![]() 'GIANT Light - Small Package' Flashlight - 28 LED! Gunmetal Silver By: N/A Average Rating: 4.0 Total Reviews: 27 More Information Very efficient I was quite pleased with how bright the led flashlight was,im still running on the same batteries. Fun but... This flashlight is very bright and sturdily built, but after about a week it started flickering. Great Small Light, But for Real Light Buy the 100 LED Version Look for the 100 LED flashlight here on Amazon. Yes, it is larger and it costs more, but you wont regret it. Read my review before buying the 100 LED flashlight. But if you dont need very much light and cost is a primary consideration, this 28 LED version is marginally adequate. Ive noticed problems at times with flikering light and that is because the terminals inside the light tarnish making for an intermittent situation that is rectified by rotating the battery compartment while pressing it against the LED bulb assembly. And rotate the batteries while inserted to clean the surfaces. It doesnt happen often. Flashlight seems good but read Warning on package Here is the Warning printed on back of the package. --Warning-- Always wear ANSI approved safety Goggles when using this product. Normal everyday use is likely to expose the user to particals containing lead and other chemicals.... Always wear appropriate clothing and safety equipment.... Wash hands thoroughly after using this product. Reading this warning has tainted the flashlight for me and Im thinking of returning it. Beam Thrower Extraordinaire This light is something else. I was amazed at how bright it is, even in the daytime. And it gets the job done with a mere 3 AAA cells. I carry it in a pouch that follows me just about everywhere as an emergency light. The switch on the tail end is easily turned on by accident, but unscrewing the back a bit keeps this from happening. Its general courtesy not to shine a flashlight in somebodys eyes. It is cruel to shine this light into somebodys eyes. Ive lit up reflective signs at a quarter mile or more. The fit into the included pouch is a bit tight at first, but it loosens up enough with time. The primary drawback with this light is that it is almost too small. The barrel is too short and fat to fit as a headlamp, but it could probably be fitted to a bicycle. It should work quite nicely for looking between computer boards or peering under beds. For me the compact size is an advantage. I have no regrets over the purchase. The vendor shipped rapidly and packed the light well. Not really reliable The light output is great, at first, but this product drains AAA batteries pretty quickly; something LEDs are not supposed to do. However, my main complaint is that the battery cartridge moves around within the housing, causing the light to flicker, dim, and flat go out. I have to shake the flashlight around to make the light come back on. This is a definite design flaw. I dont understand why the designers didnt use a "C" cell size battery rather than 3 triple A batteries. Bright Light! Great little flashlight for the price! Small enough to hold in your mouth (when working under your car), but very bright LEDs. Impressive For $11 I cannot imagine this light being outshined (slight pun intended) by any other. Well made, light weight but solid - and a impressive light output. 'GIANT Light - Small Package' Fantastic Product for the Lowest Price!! This little light is a awsome little package. Small but not when you need the light.I gave the first one I bought to my wife for a emergency light and she loves it.You cant go wrong with having a couple of these around your house,rv, or vehicle. great little flashlights these are awesome. design is pretty & sturdy. very bright, brighter than my incandescent bulb flashlight. the small size doesnt compromise its function. LED = long life = low battery cost. Giant LED the preferrred choice If you go LED, get the biggest one possible, otherwise, the small 9-12 LED lights are only good for closeup work. light shines Bright and small, compact and useful. This light was exactly what I hoped for. Arrived promptly, no other issues. Must recommend compared to all other flashlights for quality and price to light and size ratio. Well designed, bargin price, perfect in glove box or pocket, and come with a useful belt holder. Big Light, Little Coin Though I purchase my clothing based on the number and capacity of the pockets, this little light really and truly is pocket-sized. It is small and light enough to carry every day. That means that I have it with me when I need it (late night and a fuse blows in the vehicle; that necessary bolt just rolled under the heaviest furniture in the room; I am taking something apart and need to see through the thin, little crack to release a spring without breaking everything). Price, size, amount of light, this little light is convenient. Others have complained of bad build quality; the single light I have is fairly sturdy and goes together smoothly. The tailcap switch is nice but it only supports momentary interrupt, not momentary contact (so you have to click the light all the way on; after that the tail switch can flash the light OFF but releasing the switch turns it back ON). I understand this from a usability stand point (no accidental flashing when my keys press against the rubber dome switch) but it means no Morse code with the light...okay, I dont do a lot of Morse with flashlights but it was something that I noticed when I first opened the light. Also, the huge number of LEDs produce a broad, diffuse beam of light. Great for lighting a room at night (shine it at the ceiling in a small room and everyone can probably read); not so great for shining through little cracks to see inside assemblies. Given price and convenience, these two niggling complaints are just that, tiny inconveniences. This light is really, really useful and I plan on giving this (and similar super cheaps) as gifts this season. Better value than the 9-light version I tried the five-dollar 9-light LED version and liked it well enough to forgive its flaws and spend 2 1/2 times as much for the 28-light model. Indeed, it puts out 3 times the light and simply feels much more solid than the smaller and cheaper sibling. Moreover, this heavy-duty model uses the same number and type of batteries and is the same length as the five-dollar model (though definitely heavier and wider). The previous version began to give me problems after a few days due to flickering, requiring me to shake it to get the light back up to initial levels (Ive seen similar complaints from other users). This one, however, seems made of the right stuff to go the distance. If it continues to perform flawlessly after a month, Ill raise my rating to a high five. If Samsung is confident enough in LED technology to use it in their most expensive LCD flat-panel television sets, it certainly should work with a pocket-sized flashlight. Finally, the flashlight company is thoughtful enough, at least with this deluxe model, to provide a stylish canvas carrying case, which can be slipped unto a belt loop, as well as a wrist strap (for the Sansabelt generation?). Most likely, most users will lose or forego both the case and the strap, but theyre nice inclusions. Heck, the protective covering I picked up for my iPod is no better material and it cost me as much as this flashlight. [Later: so far this one is a 5-star performer compared to the 2-3 star showing of the 9-light version. But for a blue-colored version of Amazons Gold Box Deal of the Day, note that this 28 LED giant beacon is currently available in blue for a buck less.] nice light! As long as it keeps working like it is, its awesome. Real bright little flashlight - i use it all the time, alot on my computer as well.. for the price u cant bean it, i have seen them around 5$ and thats what i got mine for, it was a bit cheaper, and honestly i got it to make the 25$ free shipping order, and it was the coolest thing i got that day,, good product and very bright little light. it will fit in your palm, its really small. Connection problem is common with any flashlight Is all you have to do is bend the little medal piece to hold the battery in place better. I had to do the same thing to my doorbell last week. Anything that takes batteries sometimes needs this type of adjustment. My boss ordered a handful of these flashlights. He told me one wouldnt work. I just adjusted the metal pieces that surround the battery. Presto, no problem. Works like magic. Worst LED Flashlight Ever Purchased Unfortunately, this flashlight periodically blinked using batteries right out of the box. Moreover, it fits very poorly in its case and has an annoying metallic smell, which probably will go away over time. It does, however, provide lots of intense light for its size. Nevertheless, very disappointed. LED flashlight As noted the light is very bright, it throws a nice wide pattern. There is a problem with connections as you may have to shake it for it to work at times. Very good flashlight Im very satisfied with the product, it comes in plastic, hermetic and resistant package. It contains three AAA batteries, a portable pouch to carry it attached to the belt and of course the flashlight. The finish is a dark metal gray annodized color, it has 28 very high bright LEDs in the front and a black rubber switch in the rear to turn on-off function. Its water-proof (I dont know if it resist using it underwater). The brightness with new alkalyne batteries can light up to 10 or 15 meters aprox. The flashlight has a good size and is confortable for a man size hand. I recommend it and its not expensive. excellent this flashlight is the best i have. i had the maglight but this one is much better. but the pouch for product needs improvement because it tears easy i had to throw mines away. Small, yet powerful, flashlight A very small, yet powerful, flashlight which can be used for a variety of situations. Just Ok This does not really give you much more light than than the 9 led version. The other problem is that it sometimes works and sometimes does not. There is a connection problem. This has been noted by some others here as well. If you will rely on this for emergency situations, you might want to look at other models. Interestingly, the cheaper 9 led version works much better. Small price, BIG LIGHT!! A solid light with a low price. The LEDs do not get hot and batteries last a very long time. The aluminum casing makes it solid all around. This little thing puts out a ton of light. Great for the vehicle and around the house. Lots of light when the power goes out or the car gets a flat. You will want several. So what is the catch? The carrying case is dumpster fodder. Bright, but Poor Quality I bought four of these and after a quick test on one, opened the rest up. The lights are quite bright and do a great job lighting up a wide area. Not as bright as a single Luxeon or CREE LED but good bright light. I put them aside for a few weeks without use, and now when I try them they continuosly dim during use. I have to shake or tap it to brighten it back up. Then it goes dim again within 5-30 seconds. Now, even the dim is pretty bright, but it is significantly less bright then full power. Its very annoying. This is happens with at least 3 of the 4 lights (havent tried the fourth yet) with less than 15 minutes use on any one of them. Edit as of one month later- I took all four to Burning Man and they all got 30 or so hours of use each. Batteries are holding up fine but all had problems with contiunally dimming and brightening during use. Its gotten even more annoying. I would lower to 2 stars if Amazon would let me, especially know that Ive tried a few more of the 1 watt Cree LED lights that provide more light for not too much more money. And very efficient for the amount of LEDs, battery life is great. Construction is as solid as my expensive 5LED INOVA. That was a surprise. Decent flashlight, good value For the price, this is a decent flashlight... I own a few other LED flashlights though - with only 1 LED and a parabolic lens, which produce similar light output. These 28-LED flashlights produce a less focused light, and more of a flood effect. Still, I decided to go with the buy-4-get-1-free promo, and dropped one in all the places I usually need a flashlight... Theyre really quite handy and are perfect for most tasks. This is indeed amazing flashlight I saw this before so I knew what I was buying. This really is amazing, in particular if you consider the price. There are smaller and more powerful high-tech flashlights but they cost $50 or more, even hundreds. This light is brighter than all my flashlights that use 6V brick batteries that weight 3lbs. This is perfect as emergency light for hiking trips, for computer repairs or just about any other use you can imagine. The beam is very uniform without rings. It does have a blue tint but that doesnt bother me. It seems sturdy, feels good in hand and doesnt look cheap. The enclosed belt pouch though is kind of a joke: bright red, ugly accents and very cheaply made, I wouldnt trust this to hold anything but air. Also, the included batteries are on the cheap side too. For the price you cant go wrong. It was shipped promptly and carefully packed. |
