Sometimes I want a firm feel and sometimes less firm. This gets 5 stars for ease of changing the inflation. Just turn on your side and rotate the inflate knob of the automatic, built in pump. Within seconds, with you on it, the desired firmness is attained. From box to full inflation required less than a minute. No problems at all with leaking after 2 weeks of nightly use. The reason I have not given this a 5 star is the "moguls" (little peaks/valleys) on the surface. That is not a problem for me though as I have a 4 year old, 3 inch thick memory foam topper over it (cost of topper : $80 ppd). Beneath it is a standard box spring cushioned by a 1 inch thick memory foam topper between airbed and the boxspring. Airbed has exceeded my expectations and I doubt I will ever buy a standard mattress again. I have sampled memory foam mattresses in stores and the feel of this is comparable--though again, without the topper, it would not be so comfortable. The old adage "you get what you pay for" has proven inaccurate....Its worth more and comes with a 1 year guarantee.

I bought this product at Target because of the Eddie Bauer name, but go to the Eddie Bauer website and you will not find any air mattreses. Im not sure if it is a closeout or some agreement with Target but Eddie Bauer isnt selling it. This product would be very nice if it werent for a defect in the built in air pump. The mattress material is sturdy and it feels quite good while it works. A hint of what is going to happen appears in the manual that comes with it. It tells you to carefully line up the switch to the off position once the mattress is full. I used this mattress continuously for a month and found that switch leaked a little more each night...no matter how well you lined it up. After a month this slow leak had progressed to the point that I would wake up in the morning with only my head still supported by air. It might last longer if used only occasionally for a small child, but there has to be something better out there.
