5 star for the purpose of night running     On: 2007-12-08

I often jog on moderate country roads and trails at night as I must work day. I used the Tikka before this one for a couple years and had no major complaints, so the increased brightness and easy on/off button are a definite plus.
I especially like the change from a switch to a button. I often turn off my light at night to check out the stars or moon and flick on the light to let cars know Im there (to avoid startling them into a swerve). If someones barreling down on you it is nice to not fumble at a switch.
There are some lights like the Myo XP that are brighter and probably necessary in more rugged conditions, but I like the weight of the Tikka+. I got the Myo XP anyways, but dont run with it. If I was needing more illumination running tricky trails, I would use a handheld light in combination to get shadow perspective instead of getting a stronger headlamp. A good one I think Karnazes uses (used?) that I got is UK MINI Q40 LIGHT. Remember that any rating must be relative to your purpose. If you run at night this seems like a good standard buy. If youre a camper get a Myo XP.
