Swiss Army Knives     On: 2010-03-07

I was looking for the small classic to attach to my key chain when on Amazon there was an offer of a buy one get one free! I keep Swiss Army knives in my "go bag" with other emergency gear and clothing. These knives are just too handy and are at the right price not to stock for emergencies.
Wonderful knife     On: 2010-02-24

I have carried one of these knives for at least 30 years. I had gotten one for my son several years ago and he recently lost it. This is a Christmas gift replacement. He just called today, 02/23/2010 to tell me he just found the one that was lost. Now he has a spare. He also liked the Classic knife. Great combination.
great stuff great price     On: 2010-02-09

swiss army knifes are always great stuff, not only for myself but also for gift. The price for two knifes are pretty good. I like them very much.
great     On: 2010-02-08

I bought this for my husband who had to throw his original one away at the airport when he forgot he had it in his pocket. The free mini knife is just like the one he paid $30 for at walmart!
Two Swiss Army Knives for a Low Price     On: 2010-02-07

Whats better than one Swiss Army Knife? Two Swiss Army Knives for a low price. The 11 tools on the Tinker model are NOT all duplicated on the Classic model, so they complement each other in function. One is even smaller than the other so you can bring one, the other, or both along, depending on what you might need "in the field". Famous Victorinox quality throughout.
Great     On: 2010-02-01

I have used the Classic knife for years, and this is the same one. The bigger knife is the same quality, but no sizzors, and is not early as handy.
Most practical swiss army knife     On: 2010-01-30

For my money, this is the most practical Swiss Army knife around. Its a good size, not too big, yet has all the most useful tools, including a phillips screwdriver. I also like the awl which I have found handy for various scraping/reaming jobs.
you dont need the kitchen sink     On: 2009-12-31

first things first; if you dont think you are ever going to use this knife, or you dont see yourself carrying it with you every day, dont get it. for you its utterly useless. but for everyone else, in my opinion this is the best knife you can get. i have sampled many different knives, but the victorinox company produces the best. everything about thier knives, from the shiny red hand grips, to the satisfying "thuk" the blade makes when closing is absolutely first rate. dont even consider another possibility, no matter who or where you are, this knife is the one for you. this knife is the perfect balance between function and weight. you dont need the kitchen sink, and a knife thats only a knife is almost useless.

now about the actual knife; they come rather sharp straight out of the box. if you plan on using the knife as a prying tool, or for other heavy jobs you may want to actually dull it a bit; the extremly thin edge sadly does not take too much punishment, but thats the price of a good edge. if you want to sharpen the knife a little more, do so very carefuly it would be a shame to ruin so beautiful an object. use a whet stone, than sandpaper and then a strop. for those of you who dont happen to have a whetsone lying about thier house, and dont know what a strop is, sandpaper can also be used however the blade will have`a scratchy edge. i use the large blade for tough jobs, and the small blade i keep very sharp for jobs requiring a lot of finesse, like whittling. for more information on knife sharpening, there are literally thousaands of sites on the web whose whole contens are instructions on such.

about the tools, the most commonly used one, i find, is the flat edge driver on the can opener. because it is so small, it can also be used on phillips screws. the canopener is useful for opening cans in a pinch. you can get a canopen in ten to fifteen seconds depending on the size of the can, and your devotion topracticing camping skills. the bottle opener can also be used as a mini crowbar. i use the flat edge driver at its edge mainly for prying. the wire stripper isnt for heavy duty work, and the wire has to be notched so it can catch on the wire strippers edge. the phillips driver on the side is actually excellent for freeing stuck screws, because it has a lot more leverage. the awl thingy works well as an awl; it must be rotated while working, though. i understand you can also use the little hole in it for sewing, however it does not strike me as the most efficient way to sew. but if you were shipwrecked and had to sew together sails for your escape raft, i guess it would save you a lot of time.

i use this knife at least ten times a day. it is perhaps the most useful tool in the world. whatever the case, if you do choose to get this knife, you will be extremly satisfied, i promise.

Ben's Swiss Army Knives     On: 2009-12-25

The Swiss Army Knife is the ultimate handy tool, which I carry in my car. The price is right for such quality. The pocket knife, which is free, is also great to have in my pocket. I use it often to cut open packages, etc. when you just cant seem to break the binding open.
Simply The Best. What else Is There To Say?     On: 2009-12-06

Victorinox Swiss Army Knife is the original multitool and it is still the best multitool. It is available with just about any tool combination you can imagine, offering unbelievable functionality. I dont need most of the tools that Victorinox offers on its various knives, thats why I chose the Tinker for an everyday carry, whether in my pocket or my purse. It has the set of tools I need and doesnt weight me down with stuff I dont need.

Some companies have tried to copy the Swiss Army knife, but they have succeeded only in producing cheap knockoffs. The quality of a Victorinox pocket knife cant be beat by anyone anywhere. The knives will practically last forever, and the only reason you will ever have to replace it is because you lost it, or it was stolen. At this price, why would anyone settle for less the the geniune article?!
The Tinker is almost perfect for daily use     On: 2009-11-15

My first Tinker model was a black one-- brought to me from Switzerland in the 80s. I used it for years before finding a red version in the US-- at a Surplus store. I have other models, but the Tinker is the only one I carry on a daily basis. I use it, every single day. It has no attachments that I dont need (scissors, corkscrews etc are nice, but I dont *need* them) and its small enough that I dont feel like I have a brick in my pocket. Tweezers are great for picking up tiny lost objects or splinter removal, and the leather punch is a great awl. The only difference between my Swiss version and the "American" (both Victorinox) is that the Swiss one has a Philips head driver with a horizontal "slot" gap in the tip. That allows it to pinch into a smaller head, while the non slotted one is a fixed size for only larger screw heads. I when I found I could get the Tinker in the US so easily, I put the original in my locked box so I dont lose it. Its a super knife, and I am the hero at the office, at parties (I can open the most complicated packaging easily) and anywhere I fine a loose screw, dull pencil or use for a toothpick (which you can buy in replacement packs). Id give it 5 Stars-- if this version had the slotted Philips head like my import. I own three in all-- black, red and engraved clear blue. [...]has 4 colors & can do the engraved ones, but theyre a few $$ higher.
Reliable Quality     On: 2009-10-05

This is about the 15th Victorinox knife Ive bought. I (we) still have them all and they are in fine shape. (I have a wife an four kids, hence the large number of knives of various models.) I like to purchase Victorinox knives because I can count on the quality. Ive tried buying other brands with very mixed results. Even my oldest Victorinox is still in great shape after 26 years. They come sharp and hold an edge well even though they are stainless steel as opposed to high carbon steel. The Super Tinker, Tinker, and Classic are my three favorite models. The kids get a Tinker when they start scouts and they get a Super Tinker when they get their Eagle rank (of Silver Award in the case of my Girl Scout).
Does The Job     On: 2009-09-26

Okay.

Youre not a ladies man. You dont need a corkscrew.

Youre not an outdoorsman. You dont need a fish scaler.

Youre not old. You wont need the magnifying glass for reading the newspaper.

Youre not a rescue worker. You dont need a serrated blade for cutting seat belts.

Youre not a real handy kind of guy. You dont need an assortment of screwdrivers, 1/4" bit adapter, wire cutter, file, or pliers like you would find on a full size multi tool.

Youre not MacGuyver. You wont save the world with your Swiss Army Knife.

This little baby is perfect for the little girls, or IT tech types, in my life. They can keep the larger one in their purse, or pocket protecter, then attach the smaller one on their key chain. Those tweezers are perfect for plucking their eyebrows, or clipping onto their joints; and then they can call me, a real man with mans tools, to come along and jump start their cars, change their flats, change their light bulbs, open their jars, and spray WD-40 onto squeeky stuff.

All kidding aside. My niece loves hers. She simply does not need all of those other things that come with the other tools. This narrows it down to a few simple things that she will use. A small blade for opening mail. Little screwdrivers for battery doors. Everybody needs a bottle opener. She loves the large blade for cutting big sandwiches in half since she simply cant finish those giant deli combos. Her favorite part is the little scissors.
Always a good value and an excellent set     On: 2009-09-21

This purchase was an excellent value and I know that they will be quality and durable knives. Ill put the large one in my car and it will get used often.

Great Pocket Tool     On: 2009-09-14

Lost my old knife and bought this pair as a replacement. Swiss Army quality and usefulness at an unbeatable price. Gave the small classic knife to my wife. She loves the little scissors.
Swiss army quality     On: 2009-09-12

Great quality, and a great price. Swiss army knives are the best available, and are the original multitool - I always carry one with me for all those small jobs that occur daily - computer service, opening packages, loose screws, etc.
dorm life     On: 2009-09-07

When everyone thinks of army knives they think of FIXITALL dudes and outdoorsy traveling people. Well, its not only these types that needs tools. The swiss army knife comes in so handy when youve moved out on your own but you havent started to accumulate years of junk for your future supposed family.
enter: college. tightening screws on a fan, cutting open tough packaging, replacing swatch batteries, and yes... even opening a bottle of beer. its a bunch of tools you need in life in a tiny little package. im not carrying it everywhere but i leave it on a hook with a mini flashlight and theres my workbox: the swiss army tinker and a mini maglite. The only thing i dont see my self using is a wire stripper, but that might come in handy for engineering majors. This is probably the only tool you need until you finally settle down.
best     On: 2009-09-04

Victorinox makes the best damn knives, wallets etc. If their name is on it, buy it.
Excellent products! It's a combo!     On: 2009-08-28

I didnt realize that I got two knives when I ordered from Amazon! Both of them are great! Handy, functional and pretty too!
My Third Tinker     On: 2009-08-22

This is my third Tinker as I managed to lose two of them. I have a Wenger that is similar but has a serrated blade and a small pliers. Ive had it replaced by Wenger twice but is also a good knife. What I miss is that the tinker has a bladed edge on the punch and that worked good for reeming the burrs off the inside edge of stainless steel tubing when someone at work had the correct tool without saying they got it. I miss this knife and needed to fill up the space for the free shipping. I paid $19 for each of my previous Tinkers. I even knew who found the first one I lost and asked for it back to no avail. So getting it engraved was a good suggestion. I used the can opener a lot more than you would think. Our kitchen can openers went out and it came in handy for that short period. The bottle opener is nice to have to, they didnt have twist off bottles in Mexico. You can abuse the knife pretty much and if it locks up both Victorinox and Wenger have replaced mine for just the price of shipping and no questions asked. So with free shipping and the extra knife, this is a bargain.
VICTORINOX TINKER     On: 2009-08-19

I have carried a Tinker in my pocket for the last 15 years and find it to be invaluable. I use the screw driver features constantly and the tweezers cant be beat. Its amazing that the pullout tweezer from my knife is more precise than the very pricey pair in our company first aid kit. Ive removed countless slivers, ingrown hairs, and extracted debris from wet paint. I have completely worn out two Tinkers and am thrilled with the third. I recommend this knife to anyone who carries a medium sized folding knife and doesnt require sissors or pliers.
Best Knife/Best Deal     On: 2009-07-30

Searched all the local MegaMarts, Sports Stores,Speciality Shops- Couldnt find a better deal. Only shortcoming was (I think)slow shipping. Otherwise-great product-great deal.
Everything I Need     On: 2009-07-06

This Swiss Army knife has exactly what I need for making quick adjustments and repairs at work. Great price and a great knife. Thanks Victorinox and Amazon.
Great knife     On: 2009-06-30

This is a great knife., I own several Victorinox Swiss Aarmy Knives, and so far this is one of the best. cause is small, and fits your pocket really well, and you dont even remember its there. One of the things I wish it have as the climber model is the Scissors, they are so helpful, and almost a daily tool. But anyway, it is handy even it dont have the scissors., the swiss army knife, happens to be very handy, and it will become your companion for life. Besides it comes with a Classic knife, which is so small, and have scissors, and a nail file. This is a great set of pocket knives.
best pocket tool     On: 2009-06-27

I bought this to replace an identical one that I had carried for 20 years. Love the knife. Not only is it the best pocket tool ever, it even found my old one!
What's better than one Victorinox Swiss Army knife? Two!     On: 2009-06-23

After I thoughtfully (okay reluctantly) donated my Victorinox Swiss Army Midnite Minichamp Pocket Knife to T.S.A. on my last trip out of town I needed to find a new knife.

Although the light/pen additions to my previous knife were nice, I decided I really wanted the toothpick/tweezer combo this time. Additionally the idea of receiving the second knife as a bonus was a great selling point to me, just in case I am forgetful again and have it confiscated at the airport.

All of the features on both of these knives are useful. The tools I find myself using over and over are the small blade (Great for opening Amazon boxes, just slice carefully!), the bottle opener (For that cool evening beverage on the deck) and the tweezers (For the slivers in my feet from walking barefoot). Ive decided that the larger of the two knives will be the one I carry in my purse and the smaller will be my back-up.

I would have loved to not need a new knife, but at this price it wasnt a punishment to buy another. I am also now considering buying some extras to give as gifts.

Great pocket knife     On: 2009-06-14

My first "multi-tool". Ive owned four or five Tinkers and have carried one on my keyring for well over 20 years (with about a year and a half gap where I carried a Leatherman P4 instead). The reason Ive owned so many is people keep admiring them and I end up parting with the old one and buying myself a new one.
another argument for screwcaps     On: 2009-04-17

In the search for maximum function / minimum mass, Tinker leads the list. Wenger and Victorinox each make a dizzying array of combinations, most of which are simply too much steel to lug around. (For fun, check out the Wenger Giant: Wenger The Giant Knife.) Wenger no longer makes a corollary to the Tinker, though the Classic 11, which used to be the Highlander, and the discontinued but still available Teton, are close and excellent. Here on Amazon we have only Victorinox, and that means Tinker. Theres no good reason for 2 blades unless you let one get dull, and bottle openers are becoming obsolete, but a Phillips screwdriver is essential, and having a second size straight screwdriver makes the nibbler can opener bearable. (For a real can opener, look at a Wenger or GI knife.) Next most useful tool would be pliers, thats a Deluxe Tinker, but pliers moves this from a tool you carry in your pocket to one you try to keep handy in your pack or bag or glovebox. A Phillips blade obviates a corkscrew, which is no great shakes because if youre carrying a glass wine bottle you can also carry a corkscrew, or if it comes to that you can push the cork in. The ultimate answer is for bottlers to embrace the better stopper, screwcaps, and leave cork oaks in peace.

If grooming or paper dolls are the extent of your agenda, slimmer knives will work. (Thats why I got the combination. To file my nails and clip coupons I need only the baby knife. To build a raft and get off the island, a Tinker serves better.) For the ideal combination of tools at less bulk, Victorinox makes a Wenger-sized Tinker that I think is close to perfect for everyday carrying. Victorinox Swiss Army Knife

Tinker is available in a rainbow of colors and variety of logos. Id have loved a purple one or a Mogen David on blue instead of a Swiss cross on red, but this classic combination is a terrific bargain.
Great Choice for a Boy Scout Gift!     On: 2009-03-26

I was looking for the perfect amount of not too complicated and just enough gadget for a emerging cub to boy scout gift! The price was very reasonable and the product was true to description! Loved the bonus gift!!!
Love these knives     On: 2009-03-05

They are good and I do not know why we cant take them on airlines as who was the last one on a plane to die from a Swiss Army knife? Small on on my key chain for easy access to tools.
that is a very good product     On: 2009-02-28

I only pay at a low price to buy this knife which i realy want.
Victorinox Swiss Army Tinker with Free Classic Knife     On: 2009-02-12

I have loved Swiss Army Knifes for years. They never wear out and the only reason you will ever have a need for buying another is you lost yours or you just want a wider collection of them. Over the years I have lost a couple unfortunately but I get so much satisfaction from them they more than pay for the ocassional replacement because of my oversight. Engrave them if you can because very few will ever get turned into Lost & Found. This two knife set is an excellent value because you get a full size knife for your toolbox, vehicle, or work, and a small one to carry everywhere you go. I highly recommend this set. Dont take these when you travel. Airport security guards love these too and they will confiscate them in the name of security but we all know they end up at their houses.

Nice combination     On: 2009-01-12

This set is a nice combination and the price is very good. Both my daddy and husband liked the set.
Great knife for an unbelieveable price.     On: 2009-01-07

Great knife for a wonderful price. We are in the Civil Air Patrol and need such a knife for Emergency Services and it has everything but the kitchen sink. Quality is tops. Love it! We keep one in the glove compartment of the cars.
good choice for couples     On: 2008-12-23

nice choice for a stocking stuffer for couples: one for each. leave it home when you go to airports. i know of at least 5 being confiscated from my gift recipients...
Another quality Victorinox product.     On: 2008-12-16

Classic Swiss Army product at an Amazon value price.
The only reason I did not go with 5 stars is that the
knife that was bundled in this package is really too small to use
for much of anything. Other than that, no complaints.
In fact, I purchased a couple different other models
of knives after receiving these.

great pair of swiss knife     On: 2008-12-06

the pair is just great. One of em is big and not very appropirate for a keychain addition, but the other is just great for a keychain addition. The bigger one is good for camping, fishing and outdoor stuff...over all a great buy and a great holiday gift as well...
Perfect Pocket Knife     On: 2008-10-01

Ive always carried high carbon steel knives. The reason is that stainless steel just does NOT get sharp enough, nor does it hold an edge. The "so-called" high carbon stainless steel blades arent much better. But, one day I aquired an old Victorinox Officer Suisse (identical to the one offered here), and soon packed my very old, collectable, Schrade and Ulster knives away. This Swiss Army knife is easy to sharpen and holds a fairly sharp edge. It wont rust, is easy to clean and hangs nicely from my keyring. It is not a prybar - the blades are very light weight. But, as a nice gentlemans pocket knife it is all that I need. BTW - the cheap Chinese made look-alikes are garbage. This is a high quality knife.
The knife for the serious tech worker.     On: 2008-09-16

For the busy technology professional, a good knife can be the single most used tool. The Victorinox Tinker is pretty close to perfect. It has the critical core screwdrivers -- flathead and Phillips -- as well as simple punch, pick, and tweezers. It is NOT a huge pocket-tearing monster. The biggest problem is not leaving this miniature workshop behind!
GREAT PRODUCT FOR A GREAT PRICE     On: 2008-08-29

I recently lost my keychain knife and was looking to replace it. The price on this package was so good I couldnt resist it! Now I am purchasing another set as a gift and will probably be back for more before Christmas! I also couldnt believe how fast I received my order. This a great product, great price.
classic knifes     On: 2008-06-18

Great deal for 2 different models. I keep 1 in the car and one on my key chain.
Great Combo Package     On: 2007-12-11

I love the Tinker. It is a great versatile tool. Works great for camping. I had one before (that I paid $19.99 for by itself at a sporting goods store) but I lost it. I got quick delivery. This is a great value!!
