I love the mule This hydration pack is perfect for my mountain biking needs. I fits a shock and tire pump, spare tube, extra chains and pins, my food and an good multi tool. It has perfect size not to big not to small. It has many pocket too. I would recommend this to a friend. CamelBak MULE The picture does not do it justice, it is a well made versatile item with many uses. Has plenty of storage room and yet is compact and does not get in the way. Lots of water can be a bad thing I took this bag to Burning Man, and it definitely functioned quite well. Enough space for a flashlight, face mask, some protein bars, cigarettes, ashtray, etc. The inner pockets in the smallest pocket were especially nice. Theres tons of places to attach carabiners. It fits comfortably, even while full. The only reasons why I didnt rank it a 5 is because when the reservoir is full the largest pocket is mostly useless, and because I got a rash from the straps. Granted, I was in the desert with very dry skin but that didnt happen last year with a cheap-o backpack from Wal-mart. Excellent choice for a full size hydration pack I bought the M.U.L.E. for our teenage son. He uses it while riding a dirt bike. There are ample storage pockets to carry snacks, etc. You can even carry your iPod in a specially designed compartment. The straps are padded and fully adjustable to meet our needs. CamelBak quality is evident and worth the small difference in price. We have owned cheaper versions in the past, and the CamelBak is by far the way to go. $60 on Amazon and free shipping - Go for it! Nice replacement for old one ! This was to replace original one bought about 5-6 years ago. It stood up to lots of abuse over the years of hiking and scrambling. Hopefully the new one lives up to that std too ! So far so good ! A really good system I ordered this from Amazon back in the spring. Ive used it day hiking and on a week long trip back packing to the Gila Wilderness in New Mexico. When carrying the back pack, I placed the entire thing in my back pack and routed the hose where I could drink from it. When day hiking from a camp I used the Camel Back to carry lunch as well as water. There is also room for a small camera and other odds and ends. Its really well made. The drinking tube doesnt leak. Its comfortable to wear. I really detest a water bottle or fanny pack bouncing against me. Theres none of that with the Camel Back. We got caught in a late snow fall and cold weather snap. The drinking tube froze up but thats not the fault of the pack of course. Just means you may need to stuff the drinking tube inside the pack and if its cold enough it will freeze anyway. This is the first one Ive had and I found it really good for staying hydrated in the dry thin air. With this sytem you can take frequest small drinks rather than occasional large drinks from a bottle in the back pack. One of the members of our group is an avid back packer and he remarked that he was going to get one after seeing a couple of us using them. Great Hydration Pack Great pack carrys more than enough water for a good days hiking. Also has a place for your iphone/ipod. good zipper pickets to keep you keys a flashlight and eye protection safe. Has good control straps to keep it from flopping all over your back and making you sore. good stuff Even this was not for me; I could seen it in use.. a cousing got it and he is more than happy with it.. Diego Female hiker/mtn. biker loves it! I have had my Camelbak mule for about 8 years now. Yes, its an older model but with the same features and smililar appearance. It has lasted a long time and I have used it for mtn. biking and hiking. It holds what I need.. snacks, camera, phone, small jacket, sun block, hats, etc. I am in my early 30s and find that with small kids I now need a slightly larger one to hold lunches and other provisions while hiking with them. This mule is labeled for a man but this is what I have found. I can adjust the chest strap up above the chest and tighten or loosen as I see fit to fit a womans chest, the waist belt has velcro attachment so I can remove it completely and it still stays snug and tight with the other straps. I am 56" and I have not noticed it being too long for me. The 100 ounces is never too much and doesnt weigh too much. I often finish my water on hikes and bike rides. If you arent going far and dont drink much water you can just fill it half way. I always find that its better to have too much than not enough! And with 3 and 4 year old boys I have purchased the mini-mule Camelbak for each of them and they love it! What awesome products. We did a family hike that took 5 1/2 hours and we all had our camelbaks on. I think it truly helped us make it together. Great Pack, no complaints Ive been using this pack at least once every weekend since I bought it (have used it at least 25 times). It is compact enough to not get in the way when Im scrambling through brush. It has enough internal storage to keep 8 protein bars, sun glasses, camera, phone, keys, compass, knife, bandages, sun hat, wallet, guide book, and a full 100oz water bladder. And I wouldnt say it is "full", if I had more I wanted I could take it along. It has straps on the outside, which I use to hold my large shell (in Seattle, you cannot predict the rain or the temperature). It is strong enough that Ive dropped it plenty of times onto rocks, pulled it through bushes / trees, and dont see any signs of wear & tear yet. Great pack, exactly what I was looking for, Ive taken 8 hour hikes with it without a problem, and without wishing for anything more. Camelbak It is very good and high quality. I am very impressed with the bladder and its quality. This is a great CamelBak for mounain biking I use this camelbak for biking and it does its job great. It holds a lot of water and has plenty of storage capacity for other stuff. The back ventilation allows you to stay cool on hot days. Even full of water it is easy to carry and does not bother you much. I would recommend getting an insulator for the tube. It gets hot very quickly and your first sips are not going to be pleasant. Awesome!!!! This thing was awesome. I just came back from Bonnaroo in Tennessee and it worked great. Probably had to fill it up twice a day but that is because it was so hot out I was drinking tons of water. There is plenty of room for storing things as well. At one point I had 2 t-shirts, a rain jacket, my phone, wallet, and camera all tucked away plus water in the hydration pack. Highly recommend this to anybody going hiking or planning on being outside for a long time. Great quality, and comfortable I just received this from Amazon yesterday. It is smaller than the stock photo makes it look, which is great for mountain biking and trail running. The waist and chest straps make for an adjustably secure fit. The build quality is top notch. This is my first Camelbak and I must say that I am impressed. Every backpack Ive owned for the last 15 years has been Jansport (which usually lasts 4 or 5 years of hard abuse), and I was not let down when I cracked open the box. Zippers are nice and tight, straps ride comfortably on the shoulders, and the pads on the back are very welcome. I immediately took it out on the trail (just a hike), which lasted about 2 1/2 hours...with the bladder full of water, I could hardly tell this thing was there. I really only have two relatively minor gripes about the MULE. The first is that with the bladder full, you lose a lot of cargo space. I carry a first aid kit roughly the size of a 300 page paperback novel whenever I hike...It was quite snug in the main compartment. I wasnt overly thrilled with that prospect, but its hardly a deal breaker. Secondly, more a warning than a gripe, beware of kinks in the hose. Its trickle city. I might have to coil the hose rather than let it hang willy nilly in the bladder compartment. All in all, a great product that I am happy with. Camelbak review exactly what i wanted, i has the perfect amount of room for stuff youd want to bring for a day trip in the outdoors. the hydration system works well and seems to be very high quality, no leaks and it keep the water cold for hours. only complaint is that the water in the tube gets warm but thats pretty unavoidable no matter what. great pack and well worth the price Impressed already I opened the box and was instanly inpressed by the craftsmanship of the bag... this is my first. I bought it beacasue I needed to have some water with me while i ride my dirt bike on trials and somewhere to carry light equipment (camera, cell, mp3 player, tools etc). I havnt tested it out yet but from the looks of it I made the right purchase. The bag itself is light and just the right size to fit on your back comfortably. it has alot of compartments for whatever you need. Fancy but rugged enough to take the stress. All the straps are adjustable easily for your preference. Mountain Biker's safety net After being in the military...I will recommend a Camel Back for any outdoor enthusiast! The M.U.L.E., with its 3 Liter (100 oz.) bladder and all the storage space saved the day for me this morning. I was riding to work when I got a flat tire...luckily I packed a spare tube and all the tools I needed to fix it quickly and get back on my way. A definite must!!! Works like a Charm Got this to use while I snowboard. Works great. Occasionally the tube freezes but only when it is very cold, so that is understandable. Very strong, no leaks, doesnt burst even if you land flat on your back. Great sturdy strong product! Great Condition The product arrived in perfect condition and was exactly what I was looking for. It ended up being a great ski gift. Excelente calidad a buen precio. Excelente eleccion, ya lo use y pienso q es un producto de buena calidad y a buen precio. Mini MULE - Good choice The Mini MULE is the perfect size for my kids. We hike and geocache frequently and the Mini MULE carries enough water for a couple of hours and has space for snacks and swag. I bought these as Christmas presents and weve used them five times over the holidays break to hike, bike and geocache. They love having their water and snacks at hand instead of waiting for me to remove my pack and distribute. If you plan on short hikes and outdoor outings, this is the perfect size. I have four kids six to eleven and they really like the Mini MULE. Camelbak is a great product. I have two other ones adult sized I use for mountain biking. I recommend paying the little extra for the Camelbak. They last and dont leak. This is my third MULE This is my third MULE and I think its the best one of the batch. At first, I wasnt sure I liked the way the zippered pockets were laid out, since they were different than what I was used to. Normally you dont start out on a tour with new equipment, but I took off across Florida last weekend and found it much better than my old MULE in almost all respects. I dont think its as easy to put the bladder in, but that might be because I havent done it enough times. It must be better insulated than the old ones, because I found myself running out of water about 45 miles into the ride. When I checked the bladder, all of the water was gone, but about half the ice hadnt melted. In the old MULE, the ice would have turned to water by that point. The water resistant MP3 player pocket is a nice touch for either a player (used with an external speaker, not earbuds) or a cell phone. Well worth the money. Ill be ready for MULE IV in two or three years. Great!!! by: Anonymous On: 2007-10-19 My third Camelback and Im still finding the best quality in all of them . Enough for a short bike trip with the exactly room for your stuff, Digital Camera, Granola bars, pocket Knife, a light rain coat and 3 Lt of water Can I need to say more? The straps make their job, also you can adjust the chest straps not only the lenght also up and down. And you can remove the hip straps. In the top it has a special soft compartment for your Ipod with special zipper .... Im very happy with it Name Brand Is Where Its At - Camelbak! OK, you could get a $20 Hydration Pack from Wal-Mart but why? I picked up my Camelbak M.U.L.E for $60 ($25 cheaper than MSRP). Chalk one up for Amazon! The M.U.L.E is a great all around pack the holds 3 liters of water. You may think that 3 liters of water is too much, it will add extra weight, etc. Good news is you dont have to fill it up all the way all the time! I have used the pack for mountain biking, 4 wheeling and hiking so far and see endless possibilities. The pack is very customizable between the straps, clips and pockets. Pockets are very generous in size but do not add much extra size and weight to the pack. It looks big in the picture but is not that bad. The pictures show the pack totally stuffed with supplies but if you are just using it for water, spare bike tube, a multitool and a hat, it sits very flat on the back. The water reservoir is very tough and is warrantied for life. Please dont go generic! Trust Camelbak. GREAT!!!! This camelbak has helped me during many a hot marching band day. My friends love to carry their water bottles in the pouches. I wouldnt change a thing about my backpack. Thanks. Useful hydration system, but could be better Ive owned quite few hydration systems over the years. Recently, I purchased this Camelbak M.U.L.E. hydration pack from Amazon and started using it. Compared to my old hydration systems (original Camelbak and Blackburn), this one is light years ahead. The original Camelbak systems had a fairly small opening which made it very difficult to put larger ice cubes into the reservoir not to mention cleaning the inside. Additionally, the closure caps for the reservoir were held in place with friction. The current systems have openings large enough for me to put my fist through which makes filling the reservoir with ice cubes and cleaning the systems very easy. Additionally, the reservoir cap now screws on securely, so its unlikely to pop open even if you land on your back after flipping over the handlebars. The M.U.L.E. is well constructed of heavy duty fabric. The multiple compartments are definitely useful for carrying gear in addition to your car keys. Theres even a pocked at the top for your music player with a hole to thread your headphones through. My biggest complaint is that the reservoir is located in the back panel through a side zip pocket. This makes it a hassle to fill the reservoir because you have to almost remove it or risk pouring water accidentally into the compartment. On the other Camelbak systems (Lobo, Hydrobak, etc), the reservoir fill cap is located on the front of the pack and easily accessible without removing the reservoir. Overall, this product is well constructed and useful. My complaint is really just a minor one because with 3 liters of fluid, its unlikely youll need to access the reservoir too often on any single day hike or bike expedition. Don't know how I lived without it My brother is a hard core mountain biker... and I am not, so I didnt think I would need a device like this. But he convinced me to get one. I am glad he did. Very convenient for any activity where you need your hands free and dont have easy access to water. A GOOD STUFF TO HAVE IN YOUR BACK I feel happy with my purchase, I have everything I need when I am biking and dont feel anything on my back. A GOOD STUFF TO HAVE IN YOUR BACK I feel happy with my purchase, I have everything I need when I am biking and dont feel anything on my back. Great Price, Great Pack! Bought this pack as a gift, and I want to keep it for myself! Its much more convenient to have the weight of water evenly distributed, and its so easy to use. Not as much cargo space as we would have liked, but that just means well be buying another one! Everything I need and more in portable hydration. This is yet another great product by CamelBak. The 100oz bladder gives me plenty of water to stay outdoors and active for most of the day, and there is enough room in the pouches to toss in a small book, some energy bars, sunscreen, cell phone, et cetera, as well as a dedicated pouch for an MP3 player with a padded and water resistant outlet for headphones. Basically, this pack is large enough to fit plenty in for a day trip outdoors, but small enough to not be cumbersome or annoying to lug around. This pack is also extremely comfortable to wear. The shoulder straps are padded, adjustable, and ergonomically designed, narrowing at the base of the neck then curving out wider around the chest and ending at the base of the pack where it connects to a wide mesh support that wraps around your hips. The back is also padded and meshed, with grooves to allow airflow so that your back does not sweat as much while wearing it. There are also several straps on the pack (some of which are removable, in case they get on your nerves) that make it possible to stream-line the storage areas if you are not carrying much with you. Overall, this is a great product, and a valuable asset for anyone who enjoys being actve outdoors. |
