It said the stainless steel was 440, so I figured the blades and utensils must be prity thin at such a reasonable price. The thickness of the steel is over a 1/16 of an inch which was a very nice surprize and is garantied for life. The knives were not that sharp to start, but sharpen up razor sharp quite easyly.
