![]() Tengu 2 - 2 Person backpacking Tent By: Sierra Designs Average Rating: 4.0 Total Reviews: 1 More Information Great (big, heavy) tent! Ive been using a Sierra Designs Clip Flashlight tent for 15 years now. Its still a phenomenal tent, but alas, the time has come for something roomier. I rarely solo hike any more, so I needed room for the girl and the dog. The Tengu seems to fit the bill perfectly. Even though they are both 2 person tents, the Tengu seems 50% roomier and 50% heavier than my clip flashlight. What immediately drew me to the Tengu was the external pole structure that is rare on non-single wall tents in the US. The second was the HUGE vestibule that will be my dogs home away from home. Here is some information that I could not find elsewhere: - the tent body is all floor and mesh - there is no stock way to attach the body to the poles without the fly - the rear of the fly guys out creating a small vestibule big enough for a pair of boots - the rear of the fly also has a door and a mesh roof vent - the body is attached to the fly with elastic webbing and plastic slugs that fit into plastic loops in the fly. - the body easily detaches from the fly, but the attachment is solid. A lot of the extra weight comes from all the extra guy out points, mesh pockets, adjustable webbing buckles, reinforced fly sections, double zippers, and the over sized vestibule -- basically all of the things that make this tent so comfortable and solid. Separate the load between two people, and its well worth the extra weight. One more thing, the whole "Reverse Combi" thing that Sierra Designs uses really does increase the headroom inside. |
