![]() Stanley Outdoor 20oz. Food Jar By: Stanley Average Rating: 4.0 Total Reviews: 4 More Information Nice looking product, okay performance I wanted a food jar that looks decent because I work in a professional office where I only have a half hour to eat and everyone goes to lunch in shifts & they race to the limited microwaves. I am pleased by the appearance of the jar, but I was a bit disappointed that the food was just warm. Based on the reviews here, I thought it may perform better than it did. I preheated the jar metal around 7 am and had lunch around noon. The soup was not hot, just warm. I also had purchased a Mr. Lunch bento set and so I tried the jar again today and put the food jar into the Mr. Lunch metal shell. I made sure that the food was piping hot out of the microwave. The timing was about the same and I was happier with the temp...it was not piping hot, but sufficiently warm. I think the main problem is that a lot of heat comes off the top. The spork and extra container space are nice features, but I think a heavier duty top would be better to have instead. The other day, I also bought the Stanley Bolt jar and did a comparison water test with a thermometer...it was still hotter on its own than this jar in the Mr. Bento shell. That jar does not have the extra compartment and has two layers of protection for the top. Just too bad that jar is not as nice looking to me...too masculine for my taste (although the handle can be convenient) So, not sure which I will use regularly yet...Ill probably try bringing food in the Stanley Bolt to see how much hotter that food is. I guess Id rather have warmer food than be too vain! great for car-camping I bought this to use when I go car camping. Instead of boiling a whole pot of water to make pasta for myself at night, I just put the pasta in the jar and then cover it with water (about an inch over the top of the pasta). Then I warm up the sauce while the pasta sits cooking in the jar(about 20 minutes). Drain any excess water from the jar, dump the sauce over the pasta in the jar and youre done. I then pre-heat the same jar the pasta came from, add the slow-cooking irish steel cut oats to the same jar, add water per directions and let it sit overnight for an easy breakfast. I like that there is a folding spork in the lid - beats digging around in your camping gear in the dark looking for one. I would have given it a 5-star if it was easier to open. They make all these things round and it can be hard to grip them to open them when the lid is on tight. great for car-camping I bought this to use when I go car camping. This really does keep food piping hot until lunch time... so hot that I still need to let it cool some before eating. Especially if you enjoy outdoor recreation, you owe it to yourself to own one! Great Item Besides the fact that the first thermos they sent me was defective, my reordered one was a great buy. this food jar is ultra-durable and REALLY unbreakable. unlike my last one (which I dropped and its insides shattered), this thermos is steel plated, which makes it dent and shatter resistant. recommended! |
