It seems that everytime the battery is charged, it remains charged for a shorter period of time. Eventually you will have to crank nonstop because the battery will hold no charge at all. That is my experience. My wife loves it I bought this for my wife, who keeps one by her bed in case of power outage, which is a regular occurence where we live. The only downside is that the battery does not hold a charge. It seems that even after charging it fully, if I pick it up the next day, it is dead. Fortunately, two turns of the handle will charge a dead battery enough to start giving light immediately. Great Lights but......... These are great lights but the price listed is too high. You can get the same product at Costco for $19.99 if they have them in. At that price, they go fast. Just what I'd hoped it would be When I first saw a similar product on a shop-at-home show, I was intrigued. We went through a period of frequent power outages, and our emergency lighting solutions werent great. I really liked the fact that this would be ready to go without worrying about fresh batteries--that would be a great safety item for both the home and car. Of course, if it seems too good to be true... I figured the catch would be that, while winding for one minute sounds easy enough on TV, in real life it would be too much of a pain. Wrong! If anything, Im overwinding (which Ill have to stop now that Im reading reviews saying that overwinding might not be good for the battery). The only thing thats hard about winding it is that the fold-out winding handle doesnt lock into the open position, so it wants to collapse/fold as youre winding. You have to find a position to hold it so youre putting pressure down on it as you turn. Other than that, the only thing I dont like is the flash mode: first because you have to cycle through it every time you try to turn it off, and second because its just not practical. It would make sense if the white beam stayed on while the side/red lights flashed. That would be a safety feature to make you more visible while you were using the light to change a tire or walk the dog at night, etc. But as it is the white light also flashes, so its completely useless as a flashlight in that mode. Not a huge deal, though. Overall its what Id hoped it would be, and it puts out a respectable amount of light. Great item Got these for a Christmas present. I am going to go out and buy another set for the car and for our emergency packs. I agree with the other reviewer! These are great!!! Better than the ones that you shake and then turn on--much easier! :) the best flashlight ever this is the best flashlight ever! all you have to do is crank the handle a couple of times and you have instant light! i tested it out to make sure it didnt run on batteries by leaving it on until it was completely dead then i cranked it a few times and it instantly had bright reliable light when i tured it on! and the emergency flasher mode is great too you can even use the emergency flasher as a strobe light for partys. it comes in a two pack and it is only $20.00 at costco! and best of all it nrrds no batteries or bulbs replaced! super bright LED bulbs. this is the last flashlight you will ever need! a must have for emergency kits. overall five stars! |
