![]() Emerson Battery Free Wind Up Radio with Headphones By: Emerson Average Rating: 2.0 Total Reviews: 4 More Information weather band radio I bought two of these radios. One channel selector did not work and neither pulled in a weather band station. I was disappointed and promptly returned both radios. A Terrible Buy I couldnt wait to get it in the mail for Christmas because I was leaving only a couple hours after it arrived. I took it out of the box and wound it up just to see if it worked. It didnt. I wound that crack radio for at least five minutes (three more than you need to get it to work). I turned it on and nothing. I then tried to crank it again and the crank broke off. Not because I was cranking too hard, it just broke off. Finally I put batteries in the back and it worked somewhat. I wasnt happy at all and I went with another radio for Christmas and returned the Emerson Battery Free Wind Up Radio with Headphones. It WILL work, COUNT ON IT!! I must admit, I had my doubt about a radio that works with batteries or power, but sure enough, I just cranked it a few times, and it started right up. The reception on this radio is better that my electric powered stereo system. I love the peace of mind that it WILL work in case of an emergency. I returned mine I had looked at all of the available wind up radios, on Amazon and other sites. I really liked the smaller size of this one and felt it was perfect for me. When it arrived, I liked the feel of it and the size. But it didnt work. I followed the instructions to the letter, and it never played. The instructions say that if you wind it for 60 seconds, you can expect 10-15 minutes of play time. I wound for 60 seconds and got nothing. Then 120 seconds. Then 180 seconds. I never heard a chirp. I tried AM, FM, and Weather; I tried adjusting the volume; I re-read the instructions (several times). I could clearly see that it was charging (at least the Charging LED would light up as I cranked), but the only time I heard a sound was when I listened to the headphones while winding. Then I heard an electronic hum (of me winding, I guess). Disappointing. Amazon gave me an RMA, and its on its way back. I ordered the Grundig FR200 today, instead. |
