On: 2008-09-18I have used Zippos for 45 years so I was very disappointed in this new butane lighter. It goes through fuel like crazy and has to be refilled every day. After one weeks use the jets had to be cleaned with a needle, and its dangerous to use while driving because you cant see if its lit. Usually it isnt because its no where close to windproof. Zippo lives up to it's promise  On: 2008-07-22I received my Zippo Blu on July 7, 2008. I filled it with Zippo butane fuel and it lit on the first strike but that was first and the last time it lit on the first strike. It was so hard to light that I had to carry a Bic and the Zippo Blu was basically useless. I went to Zippos web site and sent them a note about it via their "Contact Us" link. I did not receive an email reply but exactly one week later I received an envelope in the mail from Zippo. It contained a replacement flint wheel cartridge for my Zippo Blu. I replaced the original flint wheel cartridge with the new one and now it works great. Lighting almost every time on the first strike. I guess they knew from my description what was wrong and without further ado they fixed it without my having to send it in for repair. Its too bad that it originally had a manufacturing flaw but the service was great and they lived up to their promise that, "No one ever spent a cent to repair a Zippo". Zippo dissapoints On: 2008-03-08After seeing Zippos new Blu lighter advertisements and their offering for a Lifetime Warranty I was easily convinced to purchase this lighter. The first day of testing I was somewhat pleased with the quick light and consistent hot butane flame. Unfortunately after about 3 days (and currently) the lighter began behaving terribly. Having to attempt to light it 8-12 times is not what I had in mind. I think Zippo has put out a poor functioning lighter and I am very dissapointed given the cost and reputation the Zippo brand has. Although it has lifetime warranty Im not willing to pay half the price of lighter to send it back only to get another poor functioning device. CONCLUSION: DO NOT PURCHASE THIS LIGHTER. TAKE YOUR $35.00 AND BUY A 50 PACK OF DISPOSABLE BIC LIGHTERS! Best butane lighter I ever owned.  On: 2008-02-10Zippo Blu Blu, Vertical Chrome When I first learned that Zippo mad a butane lighter I was very excited. Every butane lighter I ever owned never lasted or performed well. After I received the Zippo Blu I was very pleased. Best lighter I ever owned. I would recomend this lighter to anyone. Most reliable butane lighter yet, with clever design On: 2008-01-17I purchased a colibri lighter a while back. It worked ok for the first day. After that it almost never lit. I was very disappointed and bought an original Zippo. I fell in love with it. However, eventually I got sick of tasting the Zippo lighting fluid when I smoked cigars, so I began searching for a higher quality butane lighter. I finally ran across the Zippo Blu. Saw it has a lifetime warranty and figured it was worth a try. The Zippo Blu works wonderfully. Lights anything very quickly with a very consistent flame. Also has a window on the side to view the amount of butane in its tank Pros: hot, consistent flame. Reliable lighting mechanism. Classic Zippo design Cons: No way to adjust the height of the flame. If the butane level in the window is below half, the butane will RARELY light. The butane runs out fairly quickly, but based on other reviews, this is common among butane lighters. |
