 Coleman Tent Kit By: Coleman Average Rating: 4.5 Total Reviews: 19 More Information USEFUL KIT...  On: 2008-08-11This is a nice little kit to have handy when youre planning a camping trip. The only thing I would change about it would be that the bag was a little less flimsy, and also larger to be able to hold extra stakes. Great product! Tent kit On: 2008-07-17The little wisk broom came in very handy for the tent. The mallet was also very useful for getting the stakes in easily. Happy with purchase. Ive used it on every camping trip since Ive gotten it. The dust pan combo is a bit cheap, but what do you expect. Add up the costs for each piece, and youre definitely getting your moneys worth...all together in a mesh bag. P.S. Keep the duster set in the plastic bag it came in, so the bristles wont push through the mesh, and the plastic nubbies on the stakes, for the same reason. Not Bad, Not Great  On: 2008-05-27Lets face it - when camping, there are two categories of gear: necessities and other stuff that may be helpful. This package from Coleman, consisting of (1) a small broom and dustpan, (2) four aluminum stakes, (3) a rubber-headed mallet and (4) a stake remover, definitely falls in the second category. (1) Broom and dustpan -- small, plastic and green, this just might get the most use out of anything in the package. Not much to say here -- it does its job. Save the plastic wrapper this comes in, because its hard to get the broom back into the mesh bag without it. (2) Four aluminum stakes -- these are actually pretty good. The stakes are much longer and sturdier than the ones that came with my tent. They are essentially giant nails with a green plastic head attached for the line to tie onto. I would worry about cracking the heads if they got too cold. (3) Rubber-headed mallet -- much more substantial than you might think. good heft to this and it will do its job and any others that might call for a similar tool. A bit heavy, if anything. (4) Stake remover -- Cheap, bends out of shape. All of this comes packed in a little mesh bag. The bag is not really big enough for all of this stuff, nor is it really sturdy enough to put up with any amount of abuse, and the stakes punch right through the bottom. Bottom line -- you can camp a thousand times without having this set and you would never miss it, but its always nice to have extra stakes and a way to clean your tent floor. For the price, its not a bad set to have. Handy Set On: 2008-05-25This set is pretty good. The stakes are nice and sturdy, the hammer isnt bad, the stake puller works for my tent stakes, and the broom/pan do what they are supposed to. I dont regret my purchase. CHEAP BUT WOW WHAT A DEAL!!! Everything works perfect an have its utility. The brush could be bigger but besides that is an execellnet tool. Good hammer and stakes, but . . . . . . .  On: 2007-10-19The rubber mallet and stakes are good. They both worked more than adequately even in the rocky ground where first used. Remainder of the items are really not worth the price. Broom/pan are really small and cheap plastic. Stake puller may be OK in softer ground, but easily bent the first time it was used pulling stakes. Should say, though, that stakes were driven in pretty rocky ground and rather hard to pull, so puller may work OK in softer ground. Overall, item is probably overpriced for what you get. Coleman tent kit On: 2007-10-17This product was as described and I found it very useful and well worth product cheep  On: 2007-10-13Nice kit but we needed more spikes and the plastic tops to the spikes broke while I was trying to remove them from the ground. The claw to help remove them did not work well. This is a must-have for camping with small children! On: 2007-10-04Wish we would have had this during our last camping trip! Once the kids got over the excitement of a big, brand new tent and running back & forth inside to outside ... boy did we have a dirt mess. I am really looking forward to using this (oh, and the rubber mallet would have been nice too)! Came in handy.... On: 2007-09-30This little kit came in handy. Especially when we saw how flimsy the gear for the tent was. Mallet was nice to have as well. Pretty good buy! Worthy product by: Anonymous On: 2007-07-27 I am an owner of one of this tent kit, and I think that is very useful set, the prize is perfect, so if you love to go to camping, you must have one of this tent kits, trust me, worth the money and ever more than the prize that you pay!!!! Nice little kit On: 2007-06-10Handy little kit to have for camping. The stakes are quite nice and really saved us when our cheap stakes couldnt hold down the tent. The tent puller also is a time saver. My only complaint is that the bag is simply too small. I couldnt get the brush/pan out without tearing up the small bag. Otherwise it is a handy addition. Ive camped many times and have had to use tent stakes that would bend easily. These are solid. Dont know if its steel or not but it feels like it. The hammer is of good weight and does the job. The sweeper and dust pan I view as extra throw-ins but who doesnt need them a day of going in and out of the tent? If this were pieced out, it would have cost more than what I paid. Handy to have!! On: 2006-07-10This is really handy to have on hand when camping! The extra stakes are a nice plus, and actually nicer than the ones that came with our tent. And the mallet and clean-up items are great, because you dont have to think of packing the items seperately, just grab the pack and go. Excellent time saver! |
