This great little saw is perfect for backpackers and hikers who, for one reason or another, need a saw. One of the many times I use mine is on my annual trip for the family Christmas tree. It is small, and weighs only 3 ounces. The stainless steel blade has teeth like those of a bowsaw, which are perfect for cutting through wood very quickly. The handle is also well built, and the hinge very smooth. Many of these "Wyoming" style folding saws have handles constructed of wood, which quickly begin coming apart, but this handle is tough. Also, instead of the traditional wingnut-style hinge, which gets loose after a while, this saw has a tight hinge which should not loosen up.You can also buy a bonesaw blade for this saw, great for a hunter who wants to carry a lightweight saw for his game. A sheath is also available, which can be attached to your belt, making the saw effortless to carry. Of all the folding saws I have used, the Gerber is definitely the best.
