The match head on a firestarter is a wonderful idea in principle but the execution doesnt always quite work out as planned. When the match head flares, it doesnt always actually light the firestarter before it simply fizzles out. That said, the firestarter stick itself is absolutely wonderful and burns plenty long enough, large enough and hot enough to start any well prepared tinder pile in even inclement weather.
Dont forget the caution - just be sure youre prepared to start the firestick with your own waterproof matches or lighter because that match head is not waterproof and it certainly isnt fail safe.
