Well, what can I say?! I did extensive research to choose just the right bag for me, and finally decided on the Dakine Station Bag in Herringbone color.
The bag doesnt hold its shape- its a bit floppy, HOWEVER it is made of the UTMOST sturdy canvas! Its even more sturdy than I thought it would be, and I personally love that it doesnt completely hold its shape. Its exactly what I was looking for, and I am not disappointed in any way, at all.
Not only is the bag made of sturdy canvas, the strap is even more powerful. Its a "washed" leather look, and its definitely very strong.
The flap is secured to the bottom of the bag by a black clip, and underneath the flap, you find a zippered compartment and two pockets secured with a metal clamp button. Also, four places to hold pencils or pens, or maybe even paintbrushes. Also, an open pocket behind those utensil holders.
On the side of the messenger, there is an open pocket, and on the opposite side, another pocket with a metal clamp button.
One thing to note; the main compartment is open, however the bag is made in such a way that I believe that most items would not fall out. Just the way the sides close in and how the strap is positioned and made.
Overall, I could not be happier with this bag. Im 20, and I plan on purchasing a laptop sleeve( husband buying me a laptop :D) and using the messenger to carry it, as well as my video games and nintendo ds, prismacolor pencils 120 kit, a few art related items here and there, and a hoodie or jacket. Its perfect!

i really like this bag, ive had it for more than a year and i use it for school, its real strong and solid so it can hold the heaviest of books, the only thing is that the strap is uncomfortable. but it looks cool. and to most people, style comes first, comfort second, as you can see by all those girls wearing those damn high heels everywhere. i get alot of compliments, and i use it as my purse sometimes, im really into messenger bags, and i like big purses as well. people who carry around messenger bags all the time seem cool to me, i dont know. thats just my opinion.

I love this bag! It can hold everything I need for class, including my laptop! The distressed look is really cool, and it lessens the frustration Id usually have when new things get worn in. The bag was already a little faded, so I didnt feel like I had to be extra-careful with it or anything.

This is a great looking bag and very durable. Strong and good looking, like me!! It gets a lot of great compliments!! If youre into messenger bags, you will definately want to give this one a second look!

The bag looked fine in the pictures; it appeared to be structured, attractive and sturdy. I ordered the pinstriped version of it. When it arrived and I saw it in my hands, I was somewhat disappointed but remained optimistic that it would be a good bag for this semester. Its not turning out to be that way. My optimism has faded away over the last few weeks that Ive had to use the bag. Its distressed strap is not only uncomfortable but it sheds little pieces of itself on everything it encounters (especially making a mess out of my jacket). The bags compartments arent very structured at all. It doesnt maintain shape and objects shift around. Its just a very sloppy bag. If I had the luxury of time and a looser budget, I wouldve returned this after the first day of having to use it and just wouldve gone to an actual store to buy a different bag instead.
I feel like Im stuck with it. I dont recommend this bag at all.
