 Bear Repellent - Bear Pepper Spray - Animal Deterrent Average Rating: 4.0 Total Reviews: 6 More Information Bear Repellent/Pepper Spray  On: 2008-08-02After receiving the product, I went outside with my girlfriend and we both practiced the use of the spray and aiming so that in the case of need under duress, we would be ready and confident to use this product. This spray even though not yet tested on a person (as it is intended for protection) does indeed have a high pressure spray pattern. Big Enough  On: 2008-05-28Big enough for bear, but works well on mammals of equal or smaller size (humans, dogs, skunks, etc). Great if your on a bicycle because it will fit in a standard water bottle holder. If you need real non-leathal detterence, you cant go wrong with this. Bear Defense Spray on two occasions  On: 2008-04-23I had the chance to use this Bear Defense Spray on two occasions, one was during a promotional radio comedy show. The Bear was tame and I got $50 for Spraying it on a Bear. Didnt seem to work at all, it sneezed a few times but it didnt do a thing. If it hadnt been tame (w/ a trainer), I would have been torn to pieces. Occasion two was when I went hiking in the mountains. I came across a brown bear near a small creek and he came at me. I froze, panicked, took the Bear Defense Spray and used it. The only thing it did was startle the Bear, it retreated but eventually came at me again, but I had time enough to run back to my truck where I hid for safety. Bear adrenaline, either from male heat or anger, is enough to override the effects of a little pepper spray burst, just like a man on drugs or alcohol can still attack if hit with pepper spray. In all, I wouldnt recommend these Bear Defense Sprays at all unless you are dealing with a Bear cub. Don't know. On: 2008-01-31The seller was terrible. A very embarassing experience, I was unpacking this product, when the safety came off and I accidentally sprayed a very short burst in my house. It was slow in taking effect (ON ME) as it was a very brief burst. But let me tell you I have no fear that a full burst into a villians face will put him\\her out of action long enough to get my disabled self away. I am going to buy some for my 60yo mother touring outback Astralia. Hope it works on crocodiles, personal experience tells me that this IS good stuff. |
