![]() Inova BLT-2A Bolt 3.8 Watt LED Flashlight By: Inova Average Rating: 4.0 Total Reviews: 7 More Information A GREAT LITTLE LIGHT, BUT... Mine started acting up in 2 months, not coming on, going on and off as the flashlight was tilted. Never been dropped, nor had new batteries installed the wrong way. (BTW, open it up immediately when you unwrap it; youll be surprised at what constitutes the RIGHT way.) Seems to be a common problem with this type of flashlight from many manufacturers. If not for this problem, I would have given this flashlight 5 stars. I was able to return it for either cash or a new Inova 3.8. I liked it so much that I took the second option. I hope this one doesnt let me down again. I just wish it had a lanyard attachment point I like the Inova Bolt 3.8. Its a great light for the price. Its very comfortable in the hand. Its substantial, but not heavy. Its just the right size too. The anti-roll design is a big help. It stays pointed where I aim it, when I set it down. The rubber grip is a nice feature. Its plenty bright, and uses AA batteries. There are only two negatives. 1) It has no attachment point for a lanyard. 2) you cant lock out the tail cap switch, to stop it from being accidentally activated. It will stay on as long as there is something pressing on the tailcap switch. However, since I have mine sitting on the table next to my couch, those two points arent a problem. Cannot use rechargeable AA's. So it's going back. Great light. Really, bright. BUT, its going back. INOVAs official policy about the use of rechargeables is this stated in a email to me: "The use of rechargeable batteries is not recommended as the higher voltage would blow the bulb and could cause other electronic problems with the flashlight." Come on INOVA. Great flashlights, but make one that uses common rechargeables. terrific compact light Some people call it a drawback, but Inova has wisely chosen to make this a fixed-focus light. Thats good because the focus ring is usually what fails first on a flashlight, so by omitting a feature of dubious value for most people, the manufacturer has doubled the products reliability. They gave it a thumb switch, and thats it. Other than this consideration, there is little else to say that other reviewers havent addressed already. This is a small, strongly-built, very bright light that will resist the elements and (probably) work when it is required to. Well Designed, Quality Craftmanship! I love flashlights and have had many over the years. This is one of the best...The light produced is very bright for a 2 AA battery light. It has a very even bright light area that illuminates a very useful light up to about 50 feet. Yes you can see some light up to 150 ft. This light is quality machined metal, and the handle is a very comfortable and excellent gripping rubber surface. The switch is very well constructed with both a constant on twist and a momentary push, both at the end of the light. I am also impressed it it USA made! The quality is cleary superior to another very popular light, that has at least many of its models made in China. I wont mention names, but the name of company rhymes with "beamlight". I bought two of those and sent them back to Amazon. I am so impressed with Inova that I am looking at there wide variety of models for my next light. Very Good just not Excellent I like everything about this flashlight...Except for two small details...One, the beam is not able to be focused...Two 3.8 Watts is a good marketing idea, but this flashlight simply doesnt use 3.8 Watts of power...Although Im sure that the idea is that its capable...I placed my ammeter into the circuit and it did not measure enough current at 3V to be 3.8 Watt...Just goes to show further that numbers arent everything and bigger isnt always better...but dont get me wrong its a very bright and all around very good flashlight... It's Bright! This is probably the brightest flashlight I have seen that uses standard AA batteries. It is well constructed, but I wouldnt try to use it underwater. The choise of push-button on or constant on is a nice feature. The LED is liftime rated. This should be a cheaper light to maintain over the lithium powered flashlights that my office currently uses. Im going to get a couple more for my employees. It's Bright! This is probably the brightest flashlight I have seen that uses standard AA batteries.
