Amazon shouldn't be selling  On: 2008-09-04Main light never worked. Cant find a bulb source and manufacturer website. Amazon has really failed on this one.In an emergency, when you need light, it dowsnt work. Main light quit working, otherwise ok  On: 2008-08-30We got this 2 years ago for a camping trip. It still works, but the main light has quit working. The radio, and LED lights still work, but like previous person stated, the LEDs are not really bright enough for anything major. Power on Board TrailTracker Lantern by Vector On: 2008-07-20I bought this lantern and took it camping for seven days and I was very pleased so I bought another one. I only used them twice and now one of the lanterns does not hold a charge and the other has a broken manual charger. It would be a great product if it worked correctly. Main light does not work .. Dissappointing  On: 2008-03-08I bought the Trailtracker about a year ago and it seemed like a great idea. Finally a large capacity battery device with some low power draw lighting. A short time later, I tried the fluorescent light and it would not come on, regardless of how long the charger has been connected. Measures the voltage at the battery terminals and at the supposedly 12V power outlet and it reads 6 volts. I am guessing the device uses 6 volts for the LED and the radio, both of which still work, and 12 volts (from a second part of the battery which is either unhooked from the usage or charging circuit, wired wrong, or has failed with almost no usage. Would be nice if they found the problem and mailed us repaired battery or whatever. I doubt I kept the receipt, but I guess that is my fault. Worked Great...For a month!! On: 2007-12-26At first I was very happy with the product. Brought it on a family camping trip. Using only LEDs it lasted whole trip. Took it out a few nights ago before a big storm to make sure it was charged. Bulb wont come on. Left it charging for ages but charge light always indicates it is very low...not enough for power bulb. Finally checked charge on battery and found only 3.5v came out. Word of advice...save your reciept!! Chris from Chicago On: 2007-08-24Sooo, disappointed! I have one of these from last Christmas and the main light wont work anymore, but before it quit working I had bought two more which I tested as soon as I got them home. Several months later the main lights wont come on and the LEDs arent nearly bright enough as a stand alone light. This would be a cool lantern if it worked properly. And yes, they were fully charge, I just charged them last week. Yesterday our power went out for 6 hours and the lanterns just didnt work. Also, I had bought one of these for my sister last Christmas and hers never worked properly and she had to take it back. Thats embarrassing as it was a gift. went back and bought another one  On: 2007-08-18Bought one. Liked it enough to buy a second one. I takes a while to charge and the fluorescent bulb is off while charging but the L.E.D.s are still functional. Can be charged from wall outlet, cigarette lighter, or hand crank built in dynamo (but thats too much like work. My recommendation is to use it with the L.E.D.s unless you really need the extra light from the fluorescent. Itll last much longer! Also, dont completely discharge it before recharging or itll take forever to build a charge back up. Weather radio works, weather alarm works (nice since we have thunderstorms and a rare tornado in the area, and the AM/FM radio is fine for emergencies. |
