![]() Eureka Juno 3 XTA 7.5-Foot by 6.5-Foot Three-Person Rectangular Dome Tent (Amazon Exclusive) By: Eureka Average Rating: 4.5 Total Reviews: 21 More Information Great for the price I bought this at a great sale price and Im very happy with the product. It only has two aluminum poles and it goes up very fast. The fly keeps it dry when it rains. There is enough room for two twin matresses side by side but not much more. I expect it would fit a queen mattress well with room on the side or base for luggage. Very lightweight! The fly design is fantastic for keeping items outside the tent sheltered from incliment weather. Dont forget a ground cloth or tarp though. This doesnt come with one. Only problem I had was the stitching in one pocket that holds the pole came loose hence the pole slid through and back out. I jury-rigged it on the site, and restitched it when I came home. Aside from that, its a very good product!! Eureka Juno Review The Eureka Juno tent is easy to setup, especially for one person because of the unique sleeve and protected pole ends. The tent is roomy and has good interior height, is fairly light-weight and has a good footprint with 2 vestibules. Both my son and I have used the tent on separate occasions and have found it very useful. We both would consider this for backpacking. The only thing I wish I could get for it would be a custom footprint to protect the bottom. Good Tent We just bought this tent for a backpacking trip because it was light, and had enough room for two people and gear inside. It worked great on our trip. I was worried that I wouldnt like the colors, but they grew on me right away. Our only grip was that the first night it rained quite a bit, and the water drips in through the zippers. I didnt mind too much, but my wife wasnt too thrilled with it. It was only a little bit or water (probably less than 1/2 cup per side). We just wiped it up with our microfiber towel. Im still very happy with this tent for the price I paid. I just wish I could have got it when it was on sale for $80. Great Tent Fantastic tent for backpacking. Fairly lightweight. Quick set-up, plenty of room, especially with the vestibules. I recently spent three nights above 10,000ft and it was warm inside, but had absolutely zero condensation, a first for me. Fantastic ventilation. Stable in moderate winds with additional lines staked out. I wish I had purchased the gear loft, as the storage pockets seem to hang right in your face if you are taller than about 6. All in all, a great tent and a great price. Although another comment said that UM fans would like this tent, it is definitely not maize and blue. The mustard/gold fly is much more subdued. warm weather only Good light weight tent for backpacking. I like the two doors. But I was expecting a tent that was good for all seasons. My error. Good for summer but not advised for the winter months. Excellent tent ... but watch out for bees! This is a great tent. It is very light weight and pretty spacious for a 2-3 person tent. Sets up very quickly. Sturdy. Folds up into a very compact size. The large mesh windows are awesome if you want to wake up to a lovely view in the morning. Great ventilation. No bugs can get through the mesh, not even tiny gnats. The fly extension over the mesh doors is a nice touch for sheltering from the elements. My friends are more experienced campers and even they considered it a "serious tent". If you can get this for around 60% off retail, this is really good bang for the buck. I would give it 5-stars for the quality, except for one caveat -- the peach-amber color attracts bees! I think youre okay as long as you are diligent about keeping the mesh doors zipped closed as often as possible. If youre not camping in an area where extra-strength bug repellent is a must year-round, you should be okay. When I camped in this tent, one or two bees would come scout the tent every 2 to 3 days. They would end up getting stuck in the space between the fly and the tent body. You can just shoo them off. But this tent may not be a smart choice for those severely allergic to bee stings. Nor for those who simply find the overhead buzzing unnerving. Maybe spritzing the tent with a bit of bug repellent will help ... though you should probably make sure this doesnt deteriorate the tent material. another nice tent from eureka this is the second tent i have owned from eureka the first, although i still have, just aquired a hole in the bottom and it was time for a new one. so i went to eureka online did the research and found this tent through amazon. this is the same tent eureka markets under a different name all the specs. are the same just different color. it was a little difficult at first to set up but only once. after that it was a breeze. anyone looking for a nice tent for two people will be very happy with the room . i didnt have any water issues inside, and it did rain, all in all top quality tent from eureka. GREAT FOR A TALL PERSON This is just the right size for someone 66" or shorter. I am 64" tall and used the tent with a little room to spare. My wife an I used an inflatable Queen air matress in this and the Queen mattress fits perfectly inside. I didnt feel the swampiness that you get with other tents that have poor ventilation. The ventilation was great and the bugs never got in. The vestibules provide ample room on the sides for keeping gear dry from rain. The setup was very easy and the aluminum poles were way better than the flimsy fiberglass ones. They are smooth all the way down the pole, instead of that metal connector on fiberglass that prevents you from sliding the tent loops down the poles. I recommend getting a 10 x 14 heavy duty tarp to put underneath to protect the floor (and air mattress) if you can find one. We have a 10 x 10 one that works great for the tent, but doesnt provide enough space under the vestibules. Only improvement would be placing the bags to keep your things dry higher up on the tent, near the top instead of right by your head. Awesome tent This is a great tent especially for the money. It is the exact same tent as the Eureka Pennacle Pass 3XTA only a diffrent color and offered at a better price.Eureka Performance Pinnacle Pass 3XTA 7.5- by 6.5-Foot Three-Person Backpacking Tent Excellent tent for backpacking; and holds up well in the rain! I got this tent when it was on sale for $80 through Amazon, and now having used it, Id say its worth the current $150 price. Unusual for an advertised three person tent, it will hold three persons. If you have three large adults with three large backpacks, its going to be cramped, but bareable. Its very fast to set up and break down - seven or eight minutes with the fly. In good weather without the fly you get excellent ventilation. AND if it rains you are OK. Last night my ten year old and I were on a baseball field with a bunch of scouts, and got hit with a 45 minute downpour. It saturated the field and some people packed up and left. Despite no groundsheet and the fly not being staked out, we were bone dry. I would rate this an excellent packpacking tent for two or three people. Eureka Juno Tent Seems nice. I havent used it yet altough next week should be the first time. Good value for a 3 season tent this size by a reliable company. Great Tent updated 7-11-07 I purchased this tent because I am getting into backpacking. The tent advertised 3 person and at 5lbs that caught my interest. Also I purchased it when it was $89 so the price was right. When I got the tent the box was small and light. I first got to use it in my backyard, it is quick and easy to setup. The night I used it it rained pretty good. We did not get wet and there was no condensation in the tent either. Im very happy with this since I live in the NW. I had also read the reviews here before I bought it and agree with the gentlemen who posted the caution about unzipping the rainfly after raining. If you are not really carefull water will fall into the vestible area and even possibly the tent. The tent is roomy and I belive I can fit myself and 3 kids in the tent pretty well. I plan to use the tent on a hike soon and will update my review then. Like: Inexpensive compared to other light tents. Seams factory sealed Light Quick setup 2 Large vestibles Holds up to rain well. Drys quickly Dislike: Rainfly doors unzip in a way that allow water on the outside to fall in quite easily. Update 7-11-07 I used this tent on a 4.5 mile backpacking overnite trip and the tent was awesome. Weight was good and setup was a breeze, very quick to setup or take down. No issues we had great weather, no condensation in the tent. Very nice, if I need to purchase another tent I would get this one again for the price. I have just finished using this tent for the first time and I thought it a great purchase. I was able to take advantage of a special price through Amazon ($89) and I certainly believe it is worth that! The tent was up in less than 5 minutes without the rain fly. This is thanks to the ball at the end of each aluminum pole. This ball goes in to a nylon sleeve pocket and the other ends go in to the familiar "key" post. Another couple of minutes for the rain fly and youre done. I really enjoyed the extra space the rain fly creates by the vestibule areas when staked out. There is one at the front and back. My one complaint is that the tent is a little snug if you are 6 2" or larger. Either your feet or your head will be pressing against the side of the tent. Although Eureka states that the rain fly will only go on one way...that is not quite true. Logically it only goes on one way, but if you get it exactly backwards, you will be left with a mesh breezeway during the night. This could be good during those late spring nights when its not quite warm enough to not have the "fly" on...or bad if you get a late storm that happens to come in at that angle. I would also recommend upgrading the tent stakes as they would be useless on hard ground. I believe that this is the exact same tent as the Pinnacle Pass XTA. Overall though, a great tent if you can get if for less than $100. Great Value I have used this tent on two backpacking treks this spring. It is easy to setup and is very roomy for two adults. While it may not be an ultra-light, split between two peoole, the weight is not a problem. My one grip is the vestibule doirs. If you are not careful when you unzip them, they "fall" back towards the tent spilling an rain or dew they have collected on you and your gear. So far, so good We are primarily travel trailer campers but we needed a small tent for when one parent takes a child or 2 to scout (tent) camping trips. I bought this one on a whim. I cant imagine paying full suggested retail price for it, mainly because we dont tent camp that much. I was amazed at how easy it was to put together. We did a trial run in the living room and 4 of the children rolled around in there with no damage. I loved the openess of the tent before the canopy is put on. It made me think how nice it would be to lay under the stars in the tent and get the full view of the sky, minus the mosquito bites. My husband took this tent to a scout camping in the outfield event at the baseball field with hundreds of other families. He said he was VERY glad to have such a light weight tent that was easy to set up. Some of the other campers really struggled with their heavy gear. Fantastic tent for 2 ppl Fantastic for 2 ppl, much spare space for putting your backpacks or other stuffs next to you. Fast building, ligh weight and cheap at Amazon!!! great size, weight We had been looking for a light-weight backpacking tent with enough room for two. That seems simple enough, unless youve actually been inside of some of the "two-person" tents. Some of the expedition tents meet the size requirements, but are too heavy to be considered backpacking tents. We have just used this tent for the first time, and we are so far pleased. Plenty of room inside for two adults with large sleeping mats and sleeping bags, and a bit of gear. A large vesitibule on each side provides plenty of room for packs. I believe this will be a great warm-weather tent, with all of the mesh. The night we used it, it dropped below freezing. We woke to a ceiling (rainfly) covered in ice (on the inside). Didnt really expect that, with all of the ventilation, but as it was ice, it didnt drip on us. Ill chalk this experience up to extreme conditions until we use it in warmer weather. One thing that I dont like, although thus far it has not been an issue, is a seam running through the middle of the floor. It has been taped and sealed at the factory, but I just dont like the looks of it. I will seal it again before spring use, and edit this report, as we are sure to end up in a downpour here in south Texas. The tent is in fact lightweight and roomy, and so far, I am pleased. I will amend this report after having enountered weather with it. Passed initial test Just got back from our first trip with this tent, and it performed admirably. Set up was quick and easy, as was take down. We had high winds and rain, but the tent felt solid and not a single drop of moisture collected or leaked inside. Overall, a great product for the price we paid (bought it on sale). The 5 of 5 rating indicates that the tent is as described and performs all the functions it claims. Was very roomy for two, and lightweight for its size (though it might be a tad heavy for extended backpacking treks - still, light enough to hike with for a few miles). Recommended Heavier than listed Havent had a chance to use it but I am considering returning it. The actual weight is heavier than what they list, the actual weight is 6.5 lb. the weather started getting rough..... This really is a great tent. Three people can sleep in it, but Ive found it best for 2 people because then theres still room for all of your stuff (or a dog. lol). Ive used it for 3 years, and it never disappoints. Ive been in one good thunderstorm in it, and it did great and didnt leak at all. Its very easy to set up, (especially when you arrive at your site after dark). It vents really well, but best if you face the vented side into the wind. Just dont forget to open out the little cross vent (with the "!") on the other side. The inside pockets are really handy, and I think you can get a "net" that you can hang from above for more storage. Why I love this tent? First, I need to share that I am an avid backpacker. Though fatherhood has taken away many opportunities from legit overnight trips, I still try to get to the mountains on a regular basis. Second, I need to share that I work at Amazon and am biased towards this product. I was involved in working with Eureka on the tents design and functionality. We designed a tent that was lightweight yet enough room for 3 people. There is also a ton of ventilation with 2 doors for easy access--both of which can open from top or bottom (again more ventilation). I am using the tent personally with 2 adults and a small child. Its plenty large, and certainly reasonable for 3 adults. I love the vestibule where I can store our packs if its raining--or even use the area to boil water if theres an intense rain. I must admit that I have not personally used this tent in the rain, but Eureka builds high quality tents that are seam sealed to prevent leakage. Also, we wanted a tent where the stitching from the tub floor wasnt near the ground--to prevent any water from seeping in via the floor. Lastly, I like the color. Unique but crisp and attractive. I think most people will like it, particularly University of Michigan fans. Hope you enjoy the tents as much as I do. (If its not obvious--the price of the tent is supposed to be incredibly aggressive to introduce backpackers to Eurekas high quality performance). |
