One of the problems with the out-of-the-box Camelbak is when it gets dropped (usually by one of my kids) and gets dirtied. Sure, you can clean it off, but it is a pain, and if Im not careful my two year old is eating dirt. This cover is great at keeping the valve clean - easy to put on, easy to use, stays on. Come to think of it, why doesnt Camelbak include it as part of their product?
