On: 2010-07-18This is a very, very good low cost pepper sprayer! My wife and I own several of them. I do a lot of walking, running and biking as does my she. This is small enough to be held in the hand or, using a small clip device, worn on the belt when I bike. They can be worked with one hand and all it takes is a flick of the thumb. Note: This is easy, but like anything, you really should practice a bit every now and then. We also keep one in several handy locations in the home; when shopping my wife always carries one with her. We even have one stashed in each of our cars. These little sprayers actually work quite well. The recommended effective distance is from 8 to 10 feet, which is just about right and they do work at this distance, and they are good for about 20 to25 shots. I have actually had to use one of mine recently. I was walking a back road going in front of a trailer place that normally has four or five dogs chained in various locations around it. One of the large pit bulls broke his chain and came at me. I have been around dogs and worked with dogs all my life and trust me...this dog meant business! One shot of the spray stopped him in his tracks. Being a fanatical dog lover I hated to do it, but in that particular situation I had no choice. I was extremely please that this device worked so well, and was extremely glad I had it with me. Like any pepper sprayer, of any brand, you need to test them every so often...hey, things break. I have yet to test one of these devices that did not work as it should. Also, a person needs to keep in mind that these sprayers do not make them bullet proof or turn them into superman or woman. You need to mix caution and common sense with their use, and indeed with your activities. These are inexpensive, reliable, easy to carry and easy to use. I could not ask for more. Don Blankenship The Ozarks Simple yet effective On: 2009-10-30I attached a climbing clip to the keyring part of it and I can attach it to my keys, my belt loop, or anywhere else. It is not large and bulky like some of the more expensive ones, but it is not so small that you can hardly get your fingers on it. Great for college students and for taking on walks/runs at night. |
