I was really quite astonished when Benchmade halted production of their
"AFCK" model folder.It really was a great folder.
In the middle of my despair I discovered the "VEX" folder.
Allow me to say that if youre looking for the latest pocket machete,
you may be dissappointed. The VEX is a compact folder that hides its actual size rather well. The dimensions of the knife are very compact,but on opening the knife and feeling its heft,(like a smallish person with good muscle density) you get a feeling of just what this knife is capable of. An excellent blade design that allows for close in work,whittling out spaces or cutting cheese.To more difficult work,preparing game for cooking,cleaning fish,cutting through heavy fabric etc...With a handle that adds drive behind the blade.One can easily see this as a smaller
tactical folder as well.One that could easily and,readily do what would be required.
The construction is really excellent.G-10 scale handles that have full length stainless steel titanium-dust coated liners.The liner lock itself is very sturdy and locks fast.
The pocket clip is the best designed Ive seen so far.Strong with finger grooves that prevent the clip from interfering with the hold of the knife.
The handle is made so that,should you be a lefty,the clip can be taken off and attached to the other side.
There are serration in all the right places to give the best grip possible.
The handle is desgned to fit either left or right hand equally well.
The blade is well constructed,with a thumb hole to ease opening.This is really one of the better ideas for exposing the blade.
The blade itself is extremely sharp,even for a Benchmade,a side effect of its design...I guess,whatever...lookout, the damn thing is sharp!
Overall the features put into the construction of this knife really
goes far beyond what one would expect for the price.
In Benchmades world the "Redbox" knives are the more economically
designed knives.Still top quality.Just without the usual bells and whistles.The VEX is the exception to this rule.The design of this knife and the materials used make this folder one amazing buy.
