Great Value     On: 2008-09-29

I recently moved from WI to TX. I did some camping in May and realized that I needed something to move the air around when sleeping! So I purchased this fan! It worked great! It was silent to allow me to sleep and it really moved the air around. Make sure to if you are sleeping more than one person in the tent to buy more than one! It moves air but not very far so purchased one for each member in the tent to make there lives easier also! Great product and highly recommend! Thanks

This is a rather adequate small, portable fan that will put out some air circulation. It is rather lite-weight, until you put in the monster sized D cell batteries. The weight gain is considerable. The battery power does not last long either, approximately three (3) hours if you are lucky when using this in non-stop mode. Have to agree with one of the other reviewers that when you insert the batteries the fan does tend to bulge out and then you have to wrestle with it trying to put the cap back on. I, too, broke the tabs on mine but that was fixed with duct tape. If attaching this item to your tent ceiling using the provided magnet, it will make the ceiling sag quite a bit, especially after inserting the batteries. Recommend using this item in a tent where you have some head room and not worry about banging your head on it. The fan blade is made of plastic, so, theoretically, you should not have to worry about getting cut. Overall, an alrite item.
Life saver     On: 2008-08-07

I took this little fan on RAGBRAI, a 471-mile, 7-day bike ride across the state of Iowa. It is hot and muggy in Iowa in July, and I knew I would need ventilation in my tiny tent at night in order to sleep well. It worked perfect - I situated it so the fan blew across my upper body, and it was just enough to keep me cool and the "white" noise of it was quiet but very calming. It doesnt take up much room in bag, and in a summer camping situation where electricity is not available, I would never go without it. So glad I found it while surfing around Amazon.
Mediocre personal fan at best     On: 2008-07-16

My family and I bought this fan before a camping trip to South Carolina in July. I was really looking forward to a cool breeze in our tent. Much to my dismay, this puny fan did not provide ANY breeze. Holding it in your hand, 6 inches away from your face, it is a mediocre personal fan. It might work for one-person tents, but for families or hot climates, this isnt worth its weight.
Fragile Blades     On: 2008-06-30

I have one of these fans. It worked great until the blades broke off. I got about 4 or 5 camping trips with it. Next time I took it out of the camping chest the blades were broken. Not much good now & dont know how to get more blades. I would suggest instead of this item to find a tent fan with a good cage around the blades to protect them. No chain is stonger than its weakest link, and these flimsy unprotected blades are its weakest link. I would think Coleman could do better than this.
Tent relief for one     On: 2008-06-23

For one person, this fan can be a sleep saver for those 80 degree nights, though its weight and battery requirements would keep it out of my backpack. We used it for car camping and there it worked well. Because its flexible propellor doesnt push a lot of air, its position and direction are important, and the fan is slighly frustrating to move around, due to the strong magnet clasp. It needs to be 1-2ft from the target to be felt; definitely not enough for two or three people on a hot night.
Great for one person     On: 2008-06-16

We just returned from a Cub Scout campout in South Carolina, the temperature was 98 degrees and the humidity was about 90%. This little fan was the best thing I brought along. I am ordering two more so the kids can be cool next time - it really doesnt do much unless it is blowing right in your face, but for that, it is wonderful. The blades are very safe, too; the kids could put their hands right into the spinning blades and there was no harm done to the fan or the fingers.
Works great     On: 2008-04-23

Works great in tents for dogs that suffer from gas problems but it eats up batteries like a hog!
Great idea for tent campers.     On: 2008-01-08

I bought two of these for Christmas for my son and niece. They really only use their tents for sleepovers in the backyard. They both tried the fans and loved them. A little circulation is better than none. Their tents are 3-4 person size. Both said they could feel the air just fine.

Gets the job done in hot and humid N.C. beach weather     On: 2007-10-01

I have a 7 by 7ft Swiss tent that I bought from this website, and I bought two of these colemen tent fans to put in it. They work great for this size tent in hot and humid N.C. Outer Banks beach weather. I think however, if you had some very huge tent that fit 6 or so people, you probably wouldnt be able to feel the fans from that distance. I think their range is roughly 20-24inches.
Handy     On: 2007-07-11

We used this fan on a boat trip. Worked very well with the magnetic attachment to hang over the bed.
Small but mighty     On: 2007-07-09

This was an excellent choice. For being very small it works well...In Va.it gets really sticky and when there is no breeze you would be surprised at how good this little fan feels.Fits right over our bed in the camper on the air vent.
Thanks again for the speedy delivery
Excellent Fan, Blade Breaks If Not Detached     On: 2007-07-02

I absolutely love this fan. Considering its size and that its a battery operated fan (i.e. not an AC fan), the output it provides can definitely cool one person down while he/she is lying down inside a tent. We stored our first fan with its blades attached to it. The weight of the batteries contributed to the breakage of the blades. Because I like to carry light for camping, I had to buy another one due to its "cant be beat" output for a small battery operated fan. Because we now store the fan with its blades detached from its base, the blades held together the past three camping trips. This year were going camping with our toddler who still takes naps. This fan will definitely cool her down during her nap.

Broke after 2 days     On: 2007-06-27

Be warned... The weight caused by the batteries in the base is extensive. When it worked, it was so great that my girlfriend pointed out we needed a second one. The weight of the batteries in the fan portion deformed the little plastic flanges that hold it to the backing, and two of the four broke within 48 hours. The fan will not hang now, and can only be held or set on a table edge. Poorly designed, given the weight of the fan mechanism and the batteries...

Great little fan....good for smaller dome tents     On: 2007-03-11

This fan is great for a 2-4 person dome tent. I used it camping on a HOT weekend and it helped to circulate the air. The batteries lasted the whole weekend, with the fan being on continuously over night. This impressed me.
This little fan packs a punch     On: 2006-08-04

When my fans arrived I wasnt sure about them. But when I put batteries in...WOW! For camping in a tent it is perfect, we bought two of them. One fan for each side of the tent. I think this fan is a great buy.
Save your money!     On: 2006-07-21

I was thinking how bad can it be? Well, its bad. You might as well buy those little hand held attached to a string you can put around your neck at Wal-Mart. Another reviewer suggested that it might be OK for one person. NAHH! Its OK for one person if you put it about 12" from your face. I would not buy this product if I were you.

Does Its Job And Stays Out Of The Way
by: kendallfon    On: 2005-12-10

When tent camping alone, this little fan works wonders. It doesnt crank out a lot of air, but it does get things flowing pretty good considering how small it is. It beats lugging around a portable standup fan and having to fight with it all night. This fan stays tucked neatly out of the way on the dome of my tent.

I wouldnt suggest using it if you have more than one person in your tent with you, especially if you AND your guest get hot fairly easily. If you are alone, however, this little fan can keep you relatively comfortable all night.

Its a campers dream for a little relief, but it isnt much help if youre camping in an area that stays rather hot in the evening.
