![]() Stansport Metal Lensatic Compass By: StanSport Average Rating: 1.0 Total Reviews: 1 More Information Poor quality compass I ordered the Stansport primarily for the night features of glowing in the dark direction indicators etc. I expected that the dial could be charged using a flashlight as I had been trained in the Army. The dial would not charge and did not glow at all as best I could tell. The instructions said the "clicking" bezel moved the pointers 3 degrees. This is an important feature in moving at night. That would mean that there were 120 clicks. The Stansport required 130 clicks and thus did not move the bezel 3 degrees as instructed. And the movement resulted in an immediate error of amount 10%. It should also be clear that it is difficult to calculate quickly how many clicks are needed without using a flashlight to adjust the bezel. And that defeats the purpose of the "click" feature anyway. Finally the dial itself has a tendency to stick since the bezel is very close to the floating magnetic dial.Unless the dial is absolutely level the dial sticks. There is almost no tolerance to this effect and would be very difficult to determine at night. Maybe I just got a defective one, but there were too many things related to the design to convince me. |
