20+ years and still going strong     On: 2008-10-27

Purchased in 1985 at an Army surplus store in Colorado, these boots have been through EVERYTHING. As one of the original Burton snowboard riders (yes wood) these were also used for 6 seasons of snowboarding. I find them warm, comfortable, and bulletproof. Im just NOW starting to see rust in the lacing straps, and yes I still use them almost daily from November to March. I figure another 5 years and they will be ready to retire.

I hope R. Smiths story is not indicative of current quality but I dont think so...probably just a fluke. Ive tried friends pairs recently and the quality is still built in.
great boots!     On: 2008-01-28

My brother in law told me about these boots as we head up to snowy Modoc County California quite often. On his recommendation I purchased a pair for my husband. He loves them! Very comfortable, rugged, and keep your feet warm and dry. Not clunky feeling at all. Easy on and off. They also look great too. I would recommend these boots to anyone who wants to get around in the snow.
Great Boots     On: 2008-01-26

I bought these boots for my older son last Christmas and was having a hard time finding them for my younger son this year. They both love them! Not only did Amazon have the boots, but they had a better price than anyone else.
Sorel doesn't get any better for a New Englander former Canadian     On: 2008-01-21

I needed new winter boots for my sons. They love the outdoors and can spend hours outside. "Mine dont fit, can I use your boots?" says one of my sons. I reply, "Sure, but if I need to shovel, Ive gotta have them back." Do you think I see them?

I took the afternoon off from work and brought them to a great online retailers brand store. Looked through all the available stock and one son turns to me and says "I want what you have....", "uuhhhmmmm, I guess thats ok but theyre kind of expensive, but definitely worth it.

So I search online and where do I end up? My favorite shopping portal, Amazon with pretty awesome prices.

This is a great product, I dont know much about the variations but simply put, this model of Sorel is comfortable, nice height, warm and very reasonably priced . So, Im happy, my boys are happy and my wife is especially happy.

Not happy     On: 2008-01-11

After 1-1/2 winters, mine are falling apart. The left sole is split from the upper and each boot has numerous small cracks in the rubber where my foot flexes. Not good for a $100 boot. They ARE very warm when my feet arent wet.

HORRID CHOICE FOR EVENING WEAR     On: 2008-01-03

At a formal black tie dinner recently I had the ghastly fortune to wear these with my tux - embarrassed, I died a thousand deaths. I have never had to suffer so many "polite" coughs in all of my life. And the grandmotherly woman who kept patting my arm all the while her eyes dripping with pity - how could I tell her, tell anyone for that matter, what chain of circumstances brought me to that low estate?

Great Boot     On: 2008-01-02

Just received these boots - breaking them in right now not that it will take much. They are a great snow boot - warm, totally water proof and give the feel of being able to trech through the slop in Foxboro after a long tailgate. I give them an A.

PS - boots shipped from Norway Sports out of Sand City, CA - and came with a 20% off code on their website - " THANKU "
Greatest boot I have ever owned     On: 2007-12-31

I grew up in Buffalo, NY I have been thru lots of winter boots. I have destroyed, lost and abused many winter boots. Im 60 years old now and still live to play in the snow. I do not ski. I purchased my Sorel boots in January 2000. We went to the winter fest in Ottawa Canada. The temp was 10F most days. We walked all around Ottawa for 5 days, my feet stayed warm and dry. Last winter I went to Montreal. I got there in the middle of the worst snow storm to hit in 34 years. I walked all around "Old City Montreal" for 3 days. Again my feet stayed warm and dry, At nite the temp went down to 15F. I coat the boots twice with "Neets Foot Oil" at the start of every winter. Water has never gotten into my feet. I gave a pair of Sorel boots to 3 other people. They also love them. They are The best winter boots I have ever owned.

Only need to buy them once!     On: 2007-12-21

This boot is a one-time purchase. Once you have these, you will never need to purchase anything else, they last forever! The construction is durable, comfortable, and sized slightly large (to accomodate for warm socks!). They are very sturdy boots, that lace up high. We live in Upstate NY, and the winters here are brutal...these boots have been perfect for shoveling out in the snow. They are quick to put on, and keep your feet nice and warm. After purchasing several other pairs of boots prior, Sorel is a brand that will last. Definitely take the chance and try them out!
good boots     On: 2007-12-15

I have a pair of North Face pack boots that I purchased last year and they werent very breathable so I decided to get the trusted Sorels and I couldnt be more pleased. They are even better than the pair I had in high school. if you need cold weather boots with good traction get these!
Great boot, Great price     On: 2007-12-14

These boots are comfortable, easy to lace-up and tie, warm, and tall enough to keep the snow out. You wont be disappointed.
Probably your best choice for a warm basic snow boot     On: 2007-10-10

These 10" high winter boots set the standard for basic cold weather boots in snowy conditions. Theyre probably the boot most commonly worn by locals in snowy Western mountain towns.

But be advised they do not have a lot of lateral stability in the sole of the boot. That is to say, the rubber bottoms tend to twist sideways making them, in my opinion, unsuitable for anything other around town use and possibly some work situations. The twisting motion makes traveling off beaten paths, especially climbing hills or side hilling, more difficult and tiring. My seven year old (Canadian made) Sorel Caribou models have somewhat thicker and probably more water resistant leather uppers, but the current (Chinese made) Sorels seem to have more advanced combination synthetic and wool felt liners and apparently much-needed additional underfoot insulation.

These boots have a cool look with the faux shearling collars but their relatively modest height means you will need to wear gaiters to keep out snow if you leave beaten paths. Felt lined pacs are typically the warmest boots for the bucks and the liners can be taken out to dry. Ive washed my Sorel liners on gentle cycle using wool-friendly soap with excellent results and spraying some Armorall (used to perk up rubber and plastic in cars) on the rubber bottoms keeps them looking great as well.

Recommended to anyone who wants a warm, foolproof, traditional looking boot to wear in around-town or to cold weather outdoor events, keep in the car for emergencies and possibly wear to work or riding snow machines in really cold weather.
Great Snow Boot     On: 2007-02-26

The Sorel Caribou continues to be the winter boot that all others are compared to. Comfortable, functional, warm and it keeps your feet dry. Good traction and it keeps the snow out if you step in the deep stuff. This is a top quality product.
