My wife is in the process of mending mine. I have had it for years and now its about time for another. Use it everyday in the summer since I am outdoors on the farm. Great Hat, but too small  On: 2008-02-06I bought this hat for my husband to use when he works in the yard. We had to return it, because even though it says one size fits all, it was too small for his head. We were very disappointed as it looked to be the perfect hat for him. I gave it 3 stars because the sizing is not very accurate. Perfect Hat On: 2007-10-11This hat is perfect for your outdoor treks. Kept the sun off my face and ears. I tend to burn easily so always need protection. It is not the most fasionable but it does what it is supposed to do. Great Sun Blocker On: 2007-09-08Bought one of these to keep the sun off my face. Shipment was hassle free and prompt. True test for this hat came during a recent stay at a local offshore fishery for a spot of fishing. As we are located right on the equator , the sun is intense throughout the day , 30-35 degrees Celcius daily. the wide brim offered more than adequate shielding , plus the adjustable size ensured a snug fit for the strong winds in the middle of the sea. An excellent hat which will be in my pack for many years to come. Quite nice, and effective  On: 2007-07-26I purchased teh hat for an extended camping trip, and it worked great! While its not the best hat to wear when pulling skiers behind a boat, for all day comfort, and sun protection the hat is great. a most practical hat On: 2007-07-06I do not like the appearance of boonie hats in general, so it is notable that I bought this hat. I did so because it is perhaps the perfect sun hat from a purely functional point of view. I live in the Southeast US where the summer sun is intense and it gets very hot and humid. This hat has the necessary 3 inch brim and UV blocking nylon panel on top of the crown for good sun protection while causing the minimum amount of discomfort by being feather-weight, fully ventilated in the crown, having a full sweat band of hydrophil and an ingenious (comfortable and effective) size adjustment mechanism. The rear of the brim does not bump into the shoulder when looking up or hunching forward. The supple, breezy crown feels like it is not even there. This hat is as close as you can get to the feeling of wearing no hat at all. For social occasions, I choose a different hat that looks better on me, but for strenuous, hot and sweaty activities when only performance counts, I grab the Bora Bora. Note that I wear a hat size of 7-3/8 (the average mans size) and I wear my particular one-size-fits-all Bora Bora hat at the largest setting. I like to wear it a tad loose, but this hat may not fit head sizes larger than 7-1/2 very well. This hat is about the same size as other hats labeled "large" and can be sized down from there with the adjustment mechanism. Tip: to get the wind cord out of the way without cutting it off, tuck it into the size adjustment loop. not the snazziest, but gets the job done! by: zenderman On: 2007-07-01 Ive used this hat for summer hikes, and also for long 10-15 mile runs in the middle of the afternoon...sure you lose some fashion points but it works great, keeps my head and neck much cooler than a typical mesh/wicking running cap. My only complaint is that the brim of this hat does not stay as rigid as I would like, it easily gets bent/rolled and stays bent/rolled, which creates an even frumpier/dorkier look! Oh well, function over form... Columbia Sunhat On: 2007-06-28The hat arrived in good conditon and earlier than expected. It affords good sun protection, and at the price is a good value. On: 2007-04-03After searching high and low for a hat that would both shield the sun, and fit my small head, I finally found this one! I was hooked since the first time I wore it. It is amazingly cool and comfortable. The brim shields my face and neck without being too large, and the draw string around the head allows me to adjust the size, to fit my small head. does the trick On: 2007-02-22I am fair skinned and made the decision to avoid sun exposure as much as possible. I am not so hot at getting sunscreen on, so this hat is a lifesaver. I wear it when I play tennis, when I go to the pool and when I mow lawns. It dries exceptionally fast, and stays on even without the strap. The band has elastic and can be adjusted so that it stays taught. Still it is very comfortable too. It breathes well so you stay relatively dry. Found no better replacement On: 2006-09-01I recently lost my Columbia Bora Bora booney hat. I couldnt find one in town, and nothing else I found came even close to it for comfort and function, so I ordered a new one through Amazon. The only thing its missing is snaps to secure the sides up (Aussie style), but I make that modification myself to make it the perfect hat. Great for kids! On: 2006-07-10This hat is great for kids. The adjustable band assures a good fit. The wide brim shades their faces and their neck and shoulders. Do wish the band around the top was khaki colored instead of black, but you cant have everything. Great Hat! On: 2006-07-09This hat is great, it has a wide brim, crown ventilation and the size is adjustable. I can either wear the hat as is and adjust it to fit or I can wear a sweat band and adjust the hat to fit over it on hotter days (and we get plenty of those in Phoenix!) Keeps the sun off. On: 2005-12-09I bought this hat for use in the Mojave desert in the middle of summer. I love it! It did everything I wanted in a hat: Kept the sun off. As a bonus, the mesh vent allowed what little breeze there was to cool my head somewhat. |
