Good bag down to mid-40s; Beware in colder weather     On: 2008-03-05

When I went to sleep in this bag, the temperature was in the mid-50s and I was comfortable. During the night the temperature dropped to 34, and I was uncomfortably cold. I was using a thin sleeping bag liner and wearing heavy long johns w/ a stocking cap and thick socks, but was still losing enough heat not to sleep well. At 3:00am I woke up with very cold feet, and had to put my fleece jacket in the bottom of my sleeping bag to keep them warm.

The bag packs down well and is very light, so I like it for warmer weather. If I were going to take it out again on a night like this, I would take a heavier bag liner. Unfortunately, that defeats the purpose of a light compact bag.

Maybe the 30 degree rating means that the bag is survivable at that temperature, and doesnt relate to comfort?
hot!     On: 2007-12-26

this sleeping bag is surprisingly warm!! i was sailing down the nile river afraid of being eaten alive by the mosquitos so i had to stay bundled up and was sweating the entire night ... but the opening at the bottom comes in quite handy and the cinches around the head is a nice feature. and it folds up quite nicely (and small)!
an adequate bag     On: 2007-11-05

When i was camping in 32F weather, in a tent with a sleeping mat, I was cold. When I camped in 55F with a tent, using natural grasses under the tent as my mat was unavailable, I was fine. But, I am prone to being cold at night.

Pros:
*Packs to almost nothing
*Has its own compression bag included. A decent compression bag costs a bit.
*I GUESS its versatile because it can be used in 30F or very very warm weather.
*light weight for the money

Cons:
*not a 30F bag in my opinion
*foot ventilation might only be needed during warm nights. In which case, you wouldnt be using a "30F bag", right?

In cooler weather (30F? 40F?), you might want to throw a hot water bottle in the footbox shortly before bed and leave it there as you sleep. Also try to shake it out to increase the "loft" as much as possible before going to bed. It can be a decent 3 season bag if you cheat this way.

If you are 6 feet or taller, consider getting a long left bag. I bought this in a store and got the regular right because thats what the employee showed me. I am ok in it, but wish I got the LL version because it might affect the thermal qualities.

Exceeded my expectations     On: 2007-07-31

I have to disagree with the poor reviews. I love this bag. The price is hard to beat. It is warm for the weight and it packs down to nearly nothing. I like the zipper feature for my feet. Gives you a bit more space on warm nights. I bought this bag thinking it would be disposable, but it has held up after months in Africa.

Is it a summer bag?--definitely. Could it be bigger, have a full length zipper?--sure, but that would defeat the objective of being ultralite. (I am 60, 200 lbs and the long is adequate.)

I own several other high-end sleeping bags. For cold weather or mission critical applications, I am going to pay for top quality. Slumberjack has impressed me though, and I would not hesitate to buy another one of their products.
Not pleased.     On: 2006-08-03

If your toes get hot it has a zipper for that. (useless) Better off getting a rectangular if you need more legroom.

Its small (Even the long one)for a big guy.

I wouldnt use it for anything but the summer (and you will most definatly need a good pad)
Pain in the butt to get into     On: 2006-06-30

The bag is nice and everything, but the zipper does not come down very far and makes the bag tough to get into.

Also, my feet got cold because of the zippered area. Not really sure I understand why its there. My feet never get warm, usually cold.

I liek the material and the look. Also seemed to keep me warm on a 60 deg. night.
