More Information

coffee thermos     On: 2008-11-30

I have bought many travel cups but this is the best so far. Even when half full hours later the coffee is still hot and taste fresh. I can finally stop looking as I believe there is none better. The flip top is the best. Opens and closes with one hand and does not leak.
Accessories and additional info     On: 2008-11-26

After reading many useful previous reviews, Ive decided to purchase one. Ive been looking for a SS water bottle that does not produce condensation when holds cold drink, that is leak-proof, easy to clean and accepts regular size ice cubes. This bottle can also hold hot coffee as many previews have talked about. This product fits my needs and seems pretty well constructed.
Just two extra info that I dug out on my own research.
(1) This product is listed ONLY on the Canadian Thermos Nissan official website where you can find detailed specs (http://www.thermosbrand.ca/ContentPage.aspx?name=Canadian_Thermos_Products_JMW350&Topic=).
(2) It fits perfectly with the shoulder sling made for 27 oz. Klean Kanteen, sold at $5.5 from Amazon.
Im still looking for an accessory that allows this bottle to attach to a carabiner.
Great product!     On: 2008-11-25

I wanted a compact, leak-proof, thermos that doubled as a cup and could be carried every day in my briefcase. This is it. Light, compact, thin-walled, stainless steel, vaccuum welded into the bottle in a high vaccuum chamber, guaranteed for life, incredible insulating properties (keeps coffee so hot, youll burn yourself three hours later)and carries a full 16 ounces. You can unscrew the somewhat gizmoid-looking, but beautifully designed, top and sit the Thermos on your desk as a cup. Thanks Thermos-Nissan! Oh, the price is right, too!
Where has this been all my life?     On: 2008-11-23

OMG OMG OMG, the BEST damn thermos out there. I put coffee in at 7:00AM and sip it all morning. Every time i flip the cap, steam escapes! This thermos definitely delivers. I am a college student and this thermos is perfect for travel, no leaks at all.
Better than sliced bread     On: 2008-11-17

A great product that actually meets its specs. I use it everyday. Forget about those travel mugs. They couldnt keep ice cold in a blizzard. But, this bad boy will keep hot or cold drinks - hot or cold - for 6+ hours. And for the price? Super value, baby!
AMAZING!     On: 2008-11-13

I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this thing!

Leak-proof and holds 12-14 oz. I have been trying to find something sleek that holds enough that you dont get thirsty because whatever youre drinking finishes too soon.

I like that the outside does not condense and stays room temperature while the inside stuff stays super cold/hot.

I LOVE the drink spout and the fact you can open/close this with one hand.

Very sexy and comes in different colors. I want another and am waiting for a better sale.
Impressive     On: 2008-11-12

This is one impressive thermos and very convenient. I also love its sleek design. The sipping mechanism is a little tricky to wash, but we just throw it in warm soapy water for a while if it contained something other than water.

Pros:
1. Its capability to keep the liquid cold or hot is amazing. Even with ice in it, it is truly condensation free on the outside. And the ice remains the whole day in hot California summer.

2. Easy-to-open lid: you just push the button, and it pops right up. You can also lock it to prevent it from opening up accidentally. One time, I had the bottle on the side pocket of my backpack with the latch facing toward me. While I was bending down to put on my shoes, I accidentally hit the latch with my elbow. I did not even realize it until the juice poured out. It was just my fault. Now, I always put the bottle facing out. :)

3. Well-thought-out and cool design, durable

Cons:
(These are very minor points. I just notice things, I just wanted to help others understand what is going on when these things happen.)

1. Sometimes, a little bit of liquid stays on the sipping area and fails to retreat back into the hole. This it worse when you close the lid with the bottle still tilted toward you. And the result is that there is some liquid left in the sipping area. And if you shake the bottle around too much, the leftover liquid can drip out (tiny bit). Though, this is not leakage. Also, if the bottle (especially the top) is not dry, some water can drip out of the gap. Again, this is not the liquid leaking. It is water left in the top. This will happen with any bottles if the outer cap is not completely dry.

2. Sometimes the lid rises a little but fails to pop out. I dont know what the issue is here. This happens with water, not something sticky. It seems to be the combination of latch being pressed too lightly and the rubber sticking to the hole.

3. For me, the lid opens up too strong. So I just stop it with my finger.

4. When you drink it, the lid is right in between your eyes. It annoys it sometimes.

This is an excellent product, and I love it. I would recommend it to anyone. Above cons are just small issues which might help you to use it better and more safely.
Five Stars     On: 2008-11-08

Ive had this thermos for a little less than month now and I wonder how I ever lived without it. The models I owned before this one do not stand a chance. I can fill it up with steaming hot chai at eight in the morning before I take off to work and by the time I get home, at seven thirty, I can still see steam rising from my left over tea. Amazing. I can say the same about cold drinks too--its like I got it straight from the fridge even at twelve hours later. Its durable, does not leak, holds just the right amount of liquid. The design includes a lot of functionality so that its "drink-friendly". I would recommend this thermos to anyone who feels dissatisfied with their current model and to anyone who has been looking for a thermos that does the job its supposed to for an unprecedented amount of time . And honestly, with this price, you cannot go wrong.
Satisfied...     On: 2008-11-07

Overall, this product does what it promises.
Two suggestions to the maker. 1)Please produce a bottle more attractive to female. This is too masculine. 2) Make the top part easier to clean.
Otherwise, I am very satisfied with the product.
Wonderful Thermos!     On: 2008-11-05

We purchased this for our recent travel to asia with our 11month-old. We used this to hold hot water for our babys formula. This thermos fit in the side pocket of diaper bag perfectly.

As far as thermos go, I think this is the best Ive used thus far. The release button is a great touch and the lock made it secure and still functional with a flip with your finger.

Perfect for traveling.
Must have item     On: 2008-11-04

Excellent item. Very convenient and durable.
I have a following recommendation which I found in manufacturers description: if you need your for coffee or tea stay HOT for a long time - prewarm it - fill it with boiling water for 15 min. If you plan to use it just while commuting, put your beverage right away, thus it will be hot and possible to drink, too.
Keeps My Coffee Hot and Doesn't Leak!     On: 2008-11-02

I used to bring my coffee to work in a regular travel mug, which meant I had to carry the mug by hand out to the car in the morning, then across the parking lot and into the office. At the end of the day, Id repeat the process in reverse with an empty mug. I couldnt put the mug in my briefcase because even empty, some coffee residue would still leak out. Not the end of the world, but an annoyance I would rather do without.

Along comes the Thermos Backpack Bottle. I fill it with coffee at home, seal it up, and throw in my briefcase. When Im done with the coffee, I seal it back up and put it back in my briefcase. Ive been using it for two weeks, and havent spilled a drop of coffee in my briefcase yet.

The 16 oz. capacity is enough to get me through the day, and the coffee remains hot and fresh. I havent tested their claims about how long the coffee remains hot, because it doesnt last too long when Im around.

I almost gave this a four star review, because the top is a little difficult to clean. Then I realized the tops design is a necessary evil to keep the beverage hot (or cold) and prevent anything from leaking out. I couldnt really fault Thermos for that.

The product is made in Malaysia, if anyone cares.
Backpack thermos is superb     On: 2008-10-30

If I put 6 ice cubes in this thermos and fill it with a cold beverage before I start a round of golf on a hot North Carolina summer day and if I refill it during the round only with cold water, some of the ice cubes will still be present after playing 18 holes. It is easy to drink from and doesnt leak. It also keeps beverages hot for hours. It is the best thermos I have ever had, and it fits in the pocket of my small carry golfbag and in all golf cart beverage holder cups.
simply amazing     On: 2008-10-24

I received this thermos as a gift a year ago and have been enjoying it immensely since then. Its a must-have for the commuter and keeps my coffee steaming hot every day on my mile + bike ride to and from school even on the most frigid of days (Ive had many days starting at -20 without a problem). The only minus is that its so well-insulated that I cant use it to warm my hands with it.. well I guess thats not the purpose of this bottle. By some fluke accident this morning I dropped it hard on a concrete floor and broke the plastic clasp that holds the lid shut. Even now its still usable as the metal ring holds it firmly shut but Im now contemplating buying another one (as well as epoxying this one back together). The things built like a rock and this is nowhere near the first time Ive dropped it. The clasp is well protected all around too- so i know that this failure was not the fault of any engineering or design, just my bad luck. I highly recommend!
Thermos - slim and leakproof     On: 2008-10-23

Very good Thermos - slim and leakproof. Fits car cup holder, very light so I can carry in my bag with coffeee from home. Easy to clean.
Surpassed all expectations     On: 2008-10-14

This is my new favorite thing. If you preheat it before pouring in your coffee, it will keep it hot from morning until late afternoon -- its just unbelievable. So easy to drink from, and latches securely. Holds the perfect amount.

In the category of too much of a good thing, this cup actually keeps liquid a little too hot sometimes unless you leave the lid off for a while. Twice I have poured in boiling water for tea, capped it, and then found the tea too hot to drink even after 30 minutes or so. Best to let the water cool for a while before making tea or instant coffee in this bottle unless you enjoy the feeling of a burned tongue.

This is going to be my holiday gift to all the coffee lovers and commuters in my family. I have thrown away all my other travel mugs.
Not the best to drink from     On: 2008-10-12

I know Im going against the grain here, but Im a bit disappointed by this thermos. Ive been using this product over the last 6 months for my long commute by car to work each morning. Overall, Im pleased with the quality of the insulation, and general ease of cleaning is on par with other bottles. But here are my complaints:

1) The long slender form factor is not ideal for most automotive cupholders, including my own (Honda Civic). It doesnt fit snugly and rattles when the car negotiates bumps and bends on the road.

2) More irritating, Ive had to make adjustments in the way I sip hot coffee from this bottle. There is a roughly pencil-sized hole that separates the coffee in the main chamber from the white drinking spout which is, in my opinion, too small. When tilting the bottle to drink, the coffee sometimes gets hung up on the chamber side of the hole, then suddenly surges into the spout and burns my lips. In short, its a little hard to control.

Ive since overcome the shortcomings of this bottle, but prefer other, simpler travel mugs for the reasons above.
Impressed     On: 2008-10-09

When I first used this, it leaked; then I discovered that Id unseated the gasket when I cleaned it. With a minor adjustment, no leaks. It also REALLY keeps your drinks HOT. I dont like my beverages too hot, and at first I was dumping my tea and coffee right into the bottle. On a few occasions, it stayed too hot for me to drink even after 6 hours or so sitting in my office. Get the temperature right before you put it in the bottle.
Best SS beverage bottle     On: 2008-10-08

Finally a stainless steel beverage bottle that is 100% leakproof, needs only one hand to operate it, and fits in a cars drink holder. Not to mention that it is excellent at its original function: keeping drinks hot or cold. And it looks great too! Ive purchased three so far: two for me and one as a gift. Im not planning on stopping there!
Great Value!     On: 2008-10-06

Had to purchase a new thermos because my dad "borrowed" my older one and I havent seen it since! Keeps my drinks hot for hours. Ive never had it leak, even after its been dropped several times. I love this thermos, tried going without it for a few weeks, ended up buying a replacement. Well worth the money!
Nissan stainless     On: 2008-10-05

I love this product! I had another one for about 4 years (until the dishwasher melted the lid- i wouldnt recommend putting the lid in the dishwasher) and I recently purchased another one. It keeps my coffee hot for several hours, and warm all day. Well worth the $$.
Latch needs work     On: 2008-09-16

While this bottle is awesome in terms of keeping the beverage hot or cold, one flaw is that the plastic yellow latch is easily broken. I have two of these bottles and the plastic piece has broken on both of them.

You can still securely close the lid by using the steel loop, so the bottle is still functional.
Perfect travel mug     On: 2008-09-01

I purchased this Thermos because I was looking for something that would keep my coffee warm for a good length of time, and wouldnt leak when tossed around. The mug has overdelivered on both counts. I just wanted my coffee to still be warm after my commute (90 minutes). I find that my coffee is still HOT even after lunch. In fact, it insulates almost too well in that the coffee doesnt cool enough to drink for a very long time. But I just leave the cap off for about ten minutes after I pour the coffee and that seems to balance out the temperature. I have also carried this in backpacks, messenger bags, and briefcases, rarely right-side up. And I have never spilled a drop of coffee. I highly recommend this product.
this is what i have been looking for long time     On: 2008-08-29

No leaking, keeping hot , light and compact.
I have reviewd more detail in my blog.

Best Daily Thermos     On: 2008-08-22

I purchased several of these handy thermoses:
* Durable stainless steel body
* Plastic cap with push-button "click" spring design and removable interior silicone (replaceable caps through Thermos/Nissan)
* Leakage is occasional, but this usually happens with over-filling the thermos
* Body is easy to clean, but cap has hard-to-reach corners and small (open) compartments that make cleaning a challenge. Fluid can seep into the interior silicone cover, but the silicone can be removed like a glove (none of this resembles the nightmare encountered with OXO thermos users who cant reach into the closed compartment)
* Holds two small cups of fluid and keeps them cold or hot for 12 hours (caution - you can burn mouth from the great heat retention)

My only wish is a larger 22-ounce backpack thermos. However, this is great for carrying your own beverage without wasting paper cups or drinking contaminated fluids that may have germs. In the winter, I actually had to mix cold water with boiled water to keep the temperature comfortably hot without burning my mouth. In the summer, I fill the thermos with a cold beverage.
This is the best thermos ever     On: 2008-08-16

I use this thermos every day. It never spills, is easy open and close, is smart looking and just a pleasure to have. Highly recommend it.
Great for long trips and commuting     On: 2008-08-08

Keeps coffee hot all day. Would buy again even though I now have four.
Extremely well made     On: 2008-07-28

The thermos works extremely well. Too many other "insulated" bottles allow heat to escape (or enter) in a fairly short time, this bottle kept the contents cold in high heat for 10 hours. It is also easy to use and the lid is well-designed to avoid leaks and spills. Highly Recommended.
Thirsty for a thermos     On: 2008-07-25

I bought this thermos to replace the plastic water bottles I bring to the gym. I bought it because it received excellent reviews. Although I am overall satisfied with the product, I do have one complaint - you cannot "chug" from this thermos as others have claimed. During a strenous workout, I want cold water and I want it fast. This product releases the beverage rather slowly - thereby making it great for hot beverages.

The product seals tight and has a locking ring. It is great for throwing in your gym bag and not having to worry about it leaking. It keeps my water ice cold, even after 4 hours.
Awesome thermos for home and day travel...     On: 2008-07-25

This Thermos stands above others. I made my tea in the morning and later in the afternoon it was still hot. Its awesome!!!
excellent thermos flask     On: 2008-07-24

Ive used Thermos-Nissan insulated mugs and bottles for years. This one is innovative because of its unique flip-top dispenser top---makes getting a sip of ice cold water a snap. (Literally). I was also pleased that among other Nissan products, this one seems to have quite excellent insulative properties. I cant comment upon hot substances, since mine is relegated to cold water, mostly. Recommended! The slender size makes it easy to carry and to hold in one hand. The capacity, I wish, were a little greater, but I knew what I was getting.
Best Thermos Ever     On: 2008-07-24

This is not the first thermos ive used, but it is the best. Its design is great, fits into most car cup holders. It also allows for one handed operation. Best of all, this thermos delivers on what it promises, it is leak-proof, perfect for being bounced around in a backpack, and it keeps your hot drinks hot, cold drinks cold. But do follow the directions, and dont over fill.
Leakproof if used right, keeps liquids cold well     On: 2008-07-17

As long as you do not fill it beyond the sealing ring it is leakproof.

It keeps liquids cold well, better than other thermos choices I have tried.

Its diameter is small enough to fit in most if not all cupholders.

I like the one hand operation for opening and closing it although after you have taken a drink if you are not careful the flip action will throw droplets.

It is easy to open it one handed without this happening though by moderating the spring action by the way you hold it when triggering it open.

When open, it fits my mouth well for direct drinking.

Its mostly metal construction would appear to make it pretty impervious to incidental damage from minor dropping, etc.

I like it.
A family favorite, and interestingly, like drinking from a fountain     On: 2008-07-07

So the fundamentals first: the bottle is attractive, with a brownish red glossy exterior. Its easy to drink from for kids and adults alike, which I had not expected of a Thermos bottle for some reason. We used it extensively on a trip and its easy to drink from, while a car is in rush hour traffic, while walking, while on a bumpy tractor pulled cart. Drinking from it is interesting in a good way - the water comes out maybe a centimeter above the edge of the thermos. The net effect is that the water has a nice texture as it flows into your mouth. Similar to when one drinks water from a fountain, but without the water getting all over the place. A good solid purchase!
Amazing product---you will not believe how good it is!     On: 2008-07-05

I needed a thermos that was compact enough not to add too much weight and bulk to my bookbag, and that would NOT leak all over my papers while it was in there. This thermos works like a charm! It carries the equivalent of a Starbucks tall cup of coffee plus a little more, and never ever leaks. Its easy to flip open and drink from, because it has a push-button opening instead of a screw cap.

I did not expect it to insulate all that well. But boy, was I wrong! In fact, I do NOT recommend preheating the thermos with hot water before filling it with coffee---the thermos retains heat so well that your coffee will still be piping hot four hours after you fill it even if you dont preheat it. (The one time I preheated the bottle, it was so hot four hours later that I actually burned myself).

In a world of products that overpromise and underdeliver, the Nissan thermos is something wonderful: a product that quietly and modestly performs so well that it knocks the socks off of any of its competitors.
okay, this is the real deal     On: 2008-06-30

I have been looking for years for this bottle. It is truly leak proof, truly convenient, in that you can drink from it without unscrewing the cap and pouring it into a cup. Good size, though I wish they were still making the 350 ml one (Im always looking for ways to shave ounces from my pack - biking is my only mode of transport). Retains heat as well as the best, absolutely. I find myself having to cool down my coffee before putting it in, because if its too hot to sip when it goes in, you wont be able to drink it comfortably for hours. Buy this - you wont regret it. Oh, and I had read that the lid blocks your field of vision: not a problem, really.
Thank you thermos     On: 2008-06-23

Okay I was expecting quality merchandise because of previous reviews and the fact that it was a thermos but this is ridiculous. When they say your beverage will stay warm they arent kidding. I put my hot, hot (hotter than I would normally be able to drink it) tea in the thermos at 7:00 am and went to work. At 9:00 I took a sip and almost took the top of my mouth off. I left the lip open to cool it a bit and at 10:00 took another sip. Wow was that hot. I then took the top completely off and left it open. (I know, why didnt I put it in the cup. We are not allowed open cups near our computers. Leaving the lip off was pushing it enough and besides because of the thermos size I wanted it for a travel mug). I figured with no top on it, it has to cool off. Well it didnt. By 3:00 it was manageable but still hotter than I would like. By the time I got home at 6:00 it was the right temp and thats with the lid off most of the day. I also want to say I drink tea with milk in it and other thermos type containers usually make the milk in the tea taste funny after a while. This did not (if youre a tea drinker you know what I mean). So what I recommend to anyone out there using this thermos. Put your beverage in at the temperature you want. Its not going to cool off on you. Believe me.
A Good Companion for the Morning Commute     On: 2008-06-23

This is a great thermos: easy to open and close, but wont open by accident in your bag. Keeps drinks cold for many hours. My only minor complaint is that there is no max fill line on the inside. If you fill it above that level, some liquid squeezes around the seal and can leak out.
Nissan Thermos     On: 2008-06-21

This thermos keeps my coffee warm all day and doesnt leak! The only problem I have with it is that the lid is hard to clean well because of the way it is built. The area under the lid is almost impossible to get to, even with a brush and you cant put it in the dishwasher. Otherwise, it would get 5 stars but I can only give it 4 because of this.

Not commuter-friendly design     On: 2008-06-18

Forgive me for being blunt, but this mug is in no way friendly to drinking your joe on a commute to work. In fact, I cant see it being useful as a "backpack" bottle, unless youre carrying a shot of something really fancy, because it just doesnt hold much of anything. But I digress.

The lid on this thing is ridiculous. It is a hinged pop-top, like what youd find on a breadmaker, and its nearly 2 inches thick. Im a small girl, and I can hardly fit my face into the tiny, deeply recessed drinking trough; my nose bumps against the dang top contraption. If youre sitting on a bus, you have to open and close this thing every time you want a sip, which means flipping the little metal lock off, pushing the button, and spronging the top open. When the top is open, the whole cap of the thing is 5.5 inches across. If you were driving in your car and wanted to sip your coffee, youd have to pull over, because you cannot see around the breadmaker top. Funny too, it boasts the canister is shaped to fit the average vehicles cup-holder, but they neglected to mention that it likely would not (or would probably tip itself over) with the top open. Talk about top-heavy.

I would not have bought this mug had there been photos of it with the top open. Ill post some of my own.

-disgruntled.

This one hand thermos is great....     On: 2008-06-16

Sometimes you only have one hand to maneuver...enter this new design thermos that you can acturally operate with one hand...It keep liquids hot and cold depending on the time of year...Its also very handy on the golf course. If the top holds up, Thermos will have a winner for many years to come...
One of the better hot drink thermoses money can buy     On: 2008-06-09

Slightly larger than a soda can. Will fit in most standard cupholders. A little tall, thus topheavy and may wobble a bit in those same cupholders. Keeps hot drinks hot for a surprisingly long time. Great sipping action, but the giant flip top may get in your way towards the end of your drink. Well built, solid, fits nicely into my briefcase and doesnt spill.
Nissan Thermos     On: 2008-05-30

I love this thermos. It keeps my drink cold all day long. I tried an experiment to see how well it would keep liquids hot. I put hot water in the thermos, closed the lid and put the container in the refrigerator overnight. The next morning the water was still warm! AMAZING! I only wish that it had a bigger capacity.
Great product.     On: 2008-05-18

This is a great product. It is really a non-leak product that I ever used unless you fill it up too full, it also keeps warm for a long time. I am very happy to have it. Highly recommended.
Great coffee mug     On: 2008-05-18

This is the best travel mug Ive ever tried, and Ive tried quite a few. Coffee stays hot for hours and it is easy to drink from and difficult to spill--even if dropped. I highly recommend it. Costs more than most, but you get what you pay for.
Terrific insulated bottle!     On: 2008-04-28

Ii use this bottle as my coffee mug at work to minimize desk damage if I should tip it over, and it is perfect for the job. It simply does not spill with the lid closed and keeps coffee hot for hours. Id give it six stars if I could!
Better than sliced bread     On: 2008-04-07

Ive been using this bottle for years. This time I bought 4 of them, two for me and two for co-workers. Mine is a replacement for one lost plus a backup. As a professional driver its handy to have a spill-proof container for hot coffee that can be handled with one hand. A button press flips the spring loaded lid back revealing a perfectly shaped sipping lip. Its easy to flip the gasket lined lid back with a flick of your finger thus sealing the bottle against leaks.

Did I mention that the double walled insulated body keeps hot liquids hot and cold liquids cold for hours while keeping the outside comfortable to hold.
Cool bottle!     On: 2008-04-06

Have used it for a while, simply love it. Just not sure how long can the press-button pop-up cover last.... it is convenient to use, as for durability, it is still a question mark....
Thermos Bottle     On: 2008-04-05

I am very pleased with the product and the service from Amazon. Will look there in the future for products I need.
Nice Product - Effective     On: 2008-04-05

My wife needed a slender coffee thermos to take to work to avoid the high cost of coffee-starbucks- at her workplace. This article really keeps stuff hot for as many as four hours plus. You need to pre-heat the vessel with some hot water for 10 minutes or so and the thermos will really keep the coffee. Does what it says, looks good and is slender and positive locking so it can be upturned with no spillage.
Perfect addition to my addiction     On: 2008-03-28

This is the best coffee travel mug thermos thingy ever! Keeps contents pretty warm for hours and hours, its easy to open, it holds the perfect amount of coffee, not too much and not too little! "Yeah, everybody look at me drinking coffee from my fancy coffee travel mug with my shaky hands and still not have it spill on me!" - Incredible!
Keeps my husband's coffee TOO hot!!     On: 2008-03-26

I bought this for my husband who needs to be able to toss it in his backback when hes finished his coffee. It doesnt leak, ever, and it keeps his coffee so hot that he has to take the lid off to let it cool down to drinkable when hes ready for it! Fantastic, well made product that is worth the price.
no doubt, it's the best thermos     On: 2008-03-04

After buying a number of cheaper insulated containers for both my wife and me, I finally bought one of these as a gift for her. She absolutely loves it. It definitely keeps hot liquids hot for at least 8 hours. She raved about it so much that I bought one for myself. Its the best thermos Ive ever owned...no exaggeration. Its durable, compact and exceeds the specs it states for hot liquids. I highly recommend this product.
Good trasnaction     On: 2008-01-28

Received product in good condition. Box was slightly torn. Had overall good trasnaction.
Best Damn One Handed Thermos on the market.     On: 2007-12-25

This is a first, so Im glad to be reviewing this product which makes it easy. I have tested (and yes, bought-just ask my wife) well over a dozen various insulated containers for use in the car. No Im not one of those people who walk around constantly drinking (or hydrating). I use it almost exclusively in my car. Its simple, I want the liquid to stay hot, I want to be able to operate it with one hand, and I dont want it to spill or leak. This is the only product that does that and it does it well. I have given it as a gift to at least a half dozen people and since they are relatives theres no more critical an audience. They agree. Enough said.
Awesome Thermos! Keeps coffee hot hot hot...     On: 2007-12-01

Nissan JMW500SBK Leak-Proof Backpack Bottle 16-oz.

This was the best $25 bucks Ive ever spent! Keeps coffee hot from 6am until 2pm when I drink it at work in the afternoon. The only leakage was operator error - either overfill or didnt have the lid on tight enough. I highly reccommend this thermos.
Tough, and Doesn't Leak     On: 2007-07-14

I am a big fans of these, I carry it everywhere. I drop it periodically, and I was worried I might not be able to buy a replacement the day I finally destroy it. So happy it is still available. I might buy another just to have a spare.

Like any thermos, it keeps drinks hot. No surprise.

What is really great are two features:

1. If you close it, and flip the wire latch, it will not leak. Throw it in your bag with your laptop, passport, phone, etc., and dont worry.

2. It is easy to open and close one handed.

Those are great features.

One catch (common to any bare stainless steel product) if you are drinking coffee while waiting for the bus on a cold winter morning, someplace up north, the stainless steel is cold to hold in a bare hand. My solution is a tube of polartec that was sold as a wrist warmer (the thumb hole isnt used in this application).

Highly recommended.

The greatest travel mug!     On: 2007-07-13

I love this mug! It really keeps cold stuff cold and hot stuff hot. I really love the fact that it doesnt get condensation, and it really is leak-proof. The lack of a handle is good because it more easily fits int the corner of my shoulder bag. Im thinking about buying it to give as a gift.
After 12 yrs. I found it on Amazon!!!     On: 2007-06-26

Awesome bottle!!! I bought one 12 yrs ago in Hong Kong and havent found another one like this til now. Ive been using my old one with no leaks or spills, so when I found it on Amazon I bought two more.

I just ordered my second backpack bottle (they really mean it when they say not to put in the dishwasher, but even so, it lasted for about three years). A great combination of leak-proof and insulation, along with a clever push-button flip-top that makes it easy to sip one-handed from the car. The bottle is so water-tight that I routinely put it in my briefcase--the clip-on fastener assures it wont come loose. And while I havent measured the temperature loss, liquids almost certainly stay wamer longer than on any insulated mug, because no mug seals quite this tightly.

I couldnt find a mention of this product on the Thermos website....and if they discontinued it, that would be a shame. On the other hand, youll be drinking from a soon-to-be collectors item.

Awesome mug     On: 2007-05-11

I got this mug because I wanted to carry my coffee in my briefcase without it leaking while at the same time I wanted to be able to take a quick sip. Ive had this mug for several years now, and it has worked perfectly. It keeps the coffee hot for a long time, it has never leaked, and it is simple to pop open the lid and take a quick sip.

A regular thermos is leak-proof and keeps the coffee hot for a long time, but to take a drink you have to unscrew two lids and pour out some coffee. Id hate to try pouring on the bus or train during my morning commute! When considering this mug, I went around to various stores to see what was available, and this was the only one that so nicely combined the properties of a thermos with those of an easy-to-drink mug. Starbucks, for example, offered a mug that was probably almost leakproof, but I did not want to perform this experiment in my briefcase next to my lap top!
