![]() Jeep LED Power Lantern with Remote Control By: Jeep Average Rating: 1.5 Total Reviews: 5 More Information Cheap!!!!! I bought this lantern so when when our lights when out I would have something that was safe. Our lights went out last night and guess what, a couple of the batteries leaked and ruined the battery holder. I called United Marketing Group who sent it to me and they couldnt help me to see if I could order a replacement battery holder. Never got to use it. I bought two of them and now I will not keep the batteries in the other lantern until I need to use it. Very cheaply made. Very disappointed in this product. First time that I have ever got a product from Amazon that was not of good quality. Didn't work on arrival This is my first review, but this product was so god awful for so many reasons I had to make it known. Firstly, let me say that this was given to me as a Christmas gift from an older family member who didnt know better, only knew that I liked camping. My assumption is that this was purchased through QVC or found somewhere very cheap in bulk. So I didnt expect much right off the bat.... but I DID expect cheap, but functional. I couldnt wait to crack into the user manual to find out how many LEDs this took, how many lumens it offered, how long it would last on a full charge, what kinds of batteries it took, and how many. It made no mention of any of this! I had to open the unit to discover that it needed not one, not two, not three, but FOUR D cell batteries. Woo hoo, this has GOT to be one mega-powerful lantern! Either that, or its got to have a lifeline of several days before the batteries need changed. So I eagerly put my batteries in, screwed the bottom back on, and then found that the on/off button didnt work. Sometimes it would stick inside, sometimes not, but it didnt work. Brightness control? Turn it to the right, it snapped back to the middle! Turn it to the left, same thing... snaps back to the middle! The picture on amazon shows a picture of the brightness control turned all the way up, and Id love to know how anyone got it to stick in that position? Mine snaps back to the middle. My friends and I fooled around with it for awhile and couldnt figure it. The remote control was the next thing I tried (its very flimsy, btw.) That didnt work either. Tried changing the batteries around and that didnt matter. We also noted that some of the rubber wrapped around the top of the lantern was coming off, which doesnt hurt its functionality, but huts its aesthetic design. This, my friends, is the sign of a cheap product design. I came on here to see what others were saying, and also to see the price. You would think this was some cheap knock off found on the net for $9.99 but this is going for over $35???? What an amazing ripoff! Ive got lanterns twice this size for that amount from name brands. Those reviewers who got it to work claimed that the lighting was terribly low, and that the remote wouldnt shut it off if you used the lantern to turn it on. How depressing for something that uses LED light and a whopping four huge D cell batteries. I would expect so much more. I rate this one star, the lowest rating possible. If I could give it a zero, I would. Lantern didnt work, and even if it did the manual provided no helpful information as to how many LEDs, how many batteries, what kinds of batteries, duration of battery life, specs on the LED lumens, nada, zip, zilch. Jeep LED Power Lantern with Remote Control Im happy with this item. I use it as a night light by my computer. The remote works great as long as you turn it on and off using the remote. If you turn it on manually the remote wont turn it off and you have to turn it off manually. ---Betty Low price, but even lower quality This lantern is a waste of money. The bulbs, individually, are very bright, but the lantern as a unit is weak. The remote is extremely flimsy and does not turn the unit on or off as it should; quite frankly, it is a waste of time as well as money!! Look for another product with some sturdiness to it and forget about this one. Low price, but even lower quality This lantern is a waste of money. Dim would be a much more accurate description. The lantern is better than a flashlight but barely lit a 50 square foot area. It would be serviceable during a power outage to find your way around your home. However, if you were sitting more than 5-6 feet from the lantern it is unlikely that you would be able to read a book. It also did not arrive with the remote control in the box. More of a dim light This Jeep LED lantern casts anything but a "brilliant" light. Dim would be a much more accurate description.
