WICKED LOOKING SHOE...GREAT FIT...EVEN BETTER FEEL...I do have an issue with the fit after a couple of hour of wearing them...they tend to loosen up a bit...Im sure its the insole but its a bit annoying...
I DIG THE LOOK AND THE OVERALL FEEL...

The tightening system is brilliant. Every part of your foot feels secure in the shoes. The look has grown on me quite a bit. They still draw a lot of weird looks on the street.

One problem for me: these were the most comfortable shoes in then world for about 12 hours, about the amount of time for the insoles to form to your feet. The whole molding thing is something of an issue because this kills the cushioning in the flattened parts that need support the most. I noticed this while standing in a line. I literally could feel the shoes becoming less comfortable until finally I was shifting around on my feet trying to ease the pain. I guess the insoles create a measure of arch support for those who need it, but it causes fatigue in other parts of the foot. Mion put a thin foam layer underneath the memory foam, but it doesnt make much of a difference. I found some old insoles and put them on top of Mions. Now the shoes are very comfortable again.

The performance aspects of the shoes are impressive. The fit and stability are both perfect. Traction is excellent on a wide variety of sufaces. My two nitpicks concern the laces. When you tighten them theres a large loop left over. This can catch on things and create dangerous situations. Its easy enough to tuck it somewhere, but it would be nice if there was a surefire way to lock leftover strings in place. A lock for the tightener would be nice too. The lacing can loosen on its own over time.

Overall an excellent pair of shoes for the water and beyond. They are suitable for all conditions and can handle rough terrain if needed.
Great shoe for many uses     On: 2008-01-13

If youve bought the MION sandals, go a half size bigger for this style which is more like traditional shoe fits. The material is nice to keep the elements out for a period of time. Ive worn this barefooted and with socks, just use warm water and mild soap on the removeable footbed every few uses if barefooted. I love it in the winter, it grips very well in the snow (like a snow tire) and I went sledding with my kids for over an hour barefoot with these on and never felt the snow getting in and was comfortable. You feel like youre cheating a little bit with how light the product is, how gripping the bottom is and how much shock absorption you are getting. It feels like you have almost nothing on.
