Spring in Texas is lovely--beautiful wildflowers, great camping. BUT its also stormy. In March, I started looking on Amazon for a battery powered radio for emergency use. For $50, this product offered AM/FM, two light sources, a built-in battery charger, a siren, and mini TV. However, when it arrived I felt sheepish; it seemed a bit "overdone." I bought batteries and stuck it in the closet, wondering if Id ever even use the darn thing. And Then: Less than a month later, the storms started coming. April 9th brought the worst; tornados ripped through my neighborhood, limbs from 100+ year old trees smashed into my car, power lines broke by the dozens--and we had NO electricity for four full days. THANK GOD I had this little gem. It was invaluable during the whole ordeal, a source of precious information as well as light--and even tiny, B&W CSI episodes. The ONLY complaint I have is that the TV facet isnt HD, so on 2-9-09, that particular function goes nil; it would have been nice to know that before buying. Otherwise, this baby was my best friend during a very "dark" time! Could have been great This should have been a great purchase at a good price. Everything works as advertised, good picture on TV, good lights, good radio... But there is no way to LIGHT an area and LISTEN or WATCH at the same time! You can listen in the dark, you can see in the silence, but dont try to both at the same time. If that fits your scenario, then this is the product for you. Its not my idea of safety or emergency preparedness. Bernie The product was delivered on time. The product works just fine, but there is something ratteling around inside that makes me nervous. Maybe a screw or something. Nice Product A recent stom left us in the dark for 4 days I missed the comfort of television, so on seeing the price for this I took a risk and bought it. so far ive only hooked it up to its power cord (it requires 9 c batteries i wish i knew how long they would power the t.v) The siren about scared me to death, so that works fine! I was pleasantly surprised with the reception quality visual and audio. It was pretty easy to tune and use. So come the next power outage I will have the comfort of television! Very Happy, Cheaper than the Coleman I am not sure what the other guy is talking about, I looked for the less expensive Coleman style TV lantern, but could not find it. The Coleman product is at least $69.99, more expensive than this Innovage item. So, I took the plunge and ordered this lantern. The product is well made and very easy to understand. The TV gets surprisingly good reception, at least better than I thought. Overall, I really like this TV lantern and Coleman could not beat this price, for seemingly the same product. Buy The Coleman Version Coleman makes a similar product with better quality and for less money. Model No. 841.337 |
