On: 2007-06-17This has basic first aid and a very small survival kit. Comes with a heat trapping blanket and one pouch of purfied water. So you arent gonna live long with what it gives however this is not the kits strong points. It is for the common cuts, scrapes, and such that happen on camping, hiking, and other trips. Has the basics like small bandaids, alcohol swabs, and iodine swabs. Has anti-acids and such. Tongue depressers (finger spint anyone?) and wrap. Various sized gauze(spell?). Anyways, it does what it is made to do but the case is the reason for 4 out of 5 stars. The hard plastic hooks broke the very first time I tried to un-hook them and thus I had to "mcgyver" a way to use the strap. The case isnt that great all around but you are getting a great deal of ITEMS which are useful so this can be overlooked somewhat. A great beginner kit for those who have the knowledge to use it. I would add to the kit a GPS device, a radio, a long piece of rubber tubing, and some more ankle wraps perhaps but these can easily be added by the buyer as well and if you cant figure out what those additions would be used for you shouldnt have them anyways. Again, this is only a starter kit, and ANY KIT IS ONLY AS GOOD AS THE PERSON TRAINED TO USE IT. Get training before you hurt someone, and ensure that at least one person knows Red Cross CPR in your group, (more the better of course). |
