Two pots, covers, and a handle     On: 2008-08-21

I think that the title of this item is a little misleading to the casual viewer, but it is exactly what I wanted to supplement the frying pan combo that I ordered with it. Shipping was fast, and the quality is good. I taped down the lid handles to cut down on the noise factor, but other than that they are good to go.
Simple and Lightweight!     On: 2008-06-10

This is simply two non-stick kettles (interior and exterior) with lids and compact aluminum clamps. The non-stick coating also makes for faster heat transfer for more even cooking. For serious backpacking, two containers to cook with is all you need. These pans are guaranteed dent-resistant and with the non-stick, cleanup is thankfully easy. With 1.9 liter capacity (thats one-half gallon), you can cook enough for four people. The best part about this five-piece set of pans is they only weigh 11 ounces!

These camping pots are perfectly suited for the occasional and weekend camper/hiker! Lightweight and a good size.
Great starter kit and not expensive too.     On: 2006-11-13

Part of my parameters when evaluating backpacking gear is light weight, space savings, functionality and cost. I love this pot set. The 2 pots with lids come with the grabber at just a little more than the 2qt pot and lid alone. They are non stick and very light weight. I generally use just the larger pot and grabber only but got the kit as it was less expensive than buying the larger pot/lid combo and grabber separately. My son is a Boy Scout and many kids start Scouts but have an issue with backpacking as they are usually about 12 years old and their parents, who may know nothing of backpacking control the purse strings. I like them, was cautious as I did not know how long my son would continue and use the gear I was buying. So, along with my functionality requirement is a cost requirement. This pot set hits on all cylinders. It is aluminum and therefore light weight. It is non-stick and easy to clean. It uses a pot grabber which I prefer to swinging handles or fixed handles. At almost 2 qt, it is big enough for most meals and large enough to be able to store shortened utensils, backpack stove, the grabber, and other gear inside to save space in his backpack. Now, the reasons it is not rated 5 stars... Part of the way they got the light weight is thinner aluminum than the high end anodized and hardened pots. It will dent or bend if crushed or hammered on. We have used it for a year without damaging it but I can feel it and know it is possible. Cost is kept down with the thinner material also and the more basic design. It does not have grooves in the bottom. It is just a smooth sided pot on all sides including the bottom. If you are using the very small backpack canister stoves, which already topple easily, the slick bottomed pot will slide and topple even easier. With medium sized or larger stoves this seems to be no issue. When cooking make sure you have a stable and well centered situation with any stove and pot, with this one, more so. All in all, it has been the right decision for us. If he continues to backpack and enjoy it, might he receive a better pot for a special occasion or great report card? You bet! There is still a little sister to go. For now, this one is perfect.
