knife. It contains some of the most essential tools for a survival toolkit and then some:

1) Scissors
2) Knife
3) Tweezers
4) Screwdriver (Flathead)
5) File
6) Toothpick - Eew! Gross!

The knife and scissors are EXTREMELY sharp. The tweezers come in very handy if you ever need to extract a thorn or a stinger from a bee from the flesh. The tip of the file is a 1/8" flathead screwdriver. As for the toothpick... use a disposable toothpick for chrissake!

---
The Victorinox Swiss Army Classic Pocket Knife contains many indispensable tools for when youre out camping or hiking. The built-in key ring makes it easy to attach it to your key chain so that you can bring it along everywhere you go. Highly recommended!

Swiss Army Knife     On: 2009-06-08

Ive had a number of Swiss Army Knives in the past and I find them to be extremely useful. My family knows that I have the instrument with me and there is always something that has to be scissored, cut, etc.
great knives     On: 2009-06-01

These are exact replacements I first bought in Hong Kong 20 years ago. The little spring in the scissors broke so I bought new ones. Sharp blade, tweezers, blunt file I use as a screwdriver. I bought 3. My wife likes to carry 1 too...mostly for the scissors. Very quick shipping.
Good knife. Takes me back to my Army days!     On: 2009-05-25

It was the summer of 1944 and I had just been expelled (in disgrace) from the Swiss Army. As for possessions, I had little more than the clothes on my back, my Grover-Trophy Metal Kazoo (Standard) and of course my trusty, military issued Victorinox Swiss Army Champion Plus Pocket Knife.

Just days earlier, I had been certain that I was destined for military greatness. You see, I had acquired a rifle and several thousand rounds of ammunition, while on leave in Italy some six months prior. It occurred to me that if I could demonstrate to the military high command how potentially useful a rifle could be for military stuff... perhaps they would consider investing in some and possibly even issue them to our troops. Dont get me wrong... each of us dogfaces valued our Victorinox Swiss Army Champion Plus Pocket Knife... the primary weapon issued to all of us Swiss fighting men at that time. As terrific as these little knives were, we felt insufficiently armed when we hunkered down in our battle trenches, waiting for enemy sharpshooters to run out of ammo before we dared to charge them... knives drawn... teeth bared.

When not afield facing down the invading Nazi hordes, my assigned duty post was that of the solitary guard of a large warehouse which was situated in a remote corner of our military base. Each day, I walked the perimeter of that big old warehouse, my Victorinox Swiss Army Champion Plus Pocket Knife drawn and at the ready. Since acquiring the rifle, my evenings and weekends had been spent diligently practicing my marksmanship inside that very warehouse. By then, I had fashioned it into my own private, makeshift firing range. I fired round after round into the wooden crates that filled that warehouse from floor to ceiling... determined to hone my skills.

A day came when I was at my post and saw an approaching motorcade. It was none other than King Victorino X, King of Switzerland accompanied by an entourage of our small but proud nations highest military officials. I closed the blade of my trusty Victorinox Swiss Army Champion Plus Pocket Knife, quickly stashed it in my pocket, made a snappy salute and stood at full attention in the presence of His Majesty and my superior officers.

I was ordered to open the doors of the warehouse so the King could inspect the contents of the warehouse. Which as my bad luck would have it turned out to be the entire supply of the Kings royal cheese! As I learned later, each of these prize cheeses had been made with several gallons of Tuscan Whole Milk, 1 Gallon, 128 fl oz (available here on Amazon for $77.76 per gallon). The cheeses had been crated in wooden boxes and stored in this warehouse so that they could age to perfection. The King was... shall we say... somewhat angry to discover every box shot full of holes from my months of secret target practice.

I was immediately dismissed from the Army (and the country). The cheese was all but ruined. No longer fit for the king, and shot full of holes, it was sold to delicatessens around the world to be used on sandwiches by commoners. It still tastes pretty good with ham on rye if you ask me.
Crummy knife     On: 2009-05-25

The blade is too short to be effective. Youre more likely to hurt yourself than anything with the tendency to fold on itself. The scissor spring also sucks, broke the thing within a month. Tweezers is easy to lose and toothpick is just retarded. Get a bigger knife.
Victorinox Swiss Army Classic Picket Knife     On: 2009-05-23

I have had several of these handy knives and have always been pleased with the service I have gotten from the knives.
everybody should have at least one     On: 2009-05-10

Put one on your keyring and it will be there when you need to open some packaging, fix a hangnail, cut out a coupon, work on a zippo lighter, whatever. A few seconds of sharpening and I could shave hair off my thumb with this little blade. The scissors can handle plastic, paper, cardboard, strings, cloth, threads, fishing wire, zippo wick... It wouldnt be too hard to break if you use it as a pry bar or something, but for basic daily use it should last as long as you can keep up with it.

I like the regular classic with the tweezers and toothpick (tweezers come in handy a lot). The "alox" models are all metal and thin enough to fit in any pocket, about like carrying a stick of gum. Makes a great gift for your girlfriend who would never carry a knife otherwise; find one in her favorite color or one that matches her car or outfits and she wont mind keeping it on her key chain. Its cute, but it could be a life saver in a lot of different situations.
Very Useful     On: 2009-05-07

Its a rare day that I dont use this little knife at least once. Im constantly pulling it out of my pocket at work to do things like open packages and cut duct tape. Today I used the screwdriver tool to reach the reset button on a printer, the knife blade to cut up an apple for lunch and the scissors to cut a plastic tie. Its nice to never have to go looking for tools.

The knife is also so well made that its a pleasure to use. Ive had small knives like this before but they were cheap Chinese knockoffs. The real Swiss army knife is incomparably better. The tools open easily and snap firmly into place. The plastic grip looks slippery, but its not: it allows a firm grip and has a pleasantly solid feel. The tools are all very high quality. The knife is surprisingly sharp and hasnt dulled down at all yet. The tweezers are nice and springy. The tiny scissors seem very well made and are nice and sharp, as opposed to the dull, flimsy ones Ive seen on other knives. Even the toothpick is made out of heavy duty plastic.

The scissors are my most-used tool, followed by the knife. Ive used all of the tools at one point except for the toothpick. But its there if I ever get something stuck in my teeth. This knife has virtually every tool youre likely to need on an everyday basis and is very high quality for a cheap price. I love mine and I think youll end up loving yours too!

Victorinox Swiss Army Classic Pocket Knife     On: 2009-04-27

Victorinox Swiss Army Classic Pocket Knife These little knives are surprizingly useful, I always keep one on my keychain, and everything on it fits comfortablely in my front pocket including the knife. The knife blade is a great cardboard box openner and never seems to dull and the screwdriver actually works as a screwdriver and although the tweasers look funky they actually work as tweasers also: ditto for the toothpick.
Pocket this in your Pocket     On: 2009-04-06

This pocket knife was well received. It is used for personal and for business uses. It is small to fit in your pocket and not use up space. You can also put in on your keychain so it is handy for your needs. The color was perfect.
Good product-bad order     On: 2009-04-03

When I placed this order I changed my address to our winter home but our account didnt get changed before the item was shipped and the order when to our summer home where it lay for several weeks and finally the post office forwarded it to us here in Florida.
The Perfect Pocket Knife!     On: 2009-03-30

I purchase my knife used and the gentleman who sold it to me cleaned it all up and sharpened the blade as sharp as a razor! I like having the sissors o the knife along with the nail file, tweezers and toothpick. athe knife is perfect for opening mail and packages and cutting line. This is a handy knife to have.
Handy-dandy Littel Tool     On: 2009-03-28

Ive been using these for years, most often in black or red. They wear out eventually, or I lose them to an over-zealous TSA rep when I forget to put them in my checked baggage. I play guitar and the scissors and nail file are great for keeping the talons tuned for fretwork. The scissors are high quality and the combination of options is about perfect for a pocket-knife. The screwdriver blade has come in handy thousands of times and the toothpick and tweezers are very usable and handy to have. Its small enough to carry in any clothing, yet large enough to handle most tasks. I dont know if they were a closeout or what, but the price was right for me to buy a handful so I have spares to last awhile.
A Classic     On: 2009-03-27

Still amking the most reliable multi-function pocket knife on the planet...you have to commend the manufacturer for not tinkering too much with this one.
I did not receive my order!     On: 2009-03-25

My order was delivered to the wrong address and returned to Amazon. It was not forwarded to the correct address.
you should carry one     On: 2009-03-09

I like to have this small one in my pocket for daily use. Its small enough so it is less bulky than my car key and alarm bob. It has the basic knife, combination screwdriver and nail file, and a small scissor; everything Ive needed in a pinch when at work or out-and-about. Theres a pull out tweezer and toothpick, but I rarely use those. Unfortunately, I had to give my last one to TSA at the airport. Ive gotten so used to slipping it into my pocket, its hard to purposely not take it along.
Perfect     On: 2009-02-28

This knife is the same as many others of class, only it looks more cool. I like both the color and the fact that it somewhat transparent. The scissors really work well enough to be useful - I use them for cutting paper and for when I break a finger or toe nail. The toothpick is OK, the knife and tweezers are great. The knife is not a weapon (a pencil is a better weapon) though it satisfies the "concept" of a weapon well enough to have it confiscated boarding a plane (I have lost more than one this way). The knife is not big enough to slice a grapefruit in half (the blade is too short), but what do you want for a knife that is perfect for your keychain? I have found the knife very valuable for many things and is worthy of its Victorinox breed. This knife is perfect for your keychain (did I mention it includes a screwdriver too?). It is just the perfect size. The nail file might be nice for women - I dont know, but it does not not detract from anything.
BARB     On: 2009-02-28

Great little knife for my keychain. The tweezers are so handy to have with me at all times.
I loved this little knife, until it was stolen.     On: 2009-02-27

This is a great size for a keychain, and the materials are of good quality stainless steel. The outer shell is nice and sturdy, and i used this for numerous little jobs. Doesnt come with the tweezer or toothpick, but it allows the item to be slimmer than the others and light weight. This makes a great gift, especially if you get it engraved.

Perfect size for her     On: 2009-02-23

This is the second one I bought for my wife. We bought another one of the same size but in different color 3 years back and it is still in good condition. She just wants a different color :-). Now this one stays on her key chain.
Best Pocket Knife Ever     On: 2009-02-04

I have been using these little wonders since the early 80s. I have had all types of knives over the years big to small and this is easily the best of the lot for daily use, especially if you are a city dweller. First it easily has the sharpest little pair of scissors that come in handy for cutting loose threads to trimming paper and they dont dull easily. Secondly the blade is very sharp and very easy to sharpen when it does get dull ( a little ceramic sharpener for 3.99 will keep it tip top). Thirdly the screwdriver/nail file comes in handy for those little emergencies. And then to top it off it has little tweezers that actually work and a toothpick when you get caught and need to get that little piece of food out for a meeting or a lunch date. I do a lot of shipping and receiving in my job and it cuts boxes better than most box cutters and slices through tape with no problem. I dont think I have ever lost one...although it is easy to fall out if you lean back far. It has become second nature to me and I know if it is not there. One reviewer stated he liked his Leatherman Micra better. I have one of those also, I use it for camping, hiking. The leatherman is much heavier with more tools. The Victorinox very light, non-cumbersome and like i have said perfect for everyday needs. Highly recommended and for the price unbeatable. Do no accept imitations...This model is the real deal and IS a Swiss Army Knife. Quality is excellent!
Great sidekick     On: 2009-02-03

Obviously if you do a lot of cutting or need a companion on the trail, this is not the knive for you.

If you need an easy to carry companion for every day use and something light for the office, this is for you.

I cant tell you how many times Ive spruced up before a meeting, needed to put out a splinter, etc. Ive had mine for years! Its a great investment.
A TRUE Classic!     On: 2009-01-29

The Classic SD in Traditional RED is probably the best selling Swiss Army Knife for well over 25 years, and by far the most imitated.

These are SMALL knives. often attached to key chains, and not to be confused with the "McGiver" models that have every gadget known to man.
For that, youll want to look at the SwissChamp{R} by Victorinox.

The Classic SD has tools that you WILL use every day. The scissors are sharp (and can actually be sharpened when needed). The knife blade is big enough for most jobs and is thin and finely machined.

The file blade is a very durable milled file and the tip is squared off slightly to make a handy screw driver, hence the SD tag.

The toothpick is very durable plastic and is easy to slide in to the side of the handle.

The tweezers are precise. Youll be the one everyone comes to to have a splinter removed!

There is a small lanyard ring that you can attach to a larger key ring, or simply carry the knife in a pocket or purse.

The engineering, and time tested design and quality of this VICTORINOX knife is unequaled. Insist on GENUINE SWISS MADE Victorinox.

Classic not Classic SD - see the photo!     On: 2009-01-23

The description here on this Amazon listing DOES NOT MATCH the picture. The CLASSIC, as pictured has a pointed nail file, NOT the screwdriver tip. I believe this model is retired, and I know it is becoming rare. There is not a whole lot of difference. However, the poited file actually may fit some phillips screw heads better, and many feel it is a better nail cleaner. Also the word EXECUTIVE in the description is somewhat misleading. Victorinox does make an EXECUTIVE model, which is VERY DIFFERENT from the CLASSIC. So, until Amazon fixes the disparity between the written and photo description, verify with the seller that you are getting the model you want when ordering from this listing.

The knife, by the way, is, like all VICTORINOX Swiss Army Knives, of excellent quality, and fine engineering. Accept no imitations.

An excellent little gift and a handy tool     On: 2009-01-18

My husband was delighted to find this pocket knife in his stocking on Christmas. Basically, it was a replacement for the red one hes had for MANY years on his key ring (I got blue just for a change!). Hes very happy with it, and Im happy, too, especially since its such a low price for a quality product that hell enjoy for years to come.

Bought this for a gift for someone who loves purple stuff and she just loved it! Now I want one too.
very nice, but...     On: 2009-01-13

This is my second Victorinox mini pocket knife, and Im rarely without it. The good news is that the design hasnt changed; the bad news is that the design hasnt changed. My main gripe is that the "spring" on the scissors is too flimsy to make them as useful as they could be, plus its the first thing to break.
I have a mini generic Swiss army knock-off that is only slightly larger, with a well designed spring hinge on the scissors, so it can be done.
Swiss Army Classic is Classic     On: 2009-01-13

Just a pleasure to gift someone with the same brand of my first pocketknife.
Call it nostalgic but its still a nice thing to be able to pass on a tradition.
I carry it wherever I go (um, except to the airport).     On: 2009-01-13

I received this knife as a gift a few years ago, and its been a nearly constant companion of mine ever since. Its not too big, bulky, or heavy to carry in my pants pocket, and its extremely useful.

Its got two cutting blades - a long one and a short one, it has a can opener/small standard screw-driver, a bottle opener/larger std screwdriver, a punch, a phillips-head screwdriver, a built in pair of tweezers, and a plastic tooth pick. Ive used the tweezers several times while hiking or camping to remove splinters, etc.

This would be a great knife for a boy scout, an adult scouter, or anyone that likes having a pocket knife handy.

The steel is high quality, it holds an edge nicely, and sharpens up quite quickly.

All in all I have found my knife to be a top-notch item. Id certainly buy another one if this one were lost, and Id choose this as a gift for a close friend.

5 stars!

This a a handy little knife that fits on your keychain for easy access. Love the toothpick and the tweezers. My kids think the scissors are the greatest.
Nicely worked, great heft, sterling silver. Superb!     On: 2009-01-12

I particularly liked the hammered pattern because it shows hand working of the silver. The other barleycorn and other design are more machine made looking. The sterling silver adds a heft to the knife that is very pleasant. I think this is the ultimate keychain for your dream car, or just the perfect gift for the Victorinox Swiss Army Knife enthusiast wh o has the other versions. Something not appreciated by everyone since not all will realize that this knife is sterling silver and not just like the $9.99 one at Target that they saw on their friends keychain. A great deal too when Amazon was having a $10 off Victorinox Swiss Army purchases over $50.

Small and extremely handy. Perfect for a keychain. So light youll forget its there, untill you need it.
Victorinox Classic Swiss Army Knife w/ Purple Handle     On: 2009-01-06

Victorinox products are always great. I bought my wife a purple handled Classic Swiss Army knife years ago when we visited Switzerland. Purple is her favorite color and she loved it and carried it faithfully until she forgot to check it during a plane trip. Security took it at the airport. I finally found a new one on Amazon and it made her Christmas.
Small Swiss Army Knife     On: 2009-01-06

The knife arrived timely. I have bought several
before and this was exactly what I was expecting.
The Star of David logo on a blue background made a
unique gift to someone I know who much appreciated
this theme rather than the standard swiss army knife logo.
Thank you.
great little knife     On: 2009-01-06

This little gem is a remarkable value for ten bucks. Its so small it doesnt make a bulge and the rounded corners dont tear your pockets.
Nice color knife good value     On: 2009-01-05

Got this for stocking stuffer for my wife; nice quality product that has a different style and color. Highly recommend it when it goes on sale.
Great to carry in your purse!     On: 2009-01-05

Good buy and a handy little tool to have in your purse.

Dont leave home without it!
Birthday present for Dad     On: 2009-01-05

I bought this knife as well as three others from Amazon as a birthday present for my dad with a few of my siblings - the knives came in great condition and they are very nice items in his collection.
Swiss Army Knife (mini)     On: 2008-12-29

Greetings, I placed an order for 3 mini Swiss Army Knives (red), the order was promptly filled and shipped, but unfortunately after 4 weeks and many calls to the local USPS office, they found that the shipment had been returned as undeliverable. If you know any thing about Philadelphia and the USPS right now, youll get the picture.

My account was promptly credited with the return (Yay!) and I promptly reordered, same thing, same address, etc. Four days later I had the order in my hot little fist. Go figure.

The vendor was great, never had to contact them. Highly recommended!

what can you say???     On: 2008-12-23

This is one of the best choices for a stocking stuffer, pick your color for appropriate male/female recipients. A surefire crowd pleaser, just dont take it to the airport.

Swiss Army knife with USA Flag     On: 2008-12-22

Wow, I couldnt believe it when I saw this available for Christmas. Really cool and just as good as the original red. Get one today for family and friends.
Swiss Army Classic Knife     On: 2008-12-16

Excellent knife for those minor fingernail grooming, loose threads on clothes, paper cutting or other minor cutting chores.
Handy     On: 2008-12-12

Got this basically free with the purchase of a bigger knife for my brother. This is perfect to just throw in my purse or leave in the glove box.
Classic for a reason     On: 2008-12-11

Each year, I give these little classic knives as gifts to an assortment of people. With the restrictions on knives on aircraft now, they are always appreciated. Since owning and using these on a daily basis for many years, I have yet to have one break or be problematic. I do oil the hinges every year or so at least, more when the knife is used often. Its the most basic knife without bells and whistles and I love it. They are offered in a wide variety of colors and patterns and usually can be found for $10 or less. The Victorinox Swiss Army Classic Pocket Knife is the best in its class and at the low cost, its not heartbreaking when one is lost. Its also nice to have a couple on hand in the gift box for the times when someone compliments mine -- I give it away and know that I have a replacement at home.
Great little gadget well worth the price.     On: 2008-11-30

I got this knife for $9. It has a nail file, small knife, scissors, toothpick and a tweezers. I attach it with my key ring and carry it with me in my pocket all the time. It does come in handy occasionally. I rarely use the tweezers since it is pretty small and I dont find it as handy. However, all the other ones are decent, especially the knife. The blade is unexpectedly sharp. The built quality is great. This is a great gadget and I high recommend it.
classic swiss knife     On: 2008-11-30

This is my 3rd baby Swiss knife. The 2 previous ones were lost. This is a real classic and I always carry one in my pocket wrapped up with a handkerchief. While the steel in the blade isnt capable of serious carving, the extras -- scissors, file/screw driver -- and the tweezers are worth their weight in gold sometimes. I wouldnt be without my baby Swiss knife and I wish the &%@%@@ Airlines would let you keep it with you when your travel.
Read my comment in the 2 star review     On: 2008-11-18

The #1 selling size in Swiss Army Knives. Its NOT too small to use if you know what you are using it for! Top QUALITY. A world-wide CLASSIC design.
Pink Swiss Army Knife     On: 2008-11-17

The case was torn when I received it, but the quality of the knife was in good condition. Everything functions and well.
Best little lady's knife ever     On: 2008-11-17

This knife is so handy. When I first received it I thought it was so small that I would loose it. I thought I would have to replace it right away. I am amazed that I have not lost it. The blade is very sharp. The scissors are very sharp too.

The thing I use this the most for is opening packages in the car, after purchasing something in the store. It is a very sharp, sturdy for its size and just a great little knife. I have had this knife about a year now and it is still in like-new condition. I highly recommend this knife.

I WISH FOR !!!!!!!     On: 2008-11-07

I really wish SWISS ARMY would make an "ALL POCKET SCREWDRIVER". This would be mans best friend.....REALLY. Ten times more useful than the pocket knife. All you have to do is make 2 sizes of FLAT HEAD on one side of the knife and a MED. SIZE PHILLIPS , on the other. ANOTHER VERSION would be a FLAT HEAD ( med. size ) on one side and a MED. PHILLIPS on the other.......BUT IN THIS CASE...." Both Shafts are round ( Like real normal screwdrivers ). This would be for power, using it. MAKE A SMALL POCKET SCREWDRIVER and a larger 3in. version. But, the important thing is to leave off all the extra, tools. THIS WOULD BE SCREWDRIVER ONLY. Im writing this hopeing SWISS ARMY company gets this IDEA. I know it will out sell the pocket knifes. REALLY. Men and ladys really need something like this.......BUT AVERTISE IT, so everybody knows its out there. " I WANT ONE ALLREADY..........so hurry up and make this SWISS ARMY. It will be a BIG HIT.
All show no go!!     On: 2008-11-02

This one is not as good as the other classic pocket knives. It doesnt have the tweezers or the tooth pick. For less money you can get one of the transluscent colored ones...much more appealing to the eye! Trust me I have one of these on every set of keys I own. This one just feels cheap!!
great keychain tool     On: 2008-11-01

I put this on my keychain and use it a lot more than I thought I would. The little knife and scissors are great. The tweezers are handy too. Read the description, this is a small knife, but because of that I can keep it with me and actually use it. I think it was a good purchase.
too small.....     On: 2008-10-28

I purchased this for my 13 yr old son and it is so small he can barely open up the parts. He tried to use it once, and has not touched it again-he wants a "large" one for Christmas.
Pocket Knife     On: 2008-10-18

This is my 2nd knife. The first one lasted me 3 years and only broke because I used it for a screw driver which it is not intended to be used. I fully expect my new one to last much longer if used as intended. I highly recommend this pocket knife.
Compact Swiss Army Knife     On: 2008-10-06

The original small pocket knife is still and always will be the best in my book!
Great knife for your keychain     On: 2008-10-04

I got sick of always trying to use my car keys to open boxes and cut threads and figured I should just get a knife on there. As a keychain addition, this is perfect. Its really tiny. Smaller than most of my keys, actually. The blade is very small, but works for everything Ive needed it for so far. A bottle opener would be really nice instead of the scissors or nail file, but I guess I could use the Cadet if I really needed it. All the tools slide out like butter and lock into place securely. This a very well made little tool.
Vitorinox Swiss Army Classic knfe     On: 2008-09-28

I was delighted with the pocket knife. It is easy to carry on my key ring and most useful.
Excellent Product     On: 2008-09-23

This is the fourth Swiss Army Knife I have owned. The three previous ones are in the hands of the TSA since I forgot to remove them from my keys before going to the airport. The fact that I keep buying them says it all.
Can not live without.     On: 2008-09-23

What can be said about this knife? It is just one of those things you cannot do without. It is very handy and last almost forever (unless you lose it). I have several of the variations depending on what I need. This is the simplest one. Also have the one with philips and normal screw drivers (still very small knife) and of course the one with a bottle opener, one which all beer drinkers need! Must check out all the variant to be sure to get the right one(s).

Product is more than satisfactory. It is sleek and light weight. Very happy with it.
Perfect size for pocket     On: 2008-09-13

I bought this for my husband for his birthday. He loves it. He carries it on his key chain and the scissors and knife have already been used many times. Both are sharp and perfectly easy to use. It is perfect size to carry in his pocket. He has also used the nail file as a screw drive in a pinch. I would recommend this product. I wouldnt bring it as a survival tool but a great all around for small things.

Victorinox Swiss Army Classic SD Pocket Knife (Translucent Amethyst)     On: 2008-08-25

not much to say, a SAK is one of those things that one should not fail to have, i bought this for mi wifes keychain. The translucent amethyst color looks really cool.
Excellent     On: 2008-08-23

I bought this knife for my boyfriend after he forgot to take his original out of his bag while going through airport security. I was not sure where I would find another SAK with the Star of David on it and was overjoyed to find it on Amazon. Prompt delivery and service, and my boyfriend loves his new knife!
Classic & classy pocketknife     On: 2008-08-23

You cant go wrong with a Swiss Army Pocket Knife. This one is great for key chains. I keep mine in my purse and use it all the time. Knife and scissors stay sharp. Durable and easy to handle. Good product for the price.
best pocket knife my husband has ever had     On: 2008-08-23

I purchased this a year ago when my husband lost his. Hes owned about 4 and has never had a problem with any of them. Unfortunately, hes lost all the rest. So, I bought him the new one and, of course, he loves it.
Classy Pocket Knife     On: 2008-08-20

This is a rugged, versatile, and classy knife. The aluminum housing is solid yet lite. A little more expensive but worth the extra.
Great little item     On: 2008-08-05

My old one got confiscated at the airport when I forgot to take it off my keyring. The TSA agent had it out of my carry-on and off my keychain before I could say "huh?" So these things must pop up on their scanners all the time. It was old and scratched and missing its toothpick, so I said Id just get another. I got it in green, and I like the shamrock on my new one. These tools cant be beat for snipping an errant button thread during a boring meeting or opening another box from Amazon. I hope I remember to take this off my keyring before my next flight.
A Must-have Tool!     On: 2008-07-30

Ive been carrying one of these for about 20 years now. I wonder how I ever got along without it before! I gave one to my father-in-law, and he just rolled his eyes a bit. Now, he doesnt go anywhere without it. Knife, scissors, screwdriver, tweezers....covers just about every pesky little need that comes up and no other tools are available.
easy to use, and nice     On: 2008-07-24

this item was very nice. the knife was sorta dull though. when i got it, it had sand in it, and the blade was dull. so i was pretty disappointed. the tweezers and toothpick were pretty cool. i liked the scissors too. i recommend this item because its cheap, and its easy to use. hope i helped. :)
Good knife, but prefer Leatherman     On: 2008-07-23

This is a good, basic miniture pocket knife, but it doesnt compare to the features on the Leatherman Micra.
Everyone needs one     On: 2008-07-13

This knife is on my key chain, and I cannot live without it. I just bought it, as my previous one was confiscated at Paris airport. Ive been flying domestically with this for a while now, and have not had any issues, but dont carry it in your pocket in Europe. The blade is sharp and comes in handy at least twice a day. Other tools I dont use as often, but are good to have, especially the tweezer and scissor.
Small and light     On: 2008-07-02

I bought 2, both red with white Edelweiss. Gave 1 to Swiss son-in-law. When you have one on a keychain the keys are easier to find and its remarkable how often it will be of use. JWC
Great little knife     On: 2008-06-17

I had previously had a pink swiss army knife, but removed it from my keyring after 9/11 and then lost it. So, I was thrilled to find a pink one on sell at Amazon. Id really missed having a swiss army knife and am now using it all the time. If you dont have one on your keyring, you should!
Genuine product, good price     On: 2008-06-17

The merchant confirmed the purchase promptly and shipped it promptly. The product is exactly as advertised.
A REVIEW, NOT Feedback     On: 2008-06-13

This is as good as they get, quality wise. Made in Switzerland by Victorinox. This one has scissors, nail file (with the traditional POINTED tip (not SD) and knife blade. Lifetime warranty. Buy used and save $$$$ or buy new for a gift box. Just make sure you buy SWISS. The copies are garbage.
Great Pen Knife!     On: 2008-06-11

Ive owned this knife before, many, many times, and it is a great little knife. Does everything I need a small knife to do, and more. Now if they would only add an RFID chip so I could track it when I inevitably lose it or have it confiscated by TSA agents...
Perfect knife     On: 2008-06-02

I purchased this knife for my son who is 11 years old. Perfect size for his hands, very sturdy, well made and easily fits in his pocket so he can keep it with him. Nice beginner knife.
Every adult should have one     On: 2008-05-31

I have purchased at least 10 of these key chain knives from Amazon. Have given them as gifts to my adult children and their spouses and I have one on each key chain. The scissors works in a pinch and the knife blade is very versatile. When (not if) I lose another, I will order more since they are a handy addition to any key chain!
Compact, Very Useful and Must have     On: 2008-05-15

One of the very useful products I bought here. It comes handy to open a packet, work with some machinaries. It is working like a charm.
just the essentials     On: 2008-05-12

This knife is a great size for people who dont want a bulky pocketknife to lug around. Its solid and feels like it could withstand a beating.
Read the specs. It says it's 2.25" long!     On: 2008-05-11

These are CLASSICS, THE MOST popular size and model in the SwissArmy Knife line. If you want a bigger knife, then look for a TINKER, SWISSCHAMP or HUNTSMAN or any of the 50+ bigger knives they make. But this knife does what it was intended for very well. It is one of the best engineered products on the market today. The only minor negative is that this scout emblem just adds to the price. It does nothing more as far as function. I would buy a plain one and save the bucks, but as long as it is VICTORINOX, they are all the same quality. TOP NOTCH
Just as ordered     On: 2008-05-09

Arrived as ordered. No concerns. ALWAYS carry one of these with me. Have given plenty away at airport security.
Just what I needed.     On: 2008-05-04

I thought this knife would be too small, but its a perfect size for my keychain. I carry it with me everyday, Ive dropped it a few times, but it is still works great - very durable. Strongly recommended.
Great little pocket knife and handy accessories     On: 2008-05-04

I have several and continue to look for other colors. I carry one for a while and put it away, get another out and change from time to time. My favorite little pocket knife every. Discovered them quite by accident and now seem like a collector of every color and design.
Best Swiss Knife for day to day use     On: 2008-04-28

I have 3 of these pocket knives and I always carry it with me wherever I go. I use the pocket knife as a keychain with my car keys and get to use it at least twice a day. I use it to open letter envelopes, cut packaging tape from boxes and even cut loose threads from my shirts! The small scissors come in handy for cutting open snack packages and the small screw driver is useful in opening up electronic items when it needs some repair.

The tweezers and toothpicks fall off after a year or so. Most of the time without me finding out until its gone. The toothpick is useful for resetting buttons on PDAs or digital wrist watches. Tweezers are a bit small to pick up small screws but works when you do not have anything else handy except your swiss knife.

Overall...once you start using it, you wont leave home without it!
pink swiss army knife     On: 2008-04-24

I just received these knives in a timely manner. I think theyre handy except that the picture is a bit deceiving. These knives are not pink they are hot pink. Im ok with that, except that I was expecting a lighter shade. Overall, its a great product.
My favorite pocket knife     On: 2008-04-13

I love this model of pocket knife. It fits well on my key chain. Ive had one of these in my pocket for most of the last 15 years.
Just a great basic knife     On: 2008-04-12

this little knife is a great basic one the price is about half price with free shipping. my daughter has hers and she also loves hers!and it is an very good brand, lifetime!
Great gift item     On: 2008-04-07

Ive purchased this twice for the same gift recipient, so I know he likes it. The first one was confiscated by TSA at the airport and he was devastated. I replaced it with another one, because it is quite handy to have around.

Its small enough to fit in a purse, bag or pocket, but you can also use the loop to hang it on a keyring. The tweezers arent eyebrow or splinter-removal worthy, but they are nice for retrieving things out of the computer keyboard. I think Ive managed to use all of the attachments at one time or another. The flat blade at the end of the nail file is great for helping to pry up things (like the pull-tab on your soda) or as an actual screwdriver. The scissors are great for nipping off stray threads, too.

What I Expected     On: 2008-04-05

I ordered this knife because I lost a similar one that I had kept on my keychain. I also ordered it because it was unique and I was hoping that, just maybe, it could be a good luck charm for a very important licensing exam that I had coming up. As a good luck charm, it definitely earned its keep, but you dont care about that... As a knife, it was exactly what I expected, almost. It is a very convenient little tool to have around, but the quality was below what I was used to with Victorinox, which surprised me. The blade was not very sharp and the scissors actually had a factory defect. One of the scissor blades was not all the way straight and had a notch in the blade edge, causing the scissors to kind of snap past the defect. Its not a big deal, but definitely not what I expected from Victorinox. That said, its not exactly like this knife is intended to be a high end survival tool. It is just a keychain convenience, and functions well as such, even with a few minor defects.
Plastic shell is too soft     On: 2008-03-30

It is a nice knife. But the plastic shell is too soft. It is easy to get scratched.
Yes, this girl carries it every day!     On: 2008-03-08

I work in the medical field and I carry this handy little knife in my work smock every day. I comes in so handy from cutting gauze, to opening up boxes, to getting slivers out with the tweezers. My co-workers laughed at me when I first started carrying it but amazingly enough they are always asking to borrow it. Buy one for your ladies because they will use it!
Awesome little knife     On: 2008-03-03

I love this little knife, so handy and small!

I have had many of this over the years, but eventually lose them or have them confiscated at the airport. lol

The blade is extremely sharp, the scissors are great and the nail file/ screw driver are very handy.

This is one of those, "never leave home without it" items!!!
Great Gift or Every Day Tool for Yourself     On: 2008-03-01

I have had one of these on my key chain for over 15 years now; its only been replaced 3 times and I use it almost daily. It comes with a removable plastic toothpick and tweezers. I love having a toothpick handy after eating out somewhere and the tweezers work very well. The tweezers do not have the strongest grip because they are very thin and therefore a bit flexible, but I have never had them fail to work and they have very sharp edges for getting out the finest hair and/or splinter.

The knife and fingernail file/screwdriver are obviously useful in many instances; the only problem Ive ever had is that if you are trying to remove/loosen a very tight screw it might close on you if you press too hard. The implements do not lock into place, so you have to use some caution.

The scissors were originally my primary reason for purchasing these and are fine enough to help trim your cuticles and strong enough for smaller cuts. They are definitely not super strong but definitely cut paper and thin plastic easily.

Overall, these are a terrific gift for just about anyone and a great purchase for yourself. Ive seen them in the store for upwards of $14 but you can get these for less frequently on sale at Amazon.

Too small for daily usage     On: 2008-02-18

I didnt know a knife can be made this small until I got the shipment. It is too small to be used to peel the apples. It ended up disappearing in my sons toy box.

I suggest you read the specification carefully before place an order.
Ah memories!     On: 2008-02-17

This is just like the one I had 20 years ago! Sturdy construction, very handy to have around and small enough to slip into your pants pocket. Hope it lasts as long as my last one did!
great tool     On: 2008-02-11

I gave these as stocking stuffers, everbody loved them, after while. My sister is an attorney and thought it was a silly gift at first, she called me a week ago and said she uses it all the time. Good steel, really holds an edge, a must for every pocket or purse.
A must for guys' keychains     On: 2008-02-11

Got one as a groomsmens gift about 20 years ago and am on my 10th one. Use it almost every day-the scissors most. Tweezers are great when you need it. Screwdriver is strong for prying little things. Clean scissors pivot with lighter fluid if sticks from gum-up after a year. Retail for about $15, but can usually get some for $10.
Victorinox Swiss Army Knife     On: 2008-02-09

I have had one of these for 20 years, of course, not the same one as with all its versatility and usefulness they get lost or broken (when not used properly). Great for gifts, too.

Great little pocket knife, fits on my key ring and has already come in handy several times.
You have got to read the description!     On: 2008-02-07

I have read most of the reviews, and ALL of the 1, 2 and 3 star. This is a review of the CLASSIC SD. There is no corkscrew, and there is no bottle opener. ITS NOT THAT MODEL OF SWISS ARMY KNIFE!!!!! This is the CLASSIC. It deserves the name as it if far-and-away the MOST popular model ever produced by Victorinox. Some of these reviews remind me of the old joke: "No one goes to that restaurant anymore....Its always too crowded". Here are the tools you will find on the CLASSIC SD...the 2.25" key chain model.
1. A small sharp pen knife blade...You cant cut down a tree with it, or take a hammer to it and cut a masonry nail in half, but you can open a letter, a package, do some minor surgery, etc. You can even sterilize it in your dishwasher, or leave it in your pants for the wash. It will only improve it. 2. A little milled nail file. It works well and lasts a long time. The tip of this tool is now "squared off" to make a small screw driver. Thats where the "SD" comes in. Its gently machined so you can still use it to get the gunk out from under your nails. 3. There is a little pair of scissors. Cut a stray hair, clip a coupon, trim a hang nail. Its not wallpaper shears, but for snip, snip, they cant be beat. And when they eventually get dull, they can easily be resharpened by an expert. Not true of the Wenger, by the way. 4. There is the tweezers. They are made of tempered spring steel, and are precise. They are great for removing splinters, and so much more. 5. And the toothpick. So durable, and tapered. I dont think they could make it any better for the average joe. 6. Last there is a lanyard ring. Its not big enough to hang keys on, but that ring is just right to attach to your key ring, or, by god, a lanyard!
Remember this is the RED CLASSIC SD, made in Switzerland by VICTORINOX. It comes in all kinds of colors, but please, dont paint all little knives with the same brush. "Copies" have flooded the marketplace, imported from China. They are NOT the same. Not even close.
THE Classic     On: 2008-02-06

Classic indeed, for one good reason: engineering. The #1 key chain knife in all the world!
It's very tiny     On: 2008-02-03

I bought a used version of this knife, sold online after being confiscated an an airport security checkpoint. I wanted something small to keep in the car, but was surprised at just how small this knife is. I guess thats not a reflection how well it works, and features like the scissors seem very sharp, but I think Id prefer a larger knife in case I need it for heavy duty use. Thats really the only comment I have for someone thinking of purchasing this: its only about two inches long, so make sure thats the size youre looking for.
Great Gift     On: 2008-01-31

Ive bought several and keep giving them away. People just love it. I gave as simple gifts. Ladies use on their keychains and we just put in our watch pocket. Excellent quality. Holds an edge.
A Delicate Knife     On: 2008-01-31

The knife is much smaller than I expected, which cant satisfy my need(not illegal). But I have to say this is a small and exquisite knife, very well made, good for the ladies. The blade is small and very sharp, so be careful when you use.

The only negative is the plastic shell is VERY flimsy If you put it with your keys, it will probably get many scratches on it after awhile ( sadly own experience... ), but for its size, it is supposed to be with the keys. So, I strongly suggest you buy the silver/metal one.
Great every day knife.     On: 2008-01-29

If you carry one of these, youll forget you have it. The Alox are extremely thin. High quality.
Versatile, but unobtrusive     On: 2008-01-21

This slick little knife is the first thing that slides into my pocket in the morning. Ive used these small Victorinox pocket knives for many years in various models. Every little tool has been used many times, except for possibly the tweezers. The little tooth pick is the handiest and easily solves the problem of a stringy meat sandwich or chicken. The scissors are very precise and great at cutting strings or other little jobs. This knife is not rugged enough for an outdoorsman, but is ideal for a "Man about Town" or a lady. The only complaint I would have is that the knife blade does not hold an edge as long as they did years ago. It needs frequent sharpening, which is done easily with a small whetstone. However, its a useful, quality product, and I love them.
SOOOOO COOOOOOL     On: 2008-01-20

Wow- What fun this little knife is. Iv already used the little (very sharp) knife and the straight slot screwdriver several times. Im a 47 year old female and never owned a Swiss Army knife - Im so glad I didnt settle for anything but a Victorinox. I purchased my pretty translucent blue knife along with the classic red one for my 19 year old daughter. She loves it and uses it, we both love that its so handy right their on your key chain.
Great gift idea     On: 2008-01-20

Great gift for an outdoor kind of girl who happens to be part Irish. I got it for a friend of mine for Christmas, and she loved it. Its a good price for a quality SAK from Victorinox too. Either way, theres nothing like a Swiss Army Knife with or without the shamrock.
You can always trust in Victorinox     On: 2008-01-19

Just like the original pocket knife, but with a more attractive translucent color. Excelent price, shipped fast, and comes in the original Victorinox box. A must have everyday in life.
Right Front Pocket Tool     On: 2008-01-18

We cut back our spending this past Christmas and, because Ive carried one for years, I gave this to all my buddies (I gave the Victorinox Swiss Card to their wives). Practical, convenient, necessary.
I can't leave home without it.     On: 2008-01-18

Victorinox Swiss Army pocket knife is convenient and easy to carry in a ladies purse. Dont let the compact size fool you - each tool works effectively with a small pair of scissors, nail file, toothpick, knife and tweezers. This is one purchase you will not regret.

My son loves it.     On: 2008-01-17

My 9 year old got this for Christmas in his stocking. Hed had a Swiss army knife that was more of a standard size with many more tools within it that he lost. He got this as a replacement and even though its much smaller than a standard size pocket knife, he still likes it. Its got a toothpick, nail file, scissors and a small knife. He likes it but I would definitely not recommend getting it for anything industrial. The knife is really just good for cutting tape off boxes.
Great little pocket tool     On: 2008-01-16

My father gave me a knife like this about 10 years ago. It held up great and was used very often. However the spring in the little scissors finally snapped one day and I needed to replace it. I found it was cheaper to replace the entire knife then just the scissors so I bought this one. Its the exact same knife and Im sure this one will last me another 10 years.

Great knife, poor shipping     On: 2008-01-14

The knife is great! Very sharp and useful. I ordered it on Dec 10 and didnt get it until Dec 24 when it was promised by the 16th. Oh well.
For the feminine slasher     On: 2008-01-14

A sturdy little knife. Same quality as the original red Swiss Army Knife, but with added pink flair. Backed by a 100% Swiss guarantee that the knife will remain neutral at all times.
Opportunity of a Lifetime     On: 2008-01-13

Buy it used for $0.01. When was the last time you could purchase Swiss Cutlery delivered to your door for $5 ? I got 2 for my young sons as Birthday presents, and one for myself. This is one of the rare instances where "Someones loss, is your gain." Go for it, America !
My Husband loved it!     On: 2008-01-12

I gave this to my husband in his Christmas Stocking, and he loved it. He had one exactly like it and @ the airport they took it in security as it was attached to his keys. He missed the old one and once this was opened he was delighted. This has all the gadgets and the most important is the toothpick! I use the scissors all the time when we are away from home w/o any. This is a real must for any man. Or woman. Buy it!
Don't be misled by the pic, this knife is too tiny.     On: 2008-01-10

This knife is tiny! I cant even peel an apple comfortably with it and my hands are not that big.

Great for all purposes except getting through airports     On: 2008-01-07

We collected a bunch of these over my husbands employment -- his company used to hand them out for various rewards. My husband loves them -- always finds the scissors, little screwdriver, and tweezors handy -- and keeps one attached to his keys. When airport security began prohibiting any kind of sharp object from passing through security, and my husband had his first business trip after that ruling, he forgot that his little Swiss Army knife was on his keychain, and it got confiscated by security. Not to worry -- we had several more at home. Well, one by one over the past few years, he managed to have them all confiscated. Now we have to buy them, so I bought two for him this time -- a red one and a blue one -- and I hope they make it through the year. The only tool on this knife that he never uses is the toothpick -- I notice that a similar S.A. model has a little ballpoint pen instead of a toothpick, and I think we will try that version the next time. Great little tool.
Bought a red and blue one together -- this is the same review I wrote for the red one     On: 2008-01-07

convenient tool     On: 2008-01-04

I had one, but abandoned it in airport. I hooked it on my key chain, and forgot to get it off. So I bought the second one. I love this cute knife.
A great gift as a first knife for a teenager     On: 2008-01-04

Knives are now a forgotten item because of airports and other places which dont want weapons. Nevertheless, use of the knife should be a part of survival skills.

This is an excellent starter knife: high quality, with long-term use assured, given its quality.
In summary, recommended for a stocking stuffer.
Great for a keychain.     On: 2007-12-31

This little guy is very handy. It is just the right size to carry with you and has helped me out a number of times and I havent even had it a month yet.
Indispensible     On: 2007-12-26

You need this tool. The sharpness of the scissors is incredible and it will last for years. I have had mine for 10 years. Still works great.
Pocket Knife--just so so     On: 2007-12-24

It looks nice.Good quality.

However, it is awkward to use. Too small knife, not sharp enough.
Great workmanship, a work of art in sterling silver...     On: 2007-12-20

A work of art in metal. Elegant in a classic, understated way. This knife in sterling silver, hammered finish, replaces a traditional red plastic sided knife just like it Ive carried for 25 years. I couldnt wear it out, but I always wanted one in sterling. Service from Amazon was great. I jacked around with eBay for 3 or 4 days bidding on used ones and losing the bids at the last min to someone who thinks eBay bidding is a sport. Then I noticed I could buy a brand new one from Amazon for less than the used ones were bringing on eBay. Duh!
By the way, the one in sterling I bought doesnt have the tweezers and tooth pick...just the knife blade, nail file, and scissors. There was an insert that came with the knife that says the silver work was hand made by Lund Silversmiths. I Googled Lund on the web and their products are sold in places like Neiman-Marcus, but no knives are shown. Im very pleased with the knife.
Great Gift Idea     On: 2007-12-19

I gave this knife to my cousin for a Christmas gift, it makes a great gift.
excellent tool to attach on the keychain     On: 2007-12-17

I bought this for my sister after she saw mine. It features all the tools described above (good for opening packages, unscrewing, cutting, etc). For only $10, its worth having everywhere you go.
Great little knife.     On: 2007-12-08

The first thing that struck me when I got this knife is that it was very thin. I believe the lack of a toothpick and tweezers makes it slightly thinner than most Swiss Army knives; it fits nicely on a keychain and is darn good to have around. Its quite sturdy feeling, pretty nice looking, and best of all, its cheap. I think it would make a good stocking stuffer.
Victorinox Swiss Army Classic Pocket Knife (yellow)     On: 2007-12-06

It is great quality, however, I prefer a yellow color for bigger knife, it is too small for me
Best small knife.     On: 2007-12-03

I carry this model in my pocket all the time. An outstanding product, very handy.
My 3rd     On: 2007-12-02

This is my 3rd SA pocket knife over last 10 years. Both previous knives got lost. Between 1st and and 2nd ones Ive tried a cheap Chinese knock-off - thrown it away myself.

This knife is the best in its category, though, I must say, Swiss Army products carry reputation that generally exceeds their quality. One star off for knifes tendency to have scissors spring broken after a year or two.
Hot Barbie Pink!     On: 2007-11-30

Definitely not a muted hospital-pink, but a hot Barbies nails-sort of-pink. Very shocking when I opened it, but whatever. The pink is like two dollars cheaper than the other colored ones, so Ill deal.
Indispensable     On: 2007-11-27

I dont know how I ever got along without one of these on my keychain. I now give them as gifts and everyone who has gotten feels the same.
Great first knife!     On: 2007-11-19

I bought 5 of these knives for my cub scouts as gifts. The boys loved receiving them and began using them to carve neckerchief slides right away. The knife is small, but perfect for a first knife!
Don't have keys without it!     On: 2007-11-10

The best "key chain" you could ever have. Tweezers, Toothpick, blade, scissors, and nail file / screwdriver - you never know when theyll come in handy (but itll be often!). This is by no means a "heavy duty" knife - but its one that you can always have with you (as long as youre not on an airplane!).

Small Swiss Army Knife     On: 2007-11-05

I have carried this knife (or similar inferior items) for about 40 years. I am lost without it. Its quality is superb. I now purchase them for discriminating friends.
Slim, lightweight and durable in the pocket     On: 2007-10-31

This knife Victorinox - Swiss Army Classic SD- Silver Alox Knife is lighter, slimmer and more handsome than the typical Swiss Army Classic with the plastic sides. Although the product description says it has a tweezer and toothpick, as are found on the Classic with plastic sides, this model has neither. Thats why it is so much thinner and lighter than the other models. Ive carried it on my key chain for about a month, and it looks no worse for the wear. A great value at about $15.00!
Love 'em and Lose them     On: 2007-10-26

These are great knives to carry in your pocket. A perfect set of small tools. And, if you lose it, its only $10 to get another. So buy two.
Best little pocket knife this size     On: 2007-10-04

This little pocket knife is the best available in its size. It has all the necessities in a neat little package: Knife, scissors, file, tweezers and even a toothpick.
A MUST HAVE & CARRY     On: 2007-09-28

I can not imagine not having one of these in my pocket at all times. They are so handy to have and the size make them easy to carry in all types of clothing. The sissors, blade and screwdriver are all you need for most situations. And, at this price who can pass them up?

A Perfect Little Knife, Great Swiss Quality.........     On: 2007-09-08

The review by "Barry" was right on. After reading the review I realized this was the little knife I wanted. I did not need the tweezers and toothpick. The little knife is quite small and as noted not as thick as the regular Classic Swiss Knife. It is top quality and well made...

loved it     On: 2007-09-05

knife is awesome - and at a great price. dont try to take it on a plane!
Good but it opens the wrong way     On: 2007-08-28

Im not sure whether I want to give this 3 or 4 stars. Ive had one like this before and this one is better made. The idea is I keep it on my keychain, so I always have a knife at hand. The only problem is, the knife part opens in the wrong direction. Its attached at the same end as the keychain attachment. This means when you open it, the knife is sort of fighting against the keychain for space so its harder to use. If it opened the other way, youd be able to hold the keychain as a sort of part of the handle, and the blade would be free from any obstructions.

Otherwise, it seems well-made although I just bought it.
A must have for every key chain     On: 2007-08-23

Bought as a replacement for my wife, airport security decided her old one was a threat that must be stomped out.

These are perfect little knives, the scissors and tweezers make them indespensible! The only thing I could think of to improve it would be to have the led light option not cause you to give up the tweezers.

The craftsman ship is impeccable, if you have ever had a cheap imatation pocket knife you will be amazed at the difference.

it looks fine but smaller than expected     On: 2007-08-13

it looks fine but smaller than expected. the consequent advantage is: it can be carred everywhere easily.
Pocket knife     On: 2007-08-08

Bought it to replace one my husband had been carrying in his pocket for years. Wass still in great shape but forgot to leave it at home and it was taken at the airport. No problems with it ever
Nearly perfect, but with one flaw that makes the blade almost perfectly useless     On: 2007-08-08

I bought this knife for the legendary Swiss Army knife quality and the utility it offers on keychain. While the quality of all the tools is excellent, the placement of the keyring results in your key tangling in the middle, rather than the end of the knife when the blade is opened.

Having tired of trying to grip my keys when trying to use the knife, (and having the knife confiscated at the airport when I forgot to remove it...) Ill likely try the Leatherman Squirt S4 next time.
nice little tool     On: 2007-07-26

nice little tool! worth the money, i pretty much use this at a few times a week, its really useful.
Good solid little knife     On: 2007-07-25

This is a pretty basic but useful tool. Its got some of the more standard features youd need in a Swiss Army knife (e.g. blade, file, scissors) and is very compact, making it perfect for a keychain. I use one of these all the time for various things throughout any given day.
great pocket knife     On: 2007-07-15

I gcarry this knife with the one key I use at work all the time. Lightweight, use it at least 10 times a day to cut something, file a hangnail, tighten a small screw. Chicks dig me when show them my blade. TW.
Swiss Army knife     On: 2007-07-13

This product was exactly as expected. Perfect for the purpose for which it was purchased.
Favorite Pocket Knife     On: 2007-07-12

I surprised my husband who had lost his favorite pocket knife with this Victorinox Swiss Army Knife. He always takes it with him and it has come in handy so many times. It has so many features that seem to work for all our everyday needs. Great quality and great price and surely good gift for just about anyone.
Best little pocket knife available...     On: 2007-07-12

This is the third of these the family has purchased for "DAD". Seems that they walk, they are liked so much! A nice slim knife, with just enough tools. The quality of these knives is still (and has always been) exemplary.
WMD     On: 2007-07-11

I have been carrying one of these as long as I can remember, at least 20 years. It is the most usefult single thing I have. My wife always raises an eyebrow when I say that. I call it my WMD (Weapon of Minimal Destruction).

This is the Victorinox version. There is also a version made by Wenger. As I understand it, Victorinox and Wenger are at odds about who is the "original" swiss army knife. I dont care who is right about that, but I think the Victorinox version of the knife is nicer. Its a bit thinner, operates more smoothly, and is finished a little nicer.
Compact Swis Army Knife     On: 2007-07-09

This is a versatile multipurpose knife that serves the basic every day needs of the user. You can use the blade to cut open a package and the scissors to snip a wayward thread.

It is not too complicated and fits easily on a key chain. You hardly know that it is there which means when you are going through airport security you might lose it. This is why I had to repurchase this item. Take it off and store it in your luggage.
Victorinox Swiss Knives - The Genuine Article     On: 2007-07-08

Victorinox is the genuine article. My last one lasted ten years and I bought this one only because Id bent the blade doing something stupid. Victorinox is the original Swiss Army Knife!
love this!     On: 2007-07-07

The color in the picture is a bit different from what I received.. its certainly not purple/pink like the picture. I think its faded a bit (which is great.. it was a very bright prink). I find myself using it all the time, the knife is very sharp and the scissors are very useful. Very lightweight and great to put on your car keys. Just bought another for a gift!
Very satisfied     On: 2007-07-05

I wasnt expecting the knife to be so beautiful! Im really impressed with the quality of it. I tested out the knife right away by coring an apple, wow, the blade is really sharp! All in all, Its a really excellent pocket knife. You also have to love the blue!
Great Knife, updated a classic     On: 2007-07-05

My dad has loved these knives for the longest time and it was time for a new one (his last one has lasted ~5 years) and I asked him if he used the tweezers or toothpick and he said no, which I assumed (who really uses that huge toothpick and the weak tweezers) so I thought this knife would be great. The metal case with the indents feels great in your hand and is a very solid knife, it is thinner than the older models but feels even more sturdy and looks great. I highly recommend this knife for its quality and price and Im sure it will last a long time if not longer than the older ones!
My favorite accessory     On: 2007-07-04

I love this mini pocket knife. I only actually use the scissors and blade. Havent really found any use for the toothpick, file and tweezers.
ladies' size swiss army knife     On: 2007-06-26

Ive had 6 of these tiny classic knives, as keychains, for purses -- the handiest item Ive ever toted. Simply super tiny scissors, and very useful tiny tweezers, plus the very sharp tiny knife blade and nail file. And now they come in prettier colours, too! P.S. be sure to remove the knife from your keychain or from your purse before flying, though -- they will take them away from you. Ive lost 2 that way..
TSA Approved!     On: 2007-06-24

Im going to be so bold as to rate this product even before receiving it. The last one I had lasted 20+ years! In fact, its most likely being used by a TSA employee at the Minneapolis Intl. Airport! Im all for airline security, but the last time I flew, I forgot to remove my Swiss Army knife from my key ring. The inch & a half blade truly looked menacing & the scissor was still sharp after 20 years of faithful service. Im sure that TSA agent will enjoy it as much as I did. 5 stars.

Great little everyday knife     On: 2007-06-21

I received two of these knives as promotional items from a software company. I put one in my pocket every single day and it gets used about every single day. People need to consider that it is what it is. No, its not big and you cant use it for every job. If you have specific needs or want something bigger, then carry something different (I also carry a Leatherman multitool around the property). The knife is perfect for opening envelopes, boxes, those annoying plastic packaging containers, etc. My wife is always asking me if I have my scissors on me so she can cut tags off clothes. Ive used the scissors on numerous occasions cutting out a coupon while on the go. The tweezers are especially good for really tiny splinters. Ive also used the toothpick and screwdriver on many occasions. The file is the least used part of the knife for me. This is a great little knife for my everyday uses. I think the spare one will be perfect as my sons first knife when hes old enough.
Great little knife - color is too neon for me....     On: 2007-06-01

This is a great little knife, though as Ive noted, the picture did not look so bright, neon really and I would rather have had one that wasnt so bright - reminds me of the 80s...other then that, it does the job.
really Great little knife     On: 2007-05-31

This knife is missing the toothpick and tweezers when compared to the regular version with plastic scales. But what you get instead is a knife that is only ONE HALF as thick! Besides, who uses the toothpick or tweezers anyway. 99.9% of the functionality of this knife is in the 3 main tools. This thing is so amazingly slender that you can carry it around in your front pocket all day every day and never even feel that it is there. It will not rub in an irritating way like most things carried in pockets. Also it will never show a bump in your pants.

The fine aluminum scales look sleek and elegant and are even suitable for engraving. The scales are well textured without being abrasive and provide a secure, comfortable grip. It is the perfect executive pocket knife (except that it is not overpriced). It is also the perfect pocket companion for people who dont want or like to carry a pocket knife, but still may need to open a package or envelope, trim a loose thread, clean a fingernail or turn a screw once in a while. Lets face it, tool use is what sets us apart from the beasts. Mine has been carried daily for 7 years and still looks perfectly new. I sharpen it when needed and it will shave hair. The only time I do not carry this knife is when I want to have a pen on me. In that case I carry the similar Signature knife with retractable pen and tweezers. With either of these great pocket companions at hand, my life is made a little easier and more pleasant each day.

These comments are in no way a disparagement of the standard plastic Classic knife, of which I have several. That is also a great product. I just feel that the Alox version takes a great concept to its ultimate refinement. If they tripled the price, I would still be a fan.
Same model that lasted me 10 years     On: 2007-05-30

I had carried the exact same model for the past 10 years. I was happy to find that it had not changed. Great little knife.

This keeps me sharp.     On: 2007-05-17

My Father used to say "never trust a man that doesnt carry a pocket knife." I bear this in mind even today. This knife is small but very useful. It sits well in any pocket and doesnt bulge in a pair of suit trousers.

Best Key Chain EVER!     On: 2007-05-14

Ive been using one of these for years & I bought this one for my teenaged daughter. The scissors are the key component to this item.Ever have little strings hanging from your clothes? Ever have a plastic or foil bag that you cant open without spilling its contents all over the place?I actually accidentally cut myself once on the knife - be careful! The nail file, tooth pick & tweezers bring this item to the top of my MUST HAVE list!
I Would Feel Unprepared For My Day Without It!     On: 2007-05-13

For many years now, I have carried one of these small Swiss Army knives on each of my two key rings - one for work and one for home. Barely a day goes by when I do not take one of them out of my pocket to use once or twice - to quickly file down a broken nail, to tweeze out a small splinter, to cut open a small item with the scissor of something larger by cutting the wrapping tape with the knife blade - the toothpick is used daily! I cannot imagine being without one. Of course, I own larger and more multi-purpose knives, but when it comes to carrying something this handy on a key chain or ring, you just cant beat them!

There are two major (authorized) manufacturers of Swiss Army knives: Victorinox, the maker of this particular favorite of mine and Wenger, a reliable alternative brand that makes many similar and some even nearly identical models. I have used both over the years and have found there to be absolutely no appreciable differences in the quality, durability or pricing of the knives. With so many models to choose from, it probably makes sense to decide which features you need and then shop both brands for the best price you can find. But back to the knife at hand, the SA Classic SD Pocket Knife.

This is the one of the smallest knives in the Victorinox line. Measuring only about 2 1/4" long and about 1/4" wide, it adds little by way of heft to a key ring. It is a compact knife containing a total of 6 equally compact tools. This is not for the big things. This is a small knife with small tools to deal with small things. With expectations appropriately set, it is unsurpassed in its usefulness as a basic daily tool.

The Tools
There are compartments on the outer casing of knife - each containing a small appliance. One is home to a small white toothpick that I have found to be entirely satisfactory - except that after a year or two of use, I seem to lose them. I think the molded shape wears a bit over time and repeated use and no longer holds itself snugly in the allotted compartment. They can be easily and inexpensively replaced though at any fully stocked retailer of the knives. On the opposite side of the knife is a compartment housing a micro-tweezer. Because it is so very small and light, it cannot be used as a regular tweezer, but only for light-duty needs. These include, I am pleased to report, removing small splinters and picking up objects too small for my increasingly clumsy fingers!

There are three tools that fold into the knife itself, one of which has two uses - actually providing a total of four useful mini-tools. These include 1) a flat spring loaded scissor, a regular blade and a nail file (which, as a guitar picker, I use almost daily) topped with the fourth tool, a screw driver head, small enough to be used for either flat screws or Phillips head screws - providing that they are small enough. Dont misunderstand - the smallness of the tools does not render them either token or useless, but their size is a factor in their usability in real day-to-day life.

Maintenance
This is nearly a non sequitor, but in the interests of completeness, I will briefly address it.
Years have gone by before anything beyond simple removal of dust and cleaning the instruments is required. One time, a blade seemed to be sticking just a tad and a quick and very short burst of WD40 took care of it - permanently. The knife is build to last until you decide you no longer want or need it.

Value
There are few things in life built for frequent use without planned obsolescence being figured into their design. This little pocket tool set is, happily, among them. For somewhere around $9., you can have something actually skillfully made that will serve you well and for a good long time. How many things can any of us really say that about?

I love mine and would feel not only unprepared, but somehow naked - or at least disabled - were I to leave home without one.

a good gift     On: 2007-05-13

gennerally its a great gift,I can just put in in my pocket and it looks cool with the cross of swiss army.but it only have one blade one scissors
and a nipper, not so many features.
But again,i like it.

This is a handy pocket tool that everyone should have in their key chain. Very handy when you need it!
Swiss army pocket knife     On: 2007-05-06

Everyone knows about swiss army knifes, I was just replacing the one I lost. Swiss Army brands are of excellent quality and very durable, I have owned one for many years.
Jack of all trades, master of none     On: 2007-04-30

This may be the "classic" Swiss Army Knife, but overall its a worthless knife. Its true that there are lots of gadgets on each Swiss Army Knife, but its also true that none of the gadgets work well. Ive never had a Swiss Army Knife that held an edge for a considerable amount of time. The toothpick is too large, only good for someone like Madonna with that huge gap between her teeth. The scissors are so tiny they become unusable. And, have you ever tried to open a bottle of wine with the corkscrew? Good in an emergency, I suppose.

I prefer Gerber or Leathermen multi-tools to the classic Swiss Army Knives. Its time to move away from these relics. Whens the last time the Swiss Army were successful in battle, anyhown? I doubt theyd win a war with this antiquated knife.
use daily     On: 2007-04-22

This little knife was a gift to me. At first I thought, what the heck am I going to do with this little thing? Now, it is one of the first things I pick up every morning before work. The knife I use frequently. The file screw driver blade I use often. The scissors I use to trim my moustache. The toothpick is the item I use the most. If I would lose this I would purchase another today. The tweezers I thought were useless.........until I had a small metal splinter in my finger I could not pick it out with my fat fingers. Im sold. Buy this knife, you will not regret it. Ask McGiver.
Swiss Army Knife     On: 2007-04-15

I have been a fan of Swiss Army knives since the early 1980s, when my sister brought me a Tinker from Switzerland. I have had several since then, replacing them only when the primary blade was almost worn away from sharpening. I particularly like the Super Tinker model, as it is a size that I can carry comfortably in my pocket, and it has the tools that I find that I need the most in a pinch. The tweezers represent the only defect in this knive as I see it, as they are almost useless.

I have given several as gifts over the years, and everyone seems to be happy with them.
Sterling Swiss Army Knife - how good is that?     On: 2007-04-10

Ive just discovered that there are classier ways to keep a utility knife on your keyring. No humdrum plastic red, black, (insert other colors here). These sterling silver Classic knives are fully functional as well as being a touch of snobby. I mean really - who wants to show off their sterling? Nobody. Thats why it feels so good to keep it with you, use it as you typically would. Eventually, however - someone is going to ask about it. And you can blush and say ...awwww shucks. There are several styles that look fancier/lacier. I chose this one because it was not quite so...obvious. No toothpick. BFD. REMINDER: Do NOT take this on your keyring to the airport or into a courtroom. Airports not so bad, but courtroom inspections are not so lenient. I lost a perfectly good Leatherman Mini that way.

Great Gift     On: 2007-04-03

You cant lose with this knife. Its a classic. My older brother is impossible to buy for when it comes to birthdays and Christmas. I sent him this knife and he loved it! Simple yet practical. He was very pleased... said it was something hes wanted but never bought for himself. Great quality, backed by Swiss Army. I highly recommend it.

Utilitarian 'Le Must'     On: 2007-03-26

A small Swiss Army knife has been my constant companion for the last 30 years. Its uses are myriad & often. They last like objects made like they used to make them. This one is a lot more attractive than its predecessor which, although still useful, is showing its 28 year age.
Classic Swiss Army Knife (Silver Alox)     On: 2007-03-26

The knife arrived in a very timely way, and it was in its original Victorinox packaging as expected. Very pleased with the purchase.
Little Red Pocket Knife     On: 2007-03-21

I love My Little Red Swiss Army Pocket Knife. It performs tasks like:

1. Cleaning finger nails.
2. Installing screws.
3. Tooth Pick.
4. Tweezers.
5. Sizzors.
And much more. I wouldnt be with out it.
Very small and very useful!     On: 2007-03-17

I have an old red Swiss Army knife that I cannot find anywhere that is almost identical to this one, but has a couple of extra tools including an adorable ruler. (for any of you men reading this, sorry, I meant USEFUL) It is a tiny bit heavier than this new one but considering the extra tools is well worth it. But I am satisfied with the new one as it has the main thing I wanted, the scissors, which are fantastic! You would never think something so tiny could be so strong. I have also used the tweezer a few times on my old one and again, it is so tiny but works great. While I havent actually used this new one yet, the quality seems to not have diminished from my original one...like I said it seems exactly the same except for the reduced number of tools.
Swiss Army Knife - What else do you need to know?     On: 2007-03-13

Victorinox and Swiss Army brand are all you really need to know if youre looking for a great pocket knife. The Swiss Army Classic SD Pocket Knife fits the bill for everything thats important in a handy knife.

For the price you pay for the knife at Amazon, you cant go wrong for even giving it a try. Shoot! If you dont like, whomever you give it to will love you for a great gift. Of course, they wont be able to figure out why in the world you gave it away either.
VERY USEFUL!     On: 2007-03-08

This is my second mini classic knife. I always keep a small knife like this handy for everything from adjusting my eyewear down to cutting boxes open. Highly recommended Swiss Army Knife model!
Great little knife     On: 2007-03-08

We purchased this for our young son, just as we purchsed this same product for older son when he was young. It is a perfect small knife to teach responsibility and etiquette in knife handling. The blades are sharp. We love Israel and enjoy the reminder of the country on the Knife.
I always carry one of these.     On: 2007-03-05

This is the most functional knife I have ever owned. I buy a new one every six months, I dont sharpen it, I just get another one. This of course is another selling point, affordability. The blade is sharp and will cut through the most annoying plastic that everything now comes entombed in. It is not a lock blade so you must be careful. This is the only thing I dont like about the knife, but I have not once in 10 years cut myself with one. The scissors are sharp and do a good job. The flat tip/file is great and hard to live without.

I have used this knife to remove small screws from aircraft to working on my computer. Cut zip ties and remove clothing tags. It is small and fits perfectly into my coin pocket on my jeans. And if I forget to remove it, it comes out clean from the wash, still in the pocket. Not recommended for your washers sake, but it does happen.

I am ordering another one as I just lost mine in Iraq. Cant live without it.

Smaller than anticipated     On: 2007-02-24

Im sure its my fault for not reading the description thoroughly, but I was surprised at how small this knife is. Ive attached it to my keychain, and havent found a practical use for it yet.

Perfect in Pink     On: 2007-02-09

Best little gadget to take anywhere. It's a staple.     On: 2007-02-08

This knife is the ONLY knife that goes with my husband everywhere-for about 30 years now. Occasionally he has to buy a new one after the blade becomes dull-they are not expensive. He esp likes the personalized one, green with the shamrock (my Irish sweetheart!) He has taken it all over the world and you would be amazed how this little knife comes in handy, especially if I need it to file a rough nail! Or if you feel youd sell your rt arm for a toothpick while on the road. I bought one for my sister-nurse, and mine is white. It is so transportable, but we dont carry it on the plane bec they are afraid that my 66 year old husband may use the 2" knife to hijack the plane.(yeesh!)
I love this knife!     On: 2007-02-06

So practical! I keep it on my keychain and use it all the time! The knife is durable and sharp and Ive used it to cut little things for picnic lunches in a pinch. The nail file is good for little snags, and the scissors are good for loose threads, and paper. Toothpick and tweezers also very useful. When I lost my first one of these, after a week of looking, I order another just like it right away! (of course the old one turned up the day my new one arrived, but now I have two!)

The Classic Pocket Knife     On: 2007-01-26

Ive used this item for many years. Unfortunately, when travelling by air I often forget to store it in my luggage. Hence confiscation leads to another purchase. I have also occasionally lost the plastic tooth-pick.
It is the most useful item to carry in pocket or purse because it has a small scissors, small knife and tooth-pick which all have numerous uses when one is out of the house.

I have 5 regular size Swss Army Knifes . They are useful but too heavy to carry all the time. I do carry the Small knife all the time and have been surprised at how often I use it. The size and weight are great, I do not even know that it is my pocket
Perfect for a purse     On: 2007-01-19

I love this little Swiss Army knife. I purchased this for my mother for X-mas. This is the 3rd one that she has gotten (2nd one I have bought her). She loves it, and cant live without one.

The only reason it got 4 stars, instead of 5, is because of the frequency of repurchase (about 5~6 years). The only gripe is that the pink casing falls off. That is the only reason for repurchasing one.
Wonderful gift     On: 2007-01-18

This is a great little pocket knife! The blade is very sharp, the nail file works well and the scissors are very handy. The toothpick and tweezers are a great addition. I have had many of these knives throughout my life and I will continue to buy them. Swiss Army - Victorinox Rock!
Nice product     On: 2007-01-15

This little gem is so perfect to go on your keys. The one I bought was the hot pink one. With this little knife attached to my keys, I can find my keys anywhere in my purse! I have used the scissors over and over again, they are very sharp, yet compact. I have not had need for the file or the toothpick yet, but the little knife is also very sharp and useful. I have used the tweezers, and I love that they found a way to squeeze them in the side of the knife. Very useful with children that get small splinters while playing in a wooden playstructure!

Very Practical!     On: 2007-01-14

I have owned this little knife in various colours over the years. I have other knives for heavier-duty work, but I always carry this one around and time and time again has it proven its worth. The scissors are good for snipping that stray thread off your shirt, the file for getting a chipped nail, and the toothpick for picking that one stubborn piece of pepper out of your teeth! The knife of course for almost anything ... and best of all it comes sharpened. Its kind of a bummer getting a new knife and not being able to use it to its full potential, but with this little guy you can be slicing and dicing right out of the package.

For the low price and with a colour for every person, why *not* get one?
Excellent/Compact     On: 2007-01-12

I love my swiss army knife. It is really small; much smaller than I expected, which is great, as it works wonderful as a key fob. Very light and unobstrusive in the front pocket. All the tools work good, but I mainly use the blade to open packages etc, and it is a work-horse. Very sharp and functional. And always accessible in my front pocket. Highly recommended.

Good Knife, Though Small     On: 2007-01-08

At the time I wrote this review, there was only 1 other review of this knife on the Amazon web site. That other review gave this knife 2 stars, which I think is rather unfair. True, its pretty small, but it is definetely well made, and it is useful for doing little jobs, like slicing cheese or whittling a smores stick. I personally would rather get a bigger knife, like the Huntsman or Craftsman, but this little guy would be perfect for someones first knife.

Great shower gift     On: 2007-01-05

I got one of these for my wife after we found out our 3rd was a girl. She liked it so much, she had my buy another 6 as gifts for hosts, etc. These keychain knives are cheap an you will use them a thousand times (maybe literally if you dont lose it first).

Handy on the keychain.
This is the genuine Swiss Army knife.
Dont bother buying the imitations.
super-handy ghost     On: 2007-01-04

This small knife is so light weight you barely know it is in your pocket. It comes to the rescue several times per week. At a family gathering during Christmas it helped open most relatives presents. The knife blade and scissors stay sharp for a long time.
Not quite what I'm used to.     On: 2007-01-04

I have carried the plastic version of this for many years. It is the most useful thing I own. I like to refer to it as my WMD (Weapon of Minimal Destruction).
I almost ordered this one, until I noticed it is missing the toothpick and tweezers of the plastic version. I would miss the toothpick, especially the look on my wifes face when I offer it to her to use (Ewww, gross).

Victorinox Rocks!     On: 2006-12-28

I had the original solid red Victorinox that was borrowed and never returned (It was about 10 years old and still going strong!)so I purchased this one. I came back and bought about 6 more in sapphire, amethyst, and red for Christmas gifts. Everyone loved them! Small in size, but a real workhorse, and easily hangs on your keyring without excessive bulk. It came in handy opening the boxes that were taped, and the blade easily opened the plastic packaging that comes on most items now. I definitely recommend this product. If you have very large hands or need a larger blade, buy a larger knife; otherwise, this is the one you want.
Don't drop it!     On: 2006-12-25

Boy, I would hate to drop this Camo colored knife while out camping.

I would NEVER be able to find it!
Great product     On: 2006-12-17

I purchased this knife 6-7 years ago for my husband and it is still in great shape. The swiss army quality is fantastic. I cant even tell you how many times this has gone through the washer.

I was glad to see this knife on Amazon just in time for Christmas. I purchased 2 more. You do not have to worry about the shamrock coming off, because it is embedded in the plastic. Its a great little knife, especially for a Notre Dame fan!
Great pocket knife...     On: 2006-12-12

... has everything a casual traveler needs - I keep it in my car. The great thing - the color matches the blue of my Subaru WRX!!!
Bought it for my girlfriend     On: 2006-12-12

Bought this as a joke/gift for my girlfriend. Yes, it is a bright, hot pink, not a more subdued tone. It is surprisingly small - no longer than two inches in length. I personally own a Swiss Army One-Hand Trekker Lockblade, though, so this may be why I expected a larger tool. The blades are very sharp, and the knife works beautifully, My girlfriend and I are both pleased with this knife.
sizzlingly functional!     On: 2006-12-08

My view on products: for something to be hot, its gotta be functional. The blades are sharp and durable. I use the scissors for cutting open packages, the tweezers for splinters...the list goes on. The keychain attachment means I carry this wherever I go. One of the best things I ever bought for myself!
A great and practical tool     On: 2006-12-08

A small, sharp knife, combination file and small screwdriver, tweezer, toothpick, and small scissors, all in one package that can go on your keyring. What could be cooler? Youll be surprised at how often you use the Classic.

The only question is, should you get the Classic, or the Rally, which is the identical pocket knife, but with a combination small philips head screwdriver / bottle opener instead of the scissor?

Its a matter of which you get the most use out of; I have both but prefer the Rally for the bottle opener. Most people have the Classic, perhaps because the Rally is newer and isnt as well-known.

Have a look at the Rally before you decide; it is on the Amazon website for the same price.
A Little Swiss For A Miss!     On: 2006-12-04

When I first saw this I wasnt too keen on it.
I wondered who would want such a little pocket knife when they could get the bigger ones.
I showed it to my wife who suggested we buy it as a gift for our fourteen year old granddaughter. I was hesitant about doing that but then, as chance would have it, when I showed her my new Victorinox Swiss Tool Set, she mentioned that she had previously owned a black Swiss Army Classic Pocket Knife. I asked her if she had liked it and she said "Yes, I used it a lot but somehow I either let someone borrow it or lost it. She said she used the nail file, scissors, tweezers and even the toothpick! Of course, after that it was a no brainer to order it in her favorite color, amethyst, a fancy name for purple.
When it came my wife thought it would make a good stocking stuffer or, depending on the amount limit, a great Secret Santa gift. She then made the comment, "What a great little item! You know I wouldnt mind one myself". Hmm, unless I am mistaken, I do believe that was a hint!

Just right for the smallest jobs.     On: 2006-11-09

I recently forgot to take my beloved pocketknife out of my pocket before visiting the Statue of Liberty and had to surrender it before boarding the ferry boat. Going for a while without my favorite knife was getting to me and I simply could not find a small replacement with the features I wanted most--until I found this little gem. It has a small blade, screwdriver/nail file, scissors (wonderful!!!) a toothpick and tiny tweezers. This very slim and compact package is just right for my pocket and it not noticible at all. Larger pocket knives tend to stick out and causing wearing issues on my slacks, but not this little guy. Its really a perfect gift too.
A great tool     On: 2006-11-06

I have carried this model Swiss Army Knife on mt key ring for years. The toothpich is great after eating ribs, the tweezers for removing splinters, the knife for opening boxes to cleaning fingernails, and the scissors for cutting anything from silk to toenails. It lasts forever.
Excellent     On: 2006-11-05

This is an amazing tool because you can handle in your pocket. Excellent for emergencies and the small scissors is powerfull for whatever you want. I recommend it, cheaper and easy to use.
Swiss Army Classic     On: 2006-11-03

I bought this one because my previous on was taken away in the airport, this is a perfect tool for me, the little tweezer is my favourate, i use it to tweeze my brow, get rid of blackheads.........
Great Key Chain     On: 2006-11-03

My husband and I both use this knife as a keyfob. Its just the right size. And youd be surprised at how often a little knife (even if just to open packages and mail), a screwdriver and a little pair of scissors come in handy. Just dont forget to leave it home or pack it in your checked luggage when you fly. Thats why Im on here -- to order replacements for ones lost at airport security.
I Wouldn't Be Without It     On: 2006-10-15

This knife is a "must have" item in my pocket ever day. I use mine every day, and I do mean every day. Because of its size some will think it is a joke, but that is only until they have had one for a while. The knife blade is very sharp out of the box. The toothpick and tweezers are very handy to have, and the screwdriver is beyond handy. Because of the size of the scredriver tip, it can almost always be used in common phillips tip screws as well as standard slot screws. It is true that this knife is way too easy to lose. I have owned probably upwards of 10 of them. I have also given out 10 or more as presents they are always appreciated. Get one, and keep it with you at all times. You will only be dissappointed if you forget to put it in checked luggage when you go to the airport as did I. The Will Rogers World Airport Security lady liked getting the gift. It was that or give it to TSA and I wasnt going to do that. A great product!
Incredibly Useful, Small and Pretty     On: 2006-10-02

This particular model from Victorinox is truly a pretty and useful knife tool. Its small size makes it easy to carry anywhere. With toothpick and tweezers, two small blades and a scissors, the tool allows a good range of uses while being about the most compact knife one could have in their pocket.

The knife is highly recommended for its versatility at a great price. You will be pleased with your purchase.
One of the best X-mas gifts I ever got     On: 2006-09-04

I got this little pink gem as a X-mas gift about 10 years ago (give or take a few years) from my sis-in-law. I have used it more than I ever thought that I would. Plus my son uses it. My friends all know that I have it wirh me & theyve used it too. While the scissors are tiny, they are sharp enough & great to have on hand for cutting out coupons while standing in line at the grocery store. Its also nice to have a little nail file for when your nail chips or breaks. That way you can smooth it down before it gets snagged. This stays on my keychain at all times (unless someone is borrowing it). one side of the outside has finally came off. I think because it got cracked a little from me dropping my keys so much. Other than that, its still in great shape.
What's not to like     On: 2006-08-27

Can't miss with Swiss     On: 2006-08-21

Like most people who have owned Swiss Army knives, I was upset when mine went missing. I decided this time to make sure I would never be without again. I ordered 3 this time and am pleased with the with both the ease of ordering and the quick delivery. I would definitely order again from Amazon.
Only one problem with this product     On: 2006-08-10

I have used this specific type of knife for years. It has more features at less weight and bulk than any other. Love its small size. BUT I keep losing the blanky blank thing. The Swiss have conveniently offered a loop on every one Ive purchased.

So on this my fifth or sixth, I going to tie a string on the loop and attach the other end to a belt loop!
Tiny size     On: 2006-08-07

This pocket knife has the usual high Victorinox quality. It is very portable, but its size limits its use. The knife is suitable for opening taped boxes, but the blade is not much larger than an exacto-knife blade. The scissors is best used for clipping loose threads. The screw driver will allow only very slight twisting force on a small, straight blade screw. The tool I find most useful is the nail file. It makes short work of dressing torn finger nails.
It Really is a Classic     On: 2006-08-05

While a bigger knife is certainly often easier to use, this great little item wont bonk around in your pocket or weigh down your purse. My wife and I have each carried one on our keychains for years. Yes, we use it for picnics as well as for cutting just about anything that needs cutting on the spur of the moment. The scissors excel on the small jobs theyre designed for. Dont be surprised if you lose the tweezers and the toothpick.
I use it every day     On: 2006-07-30

I have a variety of wonderful pocket knives and tools, but this is the one that I reach for again and again. So very handy on my key chain, with all the basics I need!
Swiss Army Classic     On: 2006-07-19

You just cant improve on a classic. Mine is attached to my key chain and receives constant usage. All the blades are sharp from the factory. The tweezers and tooth pick are great add-ons. The knife is truly a classic work of art (form & function.)They make many different colors but purists know red is the only way to go!
my new best friend :D     On: 2006-06-28

I had JUST recieved this only a few hours ago, and I was AMAZED. First of, when they say its small, they really do mean SMALL. This little guy is slighly smaller than your pinky. its SUPER light as well. it has 5 main gadgets:

1- knife
2- nail filer with a rectangular top (could be used as a small flat screw)
3- scissors
4- tweeeezers
5- plastic tooth pick.

I used it to open up boxes, remove the plastic wraps from DVDs, and it sinks into my little jeans pocket easily.
Its light, its compact, its BLUE...verry pretty.

Im sure this little guy will help me in MANY ways.
perfect for a lady     On: 2006-04-29

perfect little knife for opening your packages from shopping online! the Scisors are perfect for cutting coupons (joking) and the nail file in case that snaggle broken nail keeps bugging you, tooth pick and tweezers are also handy. This is cute and functional. this is not baby pink like the picture shows its more of a bright neon pink.
Great little thing...     On: 2006-04-07

I already own a pretty complex Swiss Army Knife and needed something I can have with me 24/7. Small, keychain size Victorinox. I am very satisfied with the purchase. It is useful, cute and small enough to use around a keychain.(Wish it had a bottle opener though). A friend of mine has the exact same one for years and except for the discoloring of the plastic toothpick due to age both knives look identical. Long story short this little one is as durable as its bigger cousins.
Absolute great product, very cool price.
the best pocket knife i have owned     On: 2006-03-27

i have had a pocket knife since i was a boy. my first was a 3.5 inch single blade with a wood and brass handle.
this little "classic knife" is so much handier. with the blade i can sharpen pencils or open packages. with the scissors, i can snip a string or cut an ad out of the newspaper. with the nailfile/screwdriver, i can pry things open or poke holes or untie knots. the tweezers are handy for pinching many things, not just splinters. the toothpick is easier to get between teeth because it is smaller than wooden picks.
the one i use now, i have had for at least 12 years. it fits in my front pants pocket with my change and the only reason i dont carry it is when i board an airplane. then it gets packed in my checked luggage and goes right back in my pocket after the flight.
Excellent Product     On: 2006-03-15

I love this knife; I use it nearly everyday. It fits on my keychain without weighting it down and all of the tools work very well. If Im not using it myself, someone else is borrowing it.
Great knife in a small package     On: 2006-03-13

I bought this for my wife to put in her purse, she lost her old one after several years of use. These knifes are from simple to complex; although this one is on the simple side it has everything you need for a small pocket knife. Quality is, as with all Swiss Army Knives, superb. Cant go wrong for the price and quality you get.
Essential     On: 2006-03-10

I cant imagine life without my miniature pocket knife. Well, more specifically, the scissors. I knit, spin, weave, and occasionally crochet and bead. All of these activities require scissors at some point. And the ability to carry scissors on my keyring at all times is the best thing since the bread slicing machine.

And they come in more colors than just red.

Bonus: Airport security now allows them - hurrah!
Very Handy     On: 2006-03-08

The reviewer who wrote about loaning his pocket knife out to everybody on his tour highlights the strength of this tool - its just so handy to have around all the time.

The small size allows it to sit on a keychain without weighing it down. The quality is superb. The price is reasonable, especially at Amazon. The uses of this knife, however, are almost limitless - I cant think of a day when I didnt use it for something.

Some examples include: opening boxes, letters, CDs and anything with a wrapper; cutting plastic ties, tape, nails (the finger kind, not the hammer kind :-) paper, cardboard; unscrewing small screws, removing splinters, filing nails (Ill agree its not as good as a proper nail file, but it works for me) and even the toothpick, while a little flimsy, does the job.

To be sure, theres a better tool for all of those applications. The strength of this tool is that youll always have it with you. It gets my full 5-stars.
Absolutely pretty and useful     On: 2006-02-19

This pocket knife is really cute and practical. It is in an amazing new color and I have found multiple uses for it.
I returned this item     On: 2006-01-30

The problem I had with this knife was that it was too small. I was replacing a SAK that had been lost and thought this one was similar. Actually it is pretty tiny...do read the fine print!
rebuttal     On: 2006-01-25

I quite disagree with "BP tilley traveler". I love my little purple knife and quite depend on the plastic toothpick - easily the most-used implement. I often feel at a loss when I travel by plane and need to leave it at home. On the other hand, Ive had many instances of an annoying splinter and I desperately want the tweezers to come to my aid. I have uniformly found them to be quite useless - nearly impossible to grab anything.
The knife blade is quite handy and I have found the scissors sometimes to be helpful.
Great knife but the file is all but worthless     On: 2005-11-30

The bumpy metal blade that pretends its a nail file is worhtless. The files on Gerber knives are sooooooo much better. Still, I carry my Victorinox knife everywhere.
say no more     On: 2005-10-22

In the depths of Nicaragua in 1992, a man offered to swap a horse for my partners SAK. Okay, so it had the corkscrew, but theyre not big in Nicaragua anyway.
Everyone should get one with their birth certificate to make life a tad easier.
Great product     On: 2005-10-06

Simple, very useful, compact AND beautiful! It can also be used as a keychain which is very handy.
Indispensable, don't leave home without it     On: 2005-10-04

I was on a tour bus in Bavaria with 40 of my closest friends when a woman said, "Ouch, I broke a nail!" I grabbed my Swiss Army Classic, flipped open the nail file and offered it to her saying, "This should help." And it did - she was happy but it took about 30 minutes to get it back. Thats because someone else used the screw driver to fix his glasses. Another person used the tweezer to pick at a splinter. A fourth person used the scissors to cut some threads and so on throughout the bus. Over the rest of the week, I must have loaned my classic to nearly everyone on the tour.

I used to be able to bring it along when I flew, but those days are gone. Now, when I check luggage, I pack it with my toiletries - otherwise, its always with me. I must use mine every day for something or other. I especially love the scissors. They are sharp and work great at opening CDs, cutting articles out of the paper and snipping loose threads. What else in the world is so good and so inexpensive? Note, I didnt say cheap - because this knife is definitely not cheap.
If you are going to carry a pocket knife, this is it     On: 2005-09-30

I am unable to imagine myself going somewhere without my Swiss Army knife (except a plane, of course). This 2 1/4 inch all-purpose tool is always on my key ring, and is useful for about 70 or 80% of those cases where you need some sort of tool but the tool box is inaccessible.

This gem has a tooth pick, a pair of tweezers, a sharp knife, a nail file, a screwdriver formed on the end of the nail file, and a pair of scissors. I have probably used the knife and the scissors more than any other tools.

The knife and the tweezers are useful for splinters and thorns, and thus the tweezers often become the third most useful tool. I must admit that occasionally I use the toothpick, particularly when real toothpicks are not available.

The screwdriver is small enough that it can also fit into a Phillips head screw. I have even been able to use the flat blade on some small hex head screws.

The difficulty with carrying tools is that they can fill your pocket very quickly. This small Swiss Army knife is small enough to fit into a purse or a pocket and yet large enough to be useful. While the larger Swiss Army knives have even more and larger tools and blades, they are also harder to carry. Of course this particular knife will not replace a tool box, but I find it amazing how many tasks I can accomplish with the simple tools available in this gem.

no can opener     On: 2005-08-08

The quality is great as expected for Victorinox, but it is really small. Be aware there is no can opener included.
A very nice knife, yet very small     On: 2005-07-09

I purchased this knife for my girl friend. It is obviously well made and is quite useful for everyday use. She liked it. But be careful, its much smaller than expected. Almost as small as my index finger.

thanks, prompt, great looking...like the blue after so many years of the red.
Good!     On: 2005-06-15

The small scissors and the small knife are perfect! I like it so much!
Cool, but a little too small     On: 2005-05-19

This knife is smaller than I expected. And I do like the one my friends have, a litter bigger, but nice if you want to cut papers or some big size thing. Using this one, you must bare the slowness because its so short for most of things you need to cut, Even apple & oranges.

Anyway, if you just want to have a cute tool for your key ring. Thats a ideal choice, otherwise, choose a bigger one!
Terrific Litle Keychain Tool     On: 2005-01-14

Ive been carrying these little knives on my keychain for over twenty years. These pocket knives have done terrific service all this time, opening packages, cutting up fruit, removing splinters and all of the light-duty chores that this minature knife was designed to to. My only complaints are not the knifes fault: (1) when I remove the knife from my keychain, its doomed. Ill lose it before it ever gets the chance to return to my purse, and (2) cow orkers and the like "accidentally" pick them up, and they disappear forever. Airport security considers these knives to be deadly weapons, although the only danger would be from a plane crew laughing themselves to death at the sight of a hijacker trying to overcome someone with a two inch long knife. But for trimming an errant nail or cutting an apple into manageable chunks, this is a great little tool.
great pocket stuff     On: 2004-12-06

bought one for my gf and she loved it, and also bought me one.

fits on key chain very well. the scissors and tweezers are especially useful. the knife is small, though.
Where do they disappear to?     On: 2004-10-21

I dont know why, but I cannot keep one of this type Victorinox Swiss Army knife for longer than a few months. I once bought one in Switzerland with my name engraved on it and it disappeared. I have a poor quality Chinese knock-off that for some reason does not disappear. Ive had a Case pocket knife for 15 or 20 years, no problem. This time Im buying three.

THIS REVEIW IS FOR THE RED VERSION OF THIS SAME MODEL KNIFE:
AN EAGLE SCOUT AT 12 YEARS OF AGE, IVE BEEN AROUND POCKET KNIVES OVER 30 YEARS. BOTH "REAL" SWISS ARMY KNIFE MANUFACTURERS, WENGER AND VICTORINOX MAKE GENERALLY GOOD QUALITY KNIVES. THIS PARTICULAR KEYCHAIN KNIFE BY VICTORINOX IS NOT UP TO STANDARD. IT IS MORE ORNAMENT THAN TOOL. I BELIEVE SOME OF THE EVALUATIONS ARE REFERRING TO SWISS ARMY KNIVES IN GENERAL RATHER THAN THIS PARTICULAR KNIFE. I RECEIVED THIS KNIFE FOR MY KEYCHAIN AS A BIRTHDAY GIFT. AFTER 2 WEEKS OF LIGHT USAGE THE SPRING FOR THE SCISSORS FAILED. I STUDIED THE KNIFE IN GENERAL AND THE QUALITY IS JUST NOT AS GOOD AS THE LARGER KNIVES. VICTORINOX SENT A REPLACEMENT SPRING FOR FREE. ITS A LITTLE TRICKY TO EXCHANGE THE SPRING. THE KNIFE FUNCTIONS AGAIN, BUT THE FAILURE IS IN THE DESIGN. THE WENGER KEYCHAIN KNIFE I NOW USE HAS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SPRING DESIGN FOR THE SCISSORS.
IF YOU USE THE SCISSORS OF YOUR KEYCHAIN POCKET KNIVES, PLEASE CHOOSE THE WENGER...AT LEAST UNTIL VICTORINOX ABANDONS THIS CHEAP SPRING DESIGN ON THIS MODEL.
Classic Indeed     On: 2003-12-05

After 14 years of service my Victorinox mini-Swiss Army Knife (SAK) has finally begun to show its age: the toothpick went missing, the enamel casing cracked, the insignia fell off. So Ive bought another (the original sits in a drawer, its knife blade as sharp as ever, the screwdriver still perfectly utile, the scissors are gummed up but could probably be cleaned out with some rubbing alcohol).

For versatility and simplicity its hard to beat this item. Sure there are SAKs with more blades and tools, but the simple knife/screwdriver/scissors combination is going to meet the vast majority of your needs (ok, it doesnt have a bottle opener: use a door strike plate, MacGyver). The toothpick is so-so, but I cant count the number of times Ive needed to tweeze something and used the SAK tweezers when I couldnt find the bathroom set. The key fob, while not the most exciting of features, does provide a convenient way to carry the SAK around with you.

This item is sure to please. I love mine. Youll love yours. Buy one for someone else - theyll love theirs.

NICE!!!     On: 2003-11-21

Not a bad knife at all. Small, handy, and useful. I have no problems with it. It has useful things, and its inexpensive. If you want a hardworking, durable, BIG Swiss Army knife, by all means, dont buy this one. For $15.00, however, I find it perfect.

A Trusty Little Pocket Toolbox     On: 2003-02-06

This particular pocketknife has become one of my personal favorites for many reasons. For its small size it might appear to be a sissy, but it will out do any single blade or three-blade pocketknife of comparable dimension with its extra utilitarian options.

When all tools are folded in, the unit measures about two and a forth inches long or a little more that five and a half centimeters. Weighing just a few grams, its a pocketknife that is basically so light; you wont even notice youre carrying it. Comes with a single blade which is about one and a half inches long (3.5 cm), a nail file with a regular screwdriver head, toothpick, tweezers, scissors and a tiny key ring for attachment, not to mention the Swiss Army quality.

Often inside or out, Im doing some kind of small project that involves typical constructive handy work, and have come to love the tweezers on this contraption. So nice to have that on hand the moment I get a splinter, especially when dealing with a painfully nasty one from fiberglass. I can just reach into my pocket; use the tweezers to pull out the sliver right on the spot, thus preventing infection and further aggravation. The least useful tool for me on this pocketknife has been the toothpick, I never seen it as anything grand, but its there anyway and doesnt take up too much space.

All tools except the toothpick are made of stainless steel, and I was particularly impressed with the scissors, made in good quality construction that will enable it to last for a long while. The toothpick on the other hand is made of a plastic, durable enough for its designated task. To use them, the toothpick and tweezers slide out of their slots and detach from the complete unit itself. This might create a potential for loss with these pieces, if theyre not returned to their rightful slots after use. But the only other draw back that I can see with this pocketknife is the small size might make it hard to operate. If youre not very nimble with your fingers, catching the groves on the tool edges to open them might be a little difficult. But generally speaking, all features are easy to pull open and put into position when desired.

Although its not exactly intended for heavy-duty work, its still a fantastic all-purpose tool well adapted for everyday encounters, like simply opening a box or envelope, cutting a string with a tight knot, or whittling a stick for roasting marshmallows. This little gadget provides the tool necessities and will save the day many times over. Plus the smaller compact size makes it travel a lot easier in the pocket and the transparent blue color makes it stylish and unique from its Swiss kin. Simply made for resourceful people with a strong desire for things of ingenuity and practicality.

A Tool For All Seasons....     On: 2002-08-02

After a number of years living out on the ragged edge of civilized society in the rural reaches of southern New Hampshire, I have learned the practical wisdom of always having a utility knife in my pocket. I have several of these Swiss Army pocket knives(one in the otherwise unused ashtrays of each vehicle, and one in my Lands End briefcase)and always have one on me personally. I cannot tell you how often I have used one to do everything from pick away the remnants of a sliver from my somewhat leery granddaughters thumb to opening a bottle of diet soda on a hot summer afternoon. It truly is a tool dfor all seasons, whether one uses it to pick away the ice from ones car door lock on an icy frigid morn or to snip off the tag from some flip-flops at the local Eastern Mountain Sports shop so you could walk around without being burdened by shoes or socks on a scorching day in the local hamlet of Peterborough. Having everything the common guy or girl needs in a pinch (knife blades, scissors, nail file, screwdriver, toothpick, and tweezers, and also has a key ring for ones car or house key. I have them in a variety of colors, but the one I usually carry is candy apple red! Enjoy!
The classic still a sentimental and useful favorite     On: 2002-07-26

I have been a collector of pocket knives since I was a kid and Im always doing something around the house, needing to file a nail, tweeze a splinter, cut off some twine or open a letter. I bought one of these years and years ago in the train station at Zurich with my leftover change and I have it to this day...

The knife takes a bit of sharpening--the type of steel used is resistant to rust and holds its shine, but it also makes it a bit more difficult to hold an edge. Nonetheless, with a good sharpening stone and some care, you can make a fine edge useful for opening letters, cutting twine or cutting open a box.

This version contains six tools, including the knife blade, scissors, nail file with screwdriver on the end, plastic toothpick, tweezers and lanyard/key ring attachment. If you attach a string to the ring, you can use the pocketknife as a makeshift plumb bob.

This is a small knife, just 2-1/4 inches long, so it fits flat in a pocket or purse. I personally like to have a corkscrew and Philips screwdriver as well, but that is on a larger model that doesnt fit so well in the back pocket of your trousers. Since this is so small, dont forget to remove it from your pants pocket before you head to the airport, as passengers are no longer permitted to board with such items.

Swiss Army Classic Pocket Knife     On: 2001-10-09

I think this is the best of the bunch of small pocket knives you can carry. The sissors cut most anything from paper to fingernails to small wires quite well and the knife blade can be kept very sharp. The fingernail file is not too useful except as a small screwdriver. The removable tweezers and pick work well also. It comes with a small key ring which barely can hold one key, but you really need a small chain to keep it with several keys.
A Classic at a great price...     On: 2001-09-26

This is a good starter Swiss Army knife. The blade is excellent and has stayed sharp for me for going on 10 years. Same with the Scissors, which I use all the time, and the tweezers...I have a slightly upgraded model that includes a very useful screwdriver tool.
Enjoy!

Everyone should have this knife in his pocket or her purse; another one on his / her keychain!
1) The blade is very sharp.
2) The scissors is vey functional. Some people dont like the spring, but its ok to me.
3) Im hoping they will put a ball-point pen on this knife.
